Story
Shotske came to us after his owner died with another dog. He is almost 11 years old and a long haired dachshund. Shotske is incredibly sweet, and really enjoys long strolls outside and treats. New situations and new people make him a bit nervous, but he’s still sweet and gentle, even when unsure - he will just retreat. When shotske arrived here, he was over 25lbs and experiencing some back leg/end paralysis which isn’t uncommon with aging dachshunds, especially if obese. He is now a healthy weight, runs and leaps, moderately active, and not on any medications. A new family will have to make sure his diet is strict, because he loves food and treats but needs to be normal sized to stay healthy. Shotske came to us with Pansy and can be adopted separately, but then would prefer another small dog his size that is in need of social connectedness, or to be the only dog in a home where he could be the center of attention. He is housebroken, and will go outside, but his previous owner used potty pads in the house, so if you don’t make him go outside, he won’t. He requires regular grooming and absolutely NO cats.

Story
Hank came to us after his owner passed away. He is 8 years old and currently 23 lbs (but could stand to lose a few lbs). He is very social and loves people. He gets along great with other animals. His one flaw is that he is a marker, so a belly band would be best for him while he acclimates to your home. Hank is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm tested, on heartworm prevention, and on flea prevention

Story
Banjo is delightful! He is approximately 10 years old, and our best guess is he is Dachshund mixed with something bigger (his shape looks Doxie, but he's about 40 lb.). He is a mellow dude who just likes to hang out with his people. He's fine with kids and other dogs, but he's also fine solo. He is very polite and housetrained. Banjo is hypothyroid so will require lifelong medication for that. He also has some lipomas (benign squishy spots) that we are just monitoring unless they become problematic for him. He is the sweetest, friendly little guy! He will make someone an amazing companion.    Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. Each dog in our rescue is in a loving foster home, where they can grow, play, and recover from their time spent on the streets or in a shelter. If you'd like to meet an adoptable dog, please fill out an application on our website, www.edcr.org. Because we are a foster home based rescue a completed adoption application is required to meet our adoptable dogs. November 28, 2023, 12:28 am

Story
Bop & Betty were found in a tote at a convenience store parking lot in northern Indiana. They were covered with fleas, malnourished and missing alot of their fur. After being taken to the local shelter, By the time Bop and Betty had made there way to us, they had been through a lot. You would never know it though as both Bop and Betty are cute, energetic, entertaining and very very loving. They do have a bit of "stranger danger" after their ordeal, but that is in the form of barking at any new person or dog that comes their way. However, it does not take them long to get used to new things and to return to being "normal" dogs. Bop & Betty are BONDED and will need to be adopted together. Bop is guessed to be around 5-7 years old and weighs 7 lbs. Betty is estimated to be around 9 years old and weighs 16 pounds. The adoption fee for Bop & Betty together is $200.  If you are interested in meeting them, please fill out an application on our website at www.4pups.org and we will arrange a meet n greet if you are a match for them. As of right now, we are only considering potential adopters within 1 hour of Indianapolis as the girl's will be getting spayed on November 30th and Betty has a dental scheduled for December 29th. The girls will be fostered until adoption can be completed after all of their vetting is done. Cost of all remaining vetting will be absorbed by us. Bop & Betty are currently up-to-date on all of their vaccinations and have been microchipped. ##1854917##
