Story
Location: Medicine Hat Area// Age: 1 Year, 8 months// Sex: Spayed Female// Energy Level: Medium// Dogs: Yes, Gabby loves other dogs// Cats: Yes, but wants to be friebds and will chase// Kids: Yes// If sunshine could take dog form, it would look a lot like Gabby ☀️ This brown-eyed beauty is the definition of joy on four paws — playful, loving, and just the right mix of goofy and smart. Gabby spends her days romping around the yard with her foster playmate, trading zoomies for cuddle breaks and never turning down a snack (seriously… she’s very food-motivated 🍗). Gabby loves dogs, thinks cats are fascinating (dog-savvy cats only, please — she really wants to be friends!), and she’s a total sweetheart with kids. She’s the kind of pup who fits right in — whether it’s family movie night, a weekend hike, or a road trip to somewhere new. She’s spayed, vaccinated, and ready to find her forever people — the ones who will include her in all their adventures and love her for her playful, happy heart. Because honestly? Gabby isn’t just a good dog. She’s a great dog — the kind that makes every day brighter. 💛If you would like the opportunity to meet Gabby - please complete an application on our website and one of our volunteers will be in touch to arrange a phone call: https://www.ruffstartanimalrescue.com/dog-application-form

Story
Location: Edmonton, AB // Age: Approx 2 years old // Sex: Spayed female // Energy Level: Medium // Dogs: Yes! Cats: Yes! Kids: Not tested, but likely ok // Vetting: Up to date on vaccines // 🐶 Once upon a time, Dio lived her life at the end of a chain. But those days are long behind her, and this brave, beautiful girl is busy discovering what it means to be a loved family dog — and honestly, she’s absolutely thriving. 🌟 Dio is a medium-energy, walk-loving, people-adoring little lady. If you enjoy neighborhood strolls and being greeted with pure joy every time you meet someone new, she’s your girl. The only time she pulls on leash is when she spots a 🐇 “fast-moving fluffy thing of mystery” — otherwise, she’s a delight to walk. 💛 Inside the home, Dio has embraced all the cozy comforts she missed out on. She’s house trained, sleeps soundly through the night (preferably snuggled right next to her human), and gets along wonderfully with dogs, cats, and humans of all sizes. Her foster mom says she’s “so sweet and lovable… she’s perfect.” And honestly? We believe it. ✨ And here’s the best part — Dio has been working hard on her manners! Shoes are officially off the menu, and she now happily directs all that chewing energy into her favorite chew toys like a very good girl. 🦴 She’s learning what’s hers, and she’s proud of it. She’s also discovered something new that she absolutely loves: car rides! 🚗 Whether it’s an adventure or a quick errand, Dio is happy to hop in and go along for the ride. Because Dio spent so much of her early life without companionship, she would truly thrive in a home with another dog buddy to play with and learn from. She loves toys, playtime, walks, and soaking up affection like a little love sponge. If you’re looking for a gentle, loyal best friend who will adore you endlessly, Dio is ready to start her happily-ever-after. 💛 She’s survived a tough beginning — now she deserves a future full of love, comfort, and adventure. ✨ If you would like to chat more with us about Dio and set up a meet and greet, please complete an application on our website and one of our volunteers will be in touch: https://www.ruffstartanimalrescue.com/dog-application-form

Bali's been trying to make a snowman...sure would be helpful if he had opposable thumbs. 🤔 Bali has been loving the snow, there's so much to do with it! Trying to catch the snowflakes as they land, making little doggy-angels on the ground, though Bali's favourite part might be getting to curl up under the blankets afterwards! ⛄ Bali is only 6 months old, he's looking for a home he can keep exploring and being his charming self. Bali is a wonderful, curious, clever, and friendly pup that would make an excellent addition to any family. He makes a great little or big brother, too! 🌴 Interested in setting up a meet and greet? Please reach out to us through email or phone! Looking for more information? Cairn Terrier

Story
Location: Linden, AB // Age: Approx 5 Years Old // Weight: 15lbs // Sex: Spayed Female // Energy Level: Medium // Dogs: Yes // Cats: Untested // Kids: Yes, older dog savvy kids // Some love stories aren’t romantic… they’re legendary. Bonnie and Clyde have been side-by-side for a very long time, and they intend to keep it that way. They play together, nap together, explore together, and yes — occasionally bicker like siblings who have shared one toy for too many years. But at the end of the day, you’ll always find them curled up close, fast asleep, perfectly content as long as they’re together. These two are equal parts adorable chaos and heart-melting sweetness. Clyde is the tiny, busy, hilarious one. He bounces through life with enthusiasm, loves a good game of tug with Bonnie, and has the classic bold chihuahua personality that makes you laugh daily. He’s still learning his manners and would do best in a home that understands small dogs with big opinions and is happy to continue his positive, force-free training. He can be a bit particular about food and “his” favourite sleeping spots, and he sometimes gets nippy when he’s overly excited — all things that are improving with structure and consistency. He’s crate trained, mostly house trained, good in the car, and happiest when Bonnie is nearby. Bonnie is the social butterfly of the duo. She adores people, is curious about the world, and brings a lovely balance to Clyde’s antics. She loves toys, fetch, chew sticks, and of course, tug of war with her partner in crime. Bonnie is house trained, crate trained, walks nicely on leash (even if she does a few happy circles), and settles beautifully when left alone. She prefers people over other dogs and can be protective of food, so mealtimes need a little management — something she’s already learning in foster care. Together, they are endlessly entertaining. Watching them play tug is like watching a comedy show, and their nighttime routine of choosing beds near each other is guaranteed to melt your heart. Bonnie and Clyde are looking for a home that: *Understands and appreciates bonded dogs. *Is committed to continuing their training using positive reinforcement. *Has older, dog-savvy children or adults. *Is happy to manage feeding routines and continue working on manners. *Will keep them together, always. They have so much love to give and so much personality to share. If you’re ready for double the laughter, double the cuddles, and double the charm, Bonnie and Clyde are ready to steal your heart — together. Combined adoption fee: $850. If you would like to learn more about Bonnie and Clyde, please complete an application on our website: https://www.ruffstartanimalrescue.com/dog-application-form

Cece (and Rascal)

Good with kids, Good with dogs, Good with cats, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Location: Parkland County (Edmonton Area) // Age: Rascal is 3 years, Cece is 13 // Sex: Neutered males // Energy level: Rascal is medium, Cece is low // Dogs: Yes // Cats: Yes // Kids: Yes // Meet Cece & Rascal 💛🐶 Double the love. Double the personality. Double the tail wags. Cece and Rascal are a devoted duo who balance each other in the sweetest way — like peanut butter and jelly, sunshine and shade, or naps and zoomies. 🐾 Cece – The Gentle Soul: Cece is the calmer half of this bonded pair. With his moderate-to-low energy, he’s happiest lounging nearby, quietly following you from room to room, or settling at the foot of your bed for the night. He walks beautifully on leash and enjoys stopping to sniff the world around him. Squirrels and birds are very interesting (and sometimes worth a bark!), but he doesn’t lunge — just observes with curiosity. He adores gentle affection, especially ear and neck scratches. Cece is easygoing, sweet, and happiest simply being close to his people. He may be partially deaf, but he watches closely and takes his cues from you — and from Rascal. He’s incredibly adaptable and thrives on routine. At night, he sleeps peacefully and is reliably house trained with regular outings. He’s an old soul who takes life in stride. 🐾 Rascal – The Spirited Sidekick: Rascal brings the sparkle! Moderately high energy, playful, and treat-motivated, he loves walks, jogs, toys, and interactive play. He’s smart, eager to learn, and very responsive — especially when snacks are involved. He’s affectionate and expressive — expect happy vocal greetings and full-body wiggles when you come home. Rascal thrives on connection and absolutely adores being involved in whatever you’re doing. If you sit down, he’s there. If you get up, he’s ready. If you leave the room, he’s checking in. And the sweetest part? If Rascal goes outside without Cece, he waits at the door for him. Their bond is undeniable and heart-melting. 🏡 Their Ideal Home: Cece and Rascal would love a family who appreciates both cozy downtime and playful energy. A fenced yard would be wonderful for Rascal to stretch his legs and show off his “spitfire” zoomies, while Cece supervises with calm approval. They’ve met other dogs and a cat respectfully, showing curiosity without issues. They are not resource guarders and happily share space, toys, and affection. They sleep through the night on their beds or the couch, free roam respectfully when left alone, and are generally very easy to care for. With regular bathroom breaks, they are reliably house trained. Because Cece can be sensitive around his back end (and will gently warn if something hurts), a family that is respectful of his space and mindful with handling would be ideal. Rascal can get playfully mouthy when excited but responds well to direction. 💛 Why You’ll Love Them: They are incredibly loving, affectionate, and loyal. They get excited for their walks. They nap like pros. They watch you like you’re their whole world. Together, they offer the perfect balance of calm companionship and playful joy. If you’re looking for two best friends who already love each other deeply and are ready to love you just as much, Cece and Rascal are waiting. 🐾Because some bonds are too special to break — and these two are meant to stay side by side. If you're interested in meeting Cece and Rascal, please complete an application on our webiste: https://www.ruffstartanimalrescue.com/dog-application-form

Good with kids, Good with dogs, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Location: Edmonton, AB // Age: Approx 9 years // Sex: Neutered male // Energy Level: Low-Medium // Dogs: Yes // Cats: Untested but likley ok // Kids: Older, calm kids // 🐾Milo is a sweet little Chihuahua boy who proves that the best things really do come in small, cuddly packages. With his gentle nature and low energy level, Milo enjoys a relaxed lifestyle—short walks, cozy naps, and being as close to his people as possible. When he’s not curled up beside you, he has the cutest little spurts of energy where he’ll trot around happily before settling back in for another snooze. 🐾This affectionate senior absolutely adores people. He greets everyone like a long-lost friend and would happily spend his days following his person from room to room or wiggling his way into your lap for snuggles. 🐾Milo walks beautifully on leash and seems to already know his manners, often checking in with his handler and stopping when you stop. He also enjoys enrichment toys—especially hide-a-treat games (because snacks are one of his favorite things!). 🐾Like many small dogs, Milo is still working on his housetraining. He would do best in a home with easy, frequent access to the outdoors to help him succeed. Right now, his foster mom uses belly bands to help manage occasional accidents while he continues learning. Milo also tends to gobble his food and water, so he currently eats and drinks from slow feeders to keep things safe and comfortable. 🐾Milo gets along well with other dogs, though he can be a little protective of his people or food at first until he feels secure. With proper introductions and time to settle in, he should do well with a friendly canine companion. Cats would likely be fine, and due to his small size and gentle nature, he would do best in a home with older, calm children. 🐾This little senior deserves a home where he will be cherished, spoiled, and loved for the rest of his days. Milo has so much affection to give, and he’s ready to share it with a family who will adore having a loyal shadow and cuddle buddy by their side. 🐾If you’re looking for a calm, loving companion with a soft heart and a gentle soul, Milo might just be your perfect match.
