We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.2/22/26 Meet Sarah! If you are looking for a good, medium size dog, she might the one for you!&#226&#158&#161&#239&#184&#143Dachshund mix (mom was dachshund. Dad unknown.) She is not built like a dachshund. &#226&#158&#161&#239&#184&#143housetrained&#226&#158&#161&#239&#184&#143good with dogs, cats, kids&#226&#158&#161&#239&#184&#14330 lbs, 2 years oldFor most people and hopefully their pets, Christmas is a time of fun, family togetherness, and joy. For Sarah, this past Christmas was filled with fear, cold, hunger, and loneliness. You see, right before the holidays, Sarah's family moved. Sarah did everything right. She was a good girl. She watched excitedly as they loaded all of their most treasured possessions on the truck, and drove away. They didn't even tell her goodbye. She thought they would be back to get her, so she waited. And waited. And waited. Days turned into weeks and they never returned. What should have been their most valued possession, was simply discarded like garbage. They didn't even care enough about her to give her a name, only calling her 'Little Dog.' Thankfully, a kind hearted neighbor scooped her up before she could freeze. The neighbor has been workiing with her, teaching her how to be a dog. Most importantly, they are teaching her that she is valued and safe. This is what her foster (the neighbor) said about her:'She’s house broken and has good manners, very people and food oriented, and I had no issues bringing her in despite the signs of abuse I could see. There was a short adjustment period with my other two dogs, but after maybe a day she loved them. She plays and cuddles with both my big and small dogs. She loves cats and is actually very good with them. She also LOVES to snuggle with people. Her previous owner had a child and she seemed to be good with them as well. She is shy with new people at first, but is easily won over with treats and kindness. She has not shown any aggression at all, she would just try to hide at first, until she realized she was safe. Once comfortable, she will be your shadow if you let her.' She is spayed, UTD on vaccines, and on flea/tick and heartworm prevention.  Sarah is located in Arkansas. She can be adopted locally, but transport is available to the New England area as well. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them in PA, NY, or CT on Saturdays. To apply, please fill out the adoption app: https://form.jotform.com/212690945239059 email apps.aasr@gmail.com with any questions.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Our typical adoption fee for puppies younger than 6 months old is $400, and for older puppies and adults, the usual fee is $350. Story
Meet Lola, an adorable 2–3-year-old Chiweenie weighing just 9 pounds of pure love. 💕 Lola did not have an easy start to life. She was roaming the streets for over two weeks, relying on the kindness of neighbors who fed her while she remained too fearful to be caught. Eventually, we were contacted to help. After setting a humane trap, we were finally able to bring Lola to safety. It’s clear that Lola’s past was not very kind to her. She is extremely shy and nervous around people at first. However, once she feels safe and bonds with her person, she truly blossoms. Lola becomes incredibly sweet and loving, enjoys giving kisses, loves being carried, and will happily follow you from room to room. She enjoys car rides, going to work with her person, eating (one of her favorite activities!), and playing with toys. Lola is a very special little girl, but she does have some quirks that her future family must understand and respect. She does not like strangers, children, large dogs, or female dogs. She does best with small male dogs only. Lola is almost fully potty trained but may have accidents if left unattended. She is kennel trained, though she does not particularly enjoy being kenneled. Lola is looking for a very special home—one that is patient, understanding, and willing to work with her at her pace. In return, she will be an incredibly loyal and devoted companion. Lola was heartworm positive when she entered rescue, but she has successfully completed her heartworm treatment. She is now fully vetted: • Spayed • Up to date on vaccines • Microchipped If you’re ready to open your heart and home to this unique and loving little girl, please complete an adoption application. Lola is waiting for her person. 🐾💗

Story
If you love dogs with a big heart, a total snuggle bug, one who longs to be your lap dog and best friend, but has a small frame and little legs to match? Well look no further because Meghan Peanut Markel was made for you! Not only is she incredibly sweet but she is absolutely adorable!! So get ready for your phone to be overrun with Meghan content because that’s exactly what is going to happen the second you bring her home. Watch her video and fall in love with her: https://youtu.be/cQ-ztshK1RE?si=DDNUiPAVLgaCzqzE Meghan Markel is a Dachshund mix approximately 1 year old and currently weighs about 20lbs. She’s a little girl and the perfect size for lap snuggles, which are a favorite of hers! She is a rescue dog and with any rescue, it’s always a mystery and we cannot guarantee breed or age. Meghan is a bit shy at first when meeting new people, in new environments and may take a little time to warm up, but once she does, she’s all about affection and spoiling you with her gentle love. She truly shines as a lap dog and is happiest curled up close to her person, soaking in love and giving it right back. Her energy level is beautifully balanced, not too busy and not too sleepy. Just the right amount of energy, the kind of pup who fits perfectly into your routine. She enjoys getting out for walks (and walks nicely on a leash!) but is just as content relaxing at home snuggled up next you on the couch binge watching your favorite show or movie. She’s dog-friendly and has done great with every dog we have introduced her to. She has met dogs her size and smaller and has also been around dogs twice her size! No matter the size, Meghan has shown to be a polite gentle lady when she meets a dog on leash and shows that same level of gentleness when meeting dogs off leash. She isn’t a super playful girl with other dogs; she prefers calm companionship over rough-and-tumble play. Meghan has the kind of easygoing personality that allows her to thrive in many living situations. She would do very well in an apartment or condo setting, especially with someone who enjoys daily walks and a relaxed routine. Her well-balanced energy level and polite leash manners make her a great neighbor-friendly companion. She would also be perfectly happy in a suburban home with a backyard, where she could enjoy sniffing around, sunbathing, and lounging after her walks. While she’d appreciate outdoor access, she doesn’t rely on a yard to be fulfilled; her happiness comes from companionship, not square footage. If you’re looking for a loyal little companion who bonds deeply, loves cuddles, and brings a steady, comforting presence into your life, Meghan may be exactly who you’ve been waiting for. We are willing to test Meghan Markel with anything you need in order to ensure it's a perfect match. We can make anything happen! Just let us know. Ready to welcome a new furry friend into your life? Story
Located in Tennessee but can be transported to you through Rescue Riders. This girl was brought in with babies when her owner couldn't take care of her. She was not socialized very well so will need some work. She will need a very patient person to get her to come out of her shell. She was kept outside so she has no house manners, nor has she been with cats. She does do well with dogs her size and seems to like to play with them. She deserves a new chance to be a loved dog and companion. She will take a lot of time and investment but deserves a chance!
