Story
Rosie is a 4 year old Doberman Rottweiler mix. Rosie is great at walking on a leash. She is also well trained with basic commands such as sit, down, stay, speak, roll over, come, and place. My family and I are needing to rehome Rosie due to having a newborn child. Rosie has epilepsy and takes a pill twice daily. Her medication is $5 for a 90 day supply. With Rosie’s epilepsy my wife and I feel we are unable to adequately provide the special care Rosie needs. We believe Rosie would do best with a family with no children or pets, but she has no problems with any dogs or children. Rosie does great at dog parks and likes meeting new people and children every time she goes out.

Story
Tierney is just a doll! He is a playful, sweet, engaging boy who is ready to take on the world with his new person. Poor baby found himself on the side of the road dumped by someone. He was starving. He did not know how to find food which is common for dogs dumped and was fortunate someone stopped and picked him up. Since coming to us he has been neutered and received all of his shots and has been on heartworm prevention and has received his microchip. He has been socializing with all of the dogs here at the rescue and he loves to play. He is not aggressive at all but will jump in to try and play with any group that is engaged at the moment. He is Crate trained extremely well! He loves to eat and is a little messy sometimes because he is so enthusiastic given that he was without food for some time, but you can pet him while he's eating and touch him and he is fine with that. He's very trusting and sweet. We crate feed all of our animals to instill in them a sense of safety, and he has really taken to that. He's ready to be part of a family and be the center of someone else's group. Please come to meet him! You won't be sorry.

Duchess

Doberman Pinscher

Female, 7 yrs 2 mos
McKinney, TX
Size
(when grown) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
Details
Not good with kids, Good with dogs, Not good with cats, Needs special attention, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Duchess was in a small, high kill shelter when we came across her information. Her eyes were so infected she couldn’t open them and the shelter had posted her as being blind. Our vet discovered that Duchess doesn’t produce tears and the chronic dry eye had been untreated so long her corneas were damaged and infected. This sweet girl was so shut down initially she had to remember what a special dog she is. We are trying our best to save her eyes, she gets 2 types of medicated drops twice a day and artificial tears as often as possible. She’s learned to let her foster clean her eyes and is good about getting her drops. She’s able to see now although not as well as we hope she can as we progress. She will need eye drops ongoing. Duchess now plays with the other dogs in her foster home and enjoys running around her yard. Her very favorite thing is getting attention and spending time with her humans. She just wants to totally devote herself to her human and take care of her family. This girl is a wonderful Doberman and an ambassador for the breed. She is house trained, can use a doggie door or ask to go outside if she doesn't have one. She is fine being left home alone or with her canine friends but would rather go wherever her human is going. She’s great going for rides and would be the perfect travel companion. Duchess is fully vetted - current with vaccines, spayed, on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, and is microchipped.

McKinney, TX
Size
(when grown) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
Details
Not good with kids, Good with dogs, Not good with cats, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
DOB: 8/1/23 Weight: approx. 65 lbs Ash is neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped and heartworm negative. He's looking for an active family that has lots of time to spend with him. He loves being right by his people's side and is as affectionate as they come. Ash is house and crate trained, and loves having plenty of things to chew on to keep him occupied. He has separation anxiety and wouldn't thrive in a home where his people are home often.  He's still young and learning his size, so Ash shouldn't be in a home with small children as he tends to get too excited and can knock them over.  If you're interested in meeting Ash, please apply online and we'll be in touch. Fee is $275 https://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoption-application/We do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in adopting from LHS, please complete an online application at http://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ and we will contact you asap about the status of your application.
