Story
One of our favorites is Wednesday. She is a senior medium/long haired black sweetie with a heart condition. We will be getting a recheck soon, but she is not on daily medication and is doing well. Wednesday loves playing with wand toys and enjoys meeting with friends at the water cooler (fountain). Her foster parents say she likes to be brushed but not on her belly. She comes over to her foster mom while she's relaxing and will lay next to her and she will let her foster dad cradle her like a baby. She doesn't mind being held for a short while. Wednesday is a beautiful petite (about 6 lbs) senior (about 12 yrs old) medium haired black beauty with a heart murmur in need of the best loving home. We rescued her from a local shelter where she was scared and lonely after her previous owner passed away. We drove in the pouring rain to pick her up before she was out of time at the shelter. She is now comfy in her foster home. We got her to our vet specialist who examined her heart and overall health and the good news is that her heart murmur and arrythmia does not seem to be as severe as it was first diagnosed. She does not need to be on medication for it at this time. Her bloodwork looked normal, she had some tartar on her teeth we picked off because we feel it's unsafe for her to go under anesthesia for a full dental cleaning. Overall she's in fair health for an old lady. She would be happiest as the only cat or pet with no kids in the house to keep a quiet environment for her but she has become good friends with the cats in her foster home. She is vocal and affectionate, will come up to you and rub her face on you. She is a picky eater but we found what she likes. All cats are at least 8 weeks old at time of adoption, are spayed/neutered, FeLV/FIV tested, dewormed, microchipped, vaccinated (FVRCP and rabies), and given a starter dose of flea/tick/heartworm prevention. Adoption application does not guarantee adoption. We have a no declawing policy and all cats are placed in indoor homes only. If interested, first step is to apply at rescueangelssomd.com. If pet is listed here, he/she is still available.

Story
A unique little girl with one eye, Agnes is hoping for a forever home! From foster mom: Agnes (female spayed gray and white medium hair) came to me as a feral kitten with a severe URI that caused the loss of her eye. Agnes is a fantastic cat, so pretty and soft. She is a little bit afraid of being touched, but she loves to be around people. If she gets locked out of the room, she will cry at the door til you let her in. She absolutely loves other cats, she sleeps with one of our cats and plays with two others (Nut and BK - also available for adoption). If she is sleeping on the couch, you can come up and pet her. I think for the right person she would be learn and love to be held and get pets and love her. She just needs time and patience. She would love to be adopted with her brother from another mother, BK. They spend a lot of time together and would make a great pair. She would also be good with other cats in the house. Please complete an application at rescueangelssomd.com.

Break out the fancy feast! It's her royal highness, Sophie, the senior cat. Sophie is a stunning long-haired calico kitty. She enjoys delicious meals of fancy feast and stuffed mice toys. Sophie is a fancy gal and needs a minute to warm up her new subjects. Just go slow with her and let her know you are here to give her the royal treatment. Sophie will be your benevolent, fluffy queen! Sophie previously lived with another cat and may do well in a multi-cat household with a proper introduction. Sophie has been described as tolerant of other cats, good with brushing and being petted. Her previous family says she has excellent litterbox manners and is a lap-loving, vocal girl. This sweet senior just needs a loving home to live out her golden years. Could that home be yours? Come meet Sophie today! If you'd like to meet our available pets, please check the "shelter information" box on the listing to see if the pet is located at our Fairfax Campus (4500 West Ox Road, Fairfax) or our Lorton Campus (8875 Lorton Road, Lorton). Story
Princess is a tiny little girl, extremely sweet and gentle. She has so far been a bit more of a loner, not anti social at all, just spending time in her own spots. She isn't agressive in the slightest, and loves to be brushed. Princess will be the perfect pet for someone who doesn't want a cat in their face all the time, but want to get cuddles on occasion.
