Story
Reese is one amazing boy. He is a dachshund/hound mix, fully grown at 40 pounds and fully trained! He has a short black/tan/white coat, is four years old, and has so many positive attributes. He is a good-looking boy and a low to medium energy dog for a family that can have a slower pace to a bit more activity sprinkled into their daily adventures. He is calm boy and generates tons of sweetness and love. He enjoys the company of adults, cats and children. Slow and proper introductions to cats and lower key dogs will be a must for Reese. Once that threshold is crossed, he will do well with them. He will need more training with his leash skills but has perfected his skills with his house and crate training. He knows some commands, too. He is a sweet boy who will love having a family to love and be loved. Reese aims to impress and that he does. It is important to remember that although Reese is house trained, potty accidents can occur while adjusting to a new home environment. He was found as a stray, taken to a kill shelter in Louisiana and taken out of there because volunteers recognized his great personality. Dachshunds have personality traits that can be very appealing: loyal and affectionate, protective and alert, playful and cuddly. Hounds come in a variety of types. But their personalities can be similar as they are known to be inquisitive, friendly, and intelligent. Reese definitely has a mix of both.Reese will do well in a home with a family that can provide him with continued training, regular exercise, lots of socialization and most of all heaps of love and attention. Are you willing to take on the task of helping Reese transition to a new life where he is loved and appreciated? If yes, read on.The adoption fee for Reese is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees. To get the ball rolling, head over to our Adoption Application and submit your application today. A Dog Star representative will contact you within 24 hours. To speed up the process, contact your vet and give them permission to speak with us.If you do not get a response within 24 hours, check your spam folder.July 9, 2025, 6:50 am

Story
If you love Dachshund mixes, you are going to be smitten with Liam. He is just over 2 years and weighs 22 pounds. He has a short brown and white coat with those alert dark eyes, typical of dachshunds. He came into the rescue with another dog and was initially very dependent on it. But now with the help he is gaining confidence and independence. He is good with other dogs. He can be shy with little children and strangers, but time and patience will be the key to overcoming his shyness. It is not known if he has met a cat.Liam is house and leash trained (Please note that even trained dogs may have occasional accidents until they adapt to their new home and people). It is unknown if he has ever been crated.Dachshund mixes have personality traits that can be very appealing: loyal and affectionate, protective and alert, playful and cuddly. Interested? Read on!* When considering adoption, keep in mind that dogs thrive on structure and routine. They adjust much better when their owners are committed to providing consistency and stability. The adoption fee for Liam is $500. Story
PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.Abel- Dachshund mixAbel and his brother, Cain, were rescued from a sad situation. Their owner meant well but didn't have the means to take care of them. They were severely infested with fleas, to the point they had lost a lot of hair, and they were living outside. They were not being given adequate food and water and were just generally in poor condition. Abel appears to be a Dachshund mix. He is 3 years old and about 13 lbs. His coat is a rusty brown/gray color and is now slick and shiny. We have had him vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, tested for heartworms (negative!) And started on preventives for heartworms, fleas, and ticks. Abel is a sweet little boy who gets along well with other dogs, and is good with kids as long as they are gentle with him. While Cain and Abel came to us together, they don't appear to be particularly bonded to each other and will be fine separated. They get along well but don't necessarily depend on eachother. We are told they are brothers but they look nothing alike. Located in Arkansas, but transport is available. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them at one of the following times/locations. Harrisburg, PA 2am Saturdays Port Jervis, NJ 5am Saturdays Southington, CT 8am Saturdays East Hartford, CT 11am Saturdays To apply, please fill out the adoption app: https://form.jotform.com/212690945239059 Message or email apps.aasr@gmail.com with any questions.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Our typical adoption fee for puppies younger than 6 months old is $400, and for older puppies and adults, the usual fee is $350. This includes microchip, spay/neuter,  up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormings, flea/tick treatment, and heartworm test (if over 6 months old) as well as heartworm treatment if they test positive. There is a transport fee of $150 per dog, depending on the transporter. We use Pack Leaders Rescue Dog Transport most often, but also use Hearts Transport as well on occasion. Story
How adorable are we? Hi I’m Maverick. I’m a 3 month old male dachshund mix, around 7lbs and I have two brothers and one sister. We are ready to go now and cute as little buttons! If you are looking for a small, devoted friend, you just found us... we will make the perfect addition to any family. Dachshunds are known for being playful and energetic but with these little legs we are sure you can keep up. Please keep in mind that small children maybe rough for us so be sure that if you have smalls that they don't treat us like a toy. We just want walks and love and play and treats... the list goes on... Hurry, pups like us do not last long! *All of The Right to Live dogs are fostered locally in San Antonio Texas and will be transported to other states to their new families upon adoption. We believe fostering dogs and not having them decompress in a kenneled environment is more beneficial for the dogs and builds their trust and companionship in a family situation. Adoption fee includes transportation costs, previous/current medical treatment (spay/neuter, etc.) and a health certificate for cross-state travel*
