Story
Meet Frankie, the medium haired pastel calico! Frankie came into the Shelter with two buds Nagini & Fenrir after their previous guardian had a baby who was fairly allergic to the cats. Although all three cats lived together, they are not required to be adopted together in their next home. Their previous guardian reports that Frankie lived with a newborn, 3 year old and 5 year old child and did well with them. Frankie was described as the most reserved, but still very sweet, of the trio. Our veterinary team has done an examination on Frankie and have observed that she does have some moderate dental calculus and gingivitis. With these conditions and being an older cat, Frankie would thrive with an adopter who will establish a relationship with a veterinarian shortly after adoption and be willing to take her in for more frequent health checks to keep her staying comfortable as she ages. Nagini’s adoption fee is reduced by $20 thanks to the Shelley’s Angels; a fund that draws adopter’s eyes towards often overlooked senior cats looking for the purrfect retirement home! Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.

Meet Nagini, the fluffy black cat! Nagini came into the Shelter with two buds Frankie & Fenrir after their previous guardian had a baby who was fairly allergic to the cats. Although all three cats lived together, they are not required to be adopted together in their next home. Their previous guardian reports that Nagini lived with a newborn, 3 year old and 5 year old child and did well with them. Nagini is the most outgoing of the trio. Our veterinary team has done an examination on Nagini and have observed that he does have some moderate dental calculus and is overweight. With these conditions and being an older cat, Nagini would thrive with an adopter who will establish a relationship with a veterinarian shortly after adoption and be willing to take him in for more frequent health checks to keep him staying comfortable as he ages. Nagini’s adoption fee is reduced by $40 - $20 for the Bogey Fund (a fund that draws adopter’s eyes towards often overlooked black cats in the Shelter) and $20 for Shelley’s Angels (a fund that draws adopter’s eyes towards senior cats in the Shelter looking for a retirement home). Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. Meet Smokey & Jack – a bonded pair of 6 year old boys. Jack is the more outgoing of the two and was noted to be very friendly. Smokey is a bit more cautious but follows in Jack’s pawprints. Smokey and Jack would thrive as the only animals in the home or with some cat-friendly mellow other kitties. Smokey and Jack would prefer a home free of children and dogs. They were indoors only in their previous home and are looking to keep with that trend in their next home. Jack’s favorite activities in his previous home were sleeping, playing with mouse toys and watching out the window at birds. Smokey’s favorite activities were similar but he also enjoyed watching television! To help keep them together for adoption – their adoption fee is 2 for 1!Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week!
