Story
Meet Toasty (male, 1–2 years)Toasty is about 1–2 years old and is looking for a patient, loving home where he can finally feel safe. Before coming into rescue, Toasty spent time surviving as a stray around Safeway. Because of that, he missed out on learning many of the things most dogs are taught. He doesn't know how to walk on a leash yet, and new places or experiences can be overwhelming. When he's scared, he may shut down instead of exploring.Toasty isn't looking for perfection—he's looking for someone who understands that trust takes time. With a quiet, calm home and lots of patience, he's sure to keep making progress. He would likely do best in a home without young children at first, as he needs a peaceful environment where he can build confidence at his own pace.He may make a wonderful companion for someone who has a secure yard and enjoys simply having a sweet dog by their side. More than anything, Toasty just wants to be loved, even if he doesn't quite know how to ask for it yet.If you have a gentle heart and are willing to give Toasty the time he deserves, you'll have the chance to watch a shy boy blossom into a loyal best friend. If you'd like, I can also make it a little shorter or more adoption-profile friendly for social media or a rescue website.
