Story
PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet. Here’s a sad one and we know he’s not going to be the most popular, but we are hopeful. His name is Buster. He was found as a stray in horrible condition and we think he’d been in rough shape for quite a long time. His eyes were infected as well as his skin. We’ve treated his eyes and skin, but unfortunately, we think we’ve done pretty much all we can for his skin. We believe he was in this shape as a stray for so long, that his skin is permanently damaged. Some of his hair should continue to grown in but he may never have a full coat. He LOVES kids and he’s good with cats! He’s a sweet boy. He’s good with other dogs. We believe he is about 4 years old. He’s about 25-30 pounds. He is still on some eye drops and his foster mom is still giving baths with medicated shampoo every other week. We will send shampoo with whoever adopts this special boy and eye drops if still needed. We hope someone will see beyond his lack of fur and want to spoil this guy for the rest of his life. He is heartworm negative, UTD on vaccines, neutered, and on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. Located in Arkansas, but transport is available. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them at one of the following times/locations. Harrisburg, PA 2am Fridays Port Jervis, NY 5am Fridays or Southington, CT 8am Fridays East Hartford, CT 11am Fridays To apply, please fill out the adoption app: https://form.jotform.com/212690945239059 Message or email apps.aasr@gmail.com with any questions. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Our typical adoption fee for puppies younger than 6 months old is $400, and for older puppies and adults, the usual fee is $350. This includes microchip, spay/neuter,  up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormings, flea/tick treatment, and heartworm test (if over 6 months old) as well as heartworm treatment if they test positive. There is a transport fee of $150 per dog, depending on the transporter. We use Pack Leaders Rescue Dog Transport most often, but also use Hearts Transport as well on occasion. Please visit our Facebook page too! https://www.facebook.com/adoptastrayrescueorg For more info regarding adopting, email apps.aasr@gmail.com Thank you for considering one of our rescue babies!December 5, 2024, 7:33 pm

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!Violet and her 5 siblings were dropped off at a humane league with their mom.  A shelter is no place for puppies.  They get sick and die.  Lucky for Violet and her little family one of the wonderful volunteers at the shelter reached out to us and well the rest is history :)Violet has been spay'd and is ready for her forever home.  She will NOT be an only dog.  There must be another young, smaller dog in the home for her to play with.  You MUST have a fenced yard.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!October 14, 2024, 6:08 pm
