Story

Brandy is a beautiful 6-year-old Miniature Long-Haired Dachshund who is finally getting her chance at a real life after retiring from a puppy mill breeding operation. Like many puppy mill survivors, Brandy was never properly socialized, so she is extremely shy and cautious around people. Despite her fearfulness, she is a very sweet little girl who simply needs time, patience, and understanding to learn that people can be kind and loving.Shortly after coming to Misty Eyes, Brandy experienced a ruptured disc and required surgery. Unfortunately, back problems are not uncommon in Dachshunds, particularly those who have been poorly bred. Brandy has recovered from her surgery and completed her physical therapy. She is able to walk and continues to make progress, although she may never have a completely normal gait. Continued walking will help maintain her strength and mobility. To protect her back, she should avoid stairs (although a couple of steps are okay), jumping, and trying to stand on her back legs.Brandy is currently thriving in a Misty Eyes foster home, where she is beginning to discover what it means to be a cherished companion instead of simply a puppy-producing dog. She will need a calm, patient adopter who is willing to let her progress at her own pace and help her build confidence in her new world. A friendly, easygoing dog who isn`t overly active would be an important part of her new family, providing her with a buddy and mentor.Brandy has been through a lot, but she is ready to begin the next chapter of her life. If you think you could provide the gentle, loving home she deserves, please complete an adoption application online at https://www.mistyeyes.org/adoptionapplication.

Story

You must be an experienced dachshund owner, WFH fully or be retired, and have at least one other small dog. No apartments or shared walls (Arlo is vocal)!. Must be patient with separation anxiety!Arlo is a one-year-old long-haired Miniature Dachshund and professional snuggler! He is fully potty trained (including potty bells), knows his basic commands, and is incredibly loyal. His favorite things are cuddling, and playing fetch.Arlo has severe separation anxiety and needs an experienced, patient adopter committed to continuing his training. His ideal home would have someone who works permanently from home or is retired and home majority of the time. He would do best with a small, calm, canine companion. Arlo is shy and takes time to warm up to new people. He is fearful of large dogs but does well with small dogs once comfortable. He has done well with children 6+ who understand he is shy. He loves sniffing and exploring but can be nervous around dogs and loud cars on walks.

Story

Meet Our Little Miracle This precious girl entered our care at just 2 hours old after tragedy struck her litter. Her mama sadly passed away after giving birth, and none of her siblings survived. From the very beginning, this tiny girl has been a fighter. She was taken in by one of our amazing neonatal fosters, where she was bottle-fed, handled daily, and showered with love. As she's grown, she's made one thing very clear—she's a little diva! She knows she's special and isn't shy about showing off her big personality. Raised in a home and socialized from day one, this baby is confident, affectionate, and full of charm. She's looking for a family who will adore her as much as we do. Luna has had some belly troubles along the way. We are unsure if this will be long lasting. The adoption fee for puppies under 6 months of age is $265. If the puppy is too young or small to be fixed there will be a $75 spay/neuter rebate form provided. They currently have at least 1 puppy shot, flea preventative, heartworm preventative and are microchipped with lifetime registration ($13). Apply at https://www.petstablished.com/adoption_form/10167/generic We cannot guarantee breed or adult size. ##2769735##

Story

We have had Molly for 8 years. She was a recuse dog and we were told that she was 2 or 3 years old. She has all her shots in July of this year. She likes people and gets along with our grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is mainly an inside dog, but she likes to go for walks. We are not able to take her for walks as much as we would like to because of our age and our health. That is the reason we need to find a loving home for Molly. She has a good appetite and I think she would eat about any food put in front of her. She loves snacks. She is house trained. She loves to answer the door and is friendly to anyone who rings the doorbell. Molly loves to sit with you but doesn't seem to be a lap dog for too long. She is a dachshund mix but the vet says she is 99% dachshund. Since we have had Molly we have kept up with all shots. Molly loves to go for car rides. She stays in the backseat unless you ask her to come to the front seat. Molly is a sweet dog and weights about 18 lbs.
