Story
Hi there, I'm Oakley! I'm young, sweet, playful, goofy, mellow, and gentle. I'm a water-lover at heart, splashing in puddles and chasing the sprinkler are my favorite pastimes. The outdoors is my playground, where I can chase butterflies and roll in the grass. I'm also a mellow fellow, happy to lounge in the shade on a warm day. My goofy side shines when I play with my toys, sometimes tripping over my own excitement. But at the end of the day, I'm a gentle soul, seeking the comfort of a loving family. If you're looking for a playful, outdoor-loving goofball who can also be your mellow, gentle companion, then I'm your guy. Adopt me and let's create wonderful memories together! Learn more about me and fill out an online adoption application on the From the Heart Rescue website at: www.fthar.org. My requested adoption donation includes my spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations and medical care to date, microchip implantation and registration, collar, leash, and ID tag. If Im not exactly what you want, please visit my other friends in rescue at From The Heart Rescue on our website at www.fthar.org.

Story
Welcome Milo to the pack! His elderly owner was no longer able to care for him and family members took him in with the intention to rehome him. When they were unable to rehome him, they went to the vet to request euthanasia. There was nothing medically wrong with Milo and thankfully the vet was able to get the caretakers to surrender him to rescue. Milo is about 10 years old and weighs in just under 15 pounds. He has been settling into his foster nicely and making new friends with the resident dogs. He seems to be crate trained and asks to go outside. We are going to give him a few days to decompress and then he will be ready to take on his next adventure looking for a family to love him forever. Story
Triton found himself as a stray at Animal Services. With his awkward walk and terrible matting, he caught the eye of one of our rescue partners who took him home and got him cleaned up. She posted him on her page where we saw him and wanted to see if we could help him. Turns out Triton's funny walk is from a birth defect. Both of his femurs are curved which then causes his knees to turn outward. While he gets around well, he does walk on his feet, because of the wear and tear on his knees he already has arthritis. So, he is on daily anti-inflammatories for that. Somewhere down the road, he may need to use a wheelchair but for now and the foreseeable future, Triton is plenty mobile on his own. Of course, walks are not his thing, but belly rubs are what he craves. Triton likes to be with his people. He is a mellow dog with small bursts of excitement when you play with him. Dinner is his absolute favorite time of day. While Triton loves to play with toys, he also likes to eat them. So, he cannot have any stuffies. But he likes a good chew bone just as much. Triton is part poodle and will require regular grooming. If you are interested in Triton, please call around and speak to a groomer to find a salon you are comfortable with and get an estimate on what grooming costs would be. Triton's foster called us one day to let us know that Triton had had a seizure. We got him into the vet to have him checked out. The tests showed nothing concerning. It is common in dogs for seizures to be idiopathic (no know cause). So, we kept an eye on him to see if he had more seizures and unfortunately, he did. After 2 in a month, the vet put Triton on anti-seizure medication. Since being on the medicine he has not had any more seizures. He takes the seizure medication twice a day. Both of his medications are affordable and help him to live his best and most comfortable life. Do you have a special place in your heart for Triton? Story
BamBam was surrendered to us after he was attacked by an off-leash dog while out for a walk with his human mom. The attack caused damage to his eye and his mom could not afford the care he needed. BamBam came to us with his brother, Fozzie. BamBam had surgery to remove the injured eye and has already adapted to his new way of life. BamBam is a senior pup that likes to sit and watch the world go by. He enjoys sitting in the sun and occasionally barking to let the neighborhood know the latest news. He is easy going and makes friends quickly. We have discovered BamBam also likes to snuggle under a big fluffy blanket. BamBam is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on his vaccines. BamBam seems to be a pro at house manners. His fur does grow out as seen in the photos and whoever adopts him will need to be prepared for the grooming expense that comes with owning a dog with a coat prone to matting. BamBam is ready to take off on his next adventure and find his new family. Learn more about me and fill out an online adoption application on the From the Heart Rescue website at: www.fthar.org. Story
Say hi to Ella! Ella is an awesome little dog with a playful spirit. She recently rejoined From the Heart after 10 years. Turns out Ella has allergies, and her family was tired of struggling with them. After looking through her medical records we realized she had never been fully and properly treated for her allergies, so we started at square one. The first thing we did was remove chicken from her diet completely. Her itchies improved almost overnight. Next, we put her on carprofen for her arthritis. Pretty much any dog over the age of 8 has the beginnings of arthritis. Even if they don't show pain. And finally, we put her on daily Apoquel as OTC antihistamines simply weren't enough. Ella's whole life improved. Ella loves to cuddle on the couch. She really likes to see if she can squeeze behind you. Watching Ella run around the backyard, you would never guess that she is 12 years old.She will keep your yard clear of any birds that might try and visit. Watching her run zoomies is exhausting. Ella gets along with other dogs well. And aside from her allergies is a healthy girl. She would like to find a chill home with another playful dog. Ella does require her daily meds and a chicken free diet. Please consider this if looking to adopt Miss Ella. Story
GiGi or Javalina as her foster family calls her, found herself with her sister at the shelter after her human mom passed away. Their mom's husband tried to give them away to another rescue in the area, but the rescue was full and asked the man if he could hold onto the girls for a couple of weeks while they made space. He said he could not. Later that day they were both picked up as strays and taken to the shelter. The shelter put out a plea for help. Her sister, NaNa, had a seizure in the AC truck on the way to the shelter and they knew she may need medical help. (Thankfully it seems she was just overheated and has not had another seizure since.) From the Heart couldn't pull one without the other, so we set about to finding a little more room. 2 of our wonderful foster homes made just enough space to welcome these senior ladies. Javalina LOVES to cuddle. So far, she hasn't met a stranger-human or dog. She is very easy going and would be happy sitting with you watching TV or supervising your gardening skills. Javalina also enjoys a good belly rub. Javaline will NOT walk on leash so, if you are looking for a walking buddy, she is not the dog for you. Her foster has tried many times to take her on a walk, but she just lays down and refuses to move. Javalina is an old lady and has decided life is for naps and cuddles.
