Story
This is Boone. He is as stubborn as a dog could be. He is somewhat potty trained using door bells, but could use a refreshers. He does not learn well with negative consequences, only positive reinforcement. We are rehoming because he has a tendency to resource guard his food and has attacked my chickens and even killed one. He has never bit anyone, but my worry is that I have small children that are vulnerable to dogs. I have to create a safe environment for everyone in my home and I dont feel its right to keep him in a house that he cant fullhimself. I am requiring that you have no children and that you have had dachshunds before or currently, as I don’t want the chance of him being rehired again. He has lots of energy, he is eager to spend time with you. He is crate trained and does well without a lot of attention, he does not have any type of separation anxiety. He currently is fed a raw diet and we were waiting to get him neutered to let his back mature. Please no breeding

Story
Looking for a FOSTER-TO-ADOPT person. In the wee hours of December 8 2025, NERO and his siblings were born into our rescue to a stray mama who came to us the prior day from a local shelter. NERO is now 11 weeks old, weighs almost 9 lbs, been wormed and had his first two vaccinations. We are looking for a Foster to adopt home until we can get him neutered and the remainder of his vaccinations for you. Using google computations, we estimate that as an adult, he will be at the heavier end of "small dog" classification. NERO has long fur with shorter legs and his tail curl up. His tongue is black. I had no idea of his breed, but we did a DNA on two of the pups. Results: 35% Chihuahua 22% Besenji, 22% Border Collie 21% Miniature Long haired Dachshund. His mommy is an 18 lb Siky Terrier. NERO's PERSONALITY: If you are reading this, I assume you are looking for a mix breed larger puppy. This boy is a cuddle-bug. We know how important that babies get lots of human contact to become a socialized loving pet. He has been showered with cuddles and kisses from the hour he was born and loves to snuggle into your arms. AND, he is currently interested in going potty outside. We think he will be easy to train. We are looking for that perfect person who is willing to FOSTER-TO-ADOPT him until we can complete his vaccinations and get him neutered. Are you that person??? If so, please drop us an email. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ At RoRescue, we strive to match the dog's personality to the best possible future home. This, in no way, casts judgement on the potential adopter. Our primary concern is the dog's future safety, health and happiness. ALL RORESCUE DOGS are vet checked, spayed/neutered, dental cleaning (if needed), microchipped and UTD on shots. We do NOT adopt to: * adopters who intend for the dog to live outside. * out-of area or out of state locations. *homes where someone smokes cigarettes, vape or smoke prescribed or non-prescribed substances inside or surrounding areas of their home.
