This handsome gentleman is looking for his forever best friend and snuggle partner. Watson is a gentle mannered boy that loves to be attached to his person. You’ll never be lonely as Watson likes to be right by your side! He really loves snuggling on the couch but also loves napping in his cozy beds. Watson came to the rescue overweight but is doing well with losing weight. He loves going on walks outside. He also loves his stuffies and will carry them around. Watson recently had all his remaining teeth extracted so no more dentals! He aims to please and is very food/treat motivated. He has come a long way with his potty training and with a little more consistent training will continue to improve. He has alopecia and is missing patches of hair on his back; this requires no treatment and does not bother him. He does well with other small dogs and kids. Unknown about cats. Watson is a cuddlebug and would love nothing more than to have a person he can love on all day!

Story

We have had Molly for 8 years. She was a recuse dog and we were told that she was 2 or 3 years old. She has all her shots in July of this year. She likes people and gets along with our grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is mainly an inside dog, but she likes to go for walks. We are not able to take her for walks as much as we would like to because of our age and our health. That is the reason we need to find a loving home for Molly. She has a good appetite and I think she would eat about any food put in front of her. She loves snacks. She is house trained. She loves to answer the door and is friendly to anyone who rings the doorbell. Molly loves to sit with you but doesn't seem to be a lap dog for too long. She is a dachshund mix but the vet says she is 99% dachshund. Since we have had Molly we have kept up with all shots. Molly loves to go for car rides. She stays in the backseat unless you ask her to come to the front seat. Molly is a sweet dog and weights about 18 lbs.

Must be patient with separation anxiety!Arlo is a one-year-old long-haired Miniature Dachshund and professional snuggler! He is fully potty trained (including potty bells), knows his basic commands, and is incredibly loyal. His favorite things are cuddling, and playing fetch.Arlo has severe separation anxiety and needs an experienced, patient adopter committed to continuing his training. His ideal home would have someone who works permanently from home or is retired and home majority of the time. He would do best with a small, calm, canine companion. Arlo is shy and takes time to warm up to new people. He is fearful of large dogs but does well with small dogs once comfortable. He has done well with children 6+ who understand he is shy. He loves sniffing and exploring but can be nervous around dogs and loud cars on walks.

Brandy is a beautiful 6-year-old Miniature Long-Haired Dachshund who is finally getting her chance at a real life after retiring from a puppy mill breeding operation. Like many puppy mill survivors, Brandy was never properly socialized, so she is extremely shy and cautious around people. Despite her fearfulness, she is a very sweet little girl who simply needs time, patience, and understanding to learn that people can be kind and loving.Shortly after coming to Misty Eyes, Brandy experienced a ruptured disc and required surgery. Unfortunately, back problems are not uncommon in Dachshunds, particularly those who have been poorly bred. Brandy has recovered from her surgery and completed her physical therapy. She is able to walk and continues to make progress, although she may never have a completely normal gait. Continued walking will help maintain her strength and mobility. To protect her back, she should avoid stairs (although a couple of steps are okay), jumping, and trying to stand on her back legs.Brandy is currently thriving in a Misty Eyes foster home, where she is beginning to discover what it means to be a cherished companion instead of simply a puppy-producing dog. She will need a calm, patient adopter who is willing to let her progress at her own pace and help her build confidence in her new world. A friendly, easygoing dog who isn`t overly active would be an important part of her new family, providing her with a buddy and mentor.Brandy has been through a lot, but she is ready to begin the next chapter of her life. Hey everyone! Meet pinky! Her former name was cruella but she didn’t respond to it. A few weeks ago we were contacted by another rescue about a dog sitting at a vet clinic waiting to be euthanized by the owner. The dog was labeled as not potty trained and snapped at her owner, being a dachshund corgi mix its behavior we typically expect and can handle so we said we would take her if the vet would hang onto her for a few days. Pinky has been nothing short of the complete opposite of why she was going to be euthanized. Pinky (the reason we call her pinky is because she was bald in many places due to flea allergies and yeast infections her owner didn’t care for) has not had a single accident in her foster home or in her crate at her foster home. She has been excellent with the other dogs of all sizes, the young children, and the kitties in the home. We do believe her owner was struggling financially and had to make up excuses as to why the euthanasia was necessary, but due to pinky’s condition it was obvious she had not been cared for in a long while. Pinky is a 3 year old corgi dachshund mix and weighs about 25 pounds. She is quiet and well behaved. She LOVES men. We can’t stress it enough that pinky loves men. She does growl a little at her foster mom but nothing past a small growl but totally lights up at her foster dad and the boy children in the home. Her best fit for a home would be with a single man, or a man who does have a woman in his life that doesn’t care pinky will never prefer her, or obviously an amazing gay couple who wants a sweet neglected girl to love on who will return that love tenfold. Pinky would be an amazing fit for almost any type of home, she just prefers men over women. Meet Leo! Leo is a 4 year old Dachshund mix weighing around 15 pounds. He is crate trained, potty trained, and good with most cats and other dogs! Likes kids from afar but needs a home without children. Leo absolutely adores car rides, walks, basking in the sun, following his nose, napping on the couch, and going on adventures! Leo also has some pretty strong feelings against being brushed and takes seriously his role as "fun police" with anyone in the house being too loud/rough. And now for the not so fun part. Leo came from a background of being absolutely spoiled.... so he's a bit of a jerk. He has a strong personality, partly due to the Dachshund breed, and needs a handler that understands tough behavior. He will need lifelong upkeep of his behavioral quirks in order to continue to grow and improve. He's come such a long way in his foster home! But it takes daily work and time spent specifically on his training. He has been in his foster home for about 1.5 months and has made huge improvements. He is peacefully living with a pack of four other dogs (all sizes), a couple clawed cats, and three rowdy older children. This is not his ideal household however the improvement gained here shows great hope that he will absolutely flourish once he's finally found the right environment.
