Story
Shorty is one of those dogs who makes life easier. At around 3 years old, this sweet dachshund mix has a calm, low-energy personality and loves nothing more than being petted and spending time with his people. He is perfectly content relaxing in the shade, hanging out on the couch, or simply following you from room to room. Shorty gets along wonderfully with other dogs and with cats, including kittens. While he enjoys the company of other animals, he doesn't depend on them and would be just as happy as your one and only pet. He is well past the puppy chaos and has the easygoing personality of a dog who just wants to be loved and included. If you're looking for a loyal companion who won't demand much beyond some affection and a comfortable place to nap, Shorty may be exactly who you've been waiting for. Good fit: someone looking for a calm, affectionate companion who gets along well with other pets but doesn't need a busy household to be happy. Adoption process: All adoptions are completed prior to transport. Dogs are picked up at designated transport locations. If an adoption doesn’t work out (rare, but life happens), we always take our dogs back. Location: Oklahoma (available to approved out-of-state adopters via transport) Health: Fully vetted (neutered/spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested) Adoption fee: $550 (includes transport + vetting) Bonus: Each adoption includes a 30-minute phone consultation with a professional trainer Transport routes: WA, OR, ID, MT, UT, WY, CO, MN, WI, IA, IL, IN, OH, PA, MD, NY, NJ Think you might be a good fit? Story
REQUIRES A CONFIDENT, PLAYFUL RESIDENT DOG IN THE HOME AND FENCED YARD. If you take the time, it will be a pleasure to meet this little man, Brogan. Brogan is a 1-year-old Dachshund mix and is a small size of 18 pounds. He came from an awful situation, and he is a shy boy because of it. Brogan is now on the path of finding a home that will deliver lots of patience and commitment to Brogan as he adjusts to a new life. Brogan will absolutely need a quiet home where he can find space and comfort in his own time frame to feel more confident. He is good with dogs and older, respectfully calm children. He will also need a confident and calm family dog in the house to be his personal influencer in finding and building confidence. His relationship with cats is unknown at this time. With the right tools for his use, Brogan is sure to flourish and show his family what a great, confident boy he was always meant to be.He is putting in the work of learning his house, crate and leash training skills. With consistence and positive reinforcement, Brogan will be a champ in a short amount of time. Due to his shyness with people and handling, Brogan requires a fenced yard since leash walking is currently very scary for him. It is said that time can heal all wounds, and Brogan believes in this as well. A rough start in life does not mean a rough finish. Brogan is thankful for his rescue and will be equally thankful for the family that makes him their next family member. * When considering adoption, keep in mind that dogs thrive on structure and routine. They adjust much better when their owners are committed to providing consistency and stability. The adoption fee for Brogan is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees. To get the ball rolling, head over to our Adoption Application and submit your application today. A Dog Star representative will contact you within 24 hours. To speed up the process, contact your vet and give them permission to speak with us.If you do not get a response within 24 hours, check your spam folder.July 30, 2026, 8:13 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hey-a! I’m Mario. I may be a little guy, but I’ve got a big heart, lots of love to give, and I’m very ready for my happily ever after. I came to rescue from a crowded shelter where I was running out of time, but thankfully I got my second chance. I’m a super friendly boy who loves meeting people. New friends? Amazing. Familiar faces? Even better! I’m always happy to see you and usually come with a wagging tail and cheerful little smile. I really just enjoy being part of the fun and close to my people. I also get along with other dogs and currently share my kennel area with 3 other dogs. I do especially well with female dogs, though, because I can sometimes get a little bossy with other boys. What can I say? I like to think I’m in charge sometimes. But overall, I’m still a very good boy and do just fine with proper introductions and respectful dog friends. I’m not sure how I do with cats or young kids yet, but I’ve shown everyone here what a sweet, happy companion I can be. I’m neutered, 4dx negative, fully vaccinated, and microchipped. I'm also current on proheart 12 and bravecto, so I’m all set and ready to start my next adventure with a family of my own. All I need now is someone to love me forever. Adoption fee: $300 Apply at: www.adoggie4you.org Mario is currently in Texas but can be transported to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago, Des Moines, Omaha, Cincinnati, Lexington, Kentucky, and locations along the East Coast for an additional $250 transport fee. Please note that transport is not available to Rhode Island or Massachusetts due to state regulations.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 30, 2026, 11:33 am
