Story
Meet Sergio, a soulful 13-year-old Dachshund blend with a heart of gold and eyes that speak of a lifetime of wisdom. Sergio recently found himself looking for a new adventure after his owner transitioned into assisted living. While he misses his old routine, this sweet, laid-back gentleman is ready to bring his calm energy to a new forever home in 2026. If there are kids in the home or grandchildren that visit, he'll do best in a home if the kids are 5+ for his quality of life. Why Sergio is the perfect companion:* Expert Houseguest: He is fully housetrained and knows exactly how to be a good boy indoors.* Low Maintenance: As a senior, he prefers a gentle stroll and a cozy nap over high-energy antics.* Sweet & Steady: He has a mellow, friendly nature that makes him an instant best friend. Sergio is proof that love doesn't have an expiration date. If you have a quiet corner and plenty of treats to share, he’s waiting to meet you! To get started on the adoption process, visit https://azfriends.org/testing/adopt.html to complete an adoption consultation form, and then stop by the Adoption Center to meet with one of our adoption counselors. Or you can just come and see us and fill out a consultation form upon arrival! No appointments are necessary and you can come and see us any time we are open. Please go to our website (www.azfriends.org) to fill out a consultation form then come and see us! We do require any family interested in meeting our dogs or cats to fill out a consultation form – this form helps us determine if the dog/cat and the home are a good match, since it is so easy to fall in love with a photo, without knowing the personality of the animal. Once you have filled out the online Adoption Consultation Form, just come in and see us (or come and see us and fill out the consultation form upon arrival)! Please note that ALL dogs and cats are available to the first home that meets the dog or cat that we feel is a good match. In order to help make the best match, we do want all family members (dogs and humans) to meet any potential new family member. Our adoption center hours are: Closed Sunday/Monday; Tuesday 10a-2p, Wednesday 3p-7p, Thursday 3p-7p, Friday 10a-2p, Saturday 10a-4p. We are located at 952 W Melody Avenue in Gilbert (zip code 85233).All animals are altered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, licensed (dogs). Cats tested for FELV/FIV. Dogs tested for Heartworm. All animals are available to the first family that is a good match, and if we have more than one animal who is a good match, there will be a lottery for all matches. Note that families must have come in to our adoption center and spoken with an adoption counselor prior to any lottery (when we have lotteries, they usually occur on Saturday mornings).

Story
Available for Adoption – Meet Mila  Mila is a truly sweet girl looking for her forever home. She hasn’t had much socialization or gentle handling in her past, so she can be a little shy and unsure of people at first. But give her about 24 hours, and she will become your very best friend. After having three litters back-to-back, it’s finally Mila’s turn to enjoy life as a young lady — to be loved, spoiled, and cherished the way she deserves. We’re praying someone gives her that chance, because she is genuinely a lovely girl with so much love to give. She is crate trained, potty trained with us, good with older children, great with all dogs. Mila has had 2 vet visits, is neutered, Microchipped, UTD on all vaccinations, had a 4 DX test (testing for Lyme disease and two types of tick-borne illnesses), flea/tick/heartworm prevention (Nexgard Plus), 2 dewormings, and a 2 fecal tests. Adopters will receive all original paperwork, a 14-day health guarantee, a collar, harness, leash, seatbelt lock, and a week's worth of food. We operate on a first-come, first-served basis and are by appointment only. We are located in Mesa near Gilbert/Brown & offer flexible hours for meet-and-greet appointments. We operate on a first come first serve basis. Private message if interested!Mila adores cuddling, happily sits on your lap, loves sunbathing, and is perfectly content just hanging out by your side. She will make an incredibly devoted and gentle companion. ##2659245##

Story
This is Boone. He is as stubborn as a dog could be. He is somewhat potty trained using door bells, but could use a refreshers. He does not learn well with negative consequences, only positive reinforcement. We are rehoming because he has a tendency to resource guard his food and has attacked my chickens and even killed one. He has never bit anyone, but my worry is that I have small children that are vulnerable to dogs. I have to create a safe environment for everyone in my home and I dont feel its right to keep him in a house that he cant fullhimself. I am requiring that you have no children and that you have had dachshunds before or currently, as I don’t want the chance of him being rehired again. He has lots of energy, he is eager to spend time with you. He is crate trained and does well without a lot of attention, he does not have any type of separation anxiety. He currently is fed a raw diet and we were waiting to get him neutered to let his back mature. Please no breeding
