Story
This poor boy is very overwhelmed here at the shelter. Sadly, his owner passed away so we don't have any information what he likes, or what his life had been like in the past. He would likely do best in a quiet home without kids, or pets. He will need someone who is able to take things slow so that he can feel safe and comfortable

Story
Hello there, I'm Click. I've been told I'm quite the gentle soul. I'm not one for big fusses, I prefer a quiet corner where I can just be. I can be a bit shy, but don't let that fool you. Once I get to know you, I'll be your loyal companion. I value my independence, but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate a good chin scratch every now and then. Life's simple pleasures, you know? I'm looking for someone who understands my mellow nature and respects my space. If you're seeking a sweet, gentle, and independent friend, I might just be your perfect match.Perhaps you will come and meet me at Yay for Strays Cat Cafe - I am on my way to hang out with my friends!

Story
Hello!!! My name is Cookie, you can find me at the shelter protecting my sister Oreo. I'm a sweet man who loves to be pet, and will nuzzle into your hand as you give me chin scratches. I'm sweet, cuddly and super soft, and I think you could say I'm a pretty confident cat. My sister is a little bit more shy so she tends to follow my lead, but if you have the time and patience I'm sure we'd be a great fit in your home. Adopt us and gain 2 new best friends!

Story
Amelia Rose came to us with a terrible upper respiratory infection that destroyed her left eye. This poor girl also had just about every intestinal parasite a cat can get. For the first month in foster care, she was forced to endure frequent doses of yukky medications. She was very hand shy to begin with, and constantly being grabbed and held for medication has caused her to be very hand shy. She loves to be petted, however if she thinks I'm going to try to grab her, she takes off. She will get on my lap and cuddles with me in bed, but she can't be picked up. I had to sneak up on her to catch her for her spay surgery and she has already forgiven me for that. She will need a patient owner and a very calm home. Crazy dogs running around or young kids being loud and running through the house would terrify her.Amelia is not a hider. When we have company over, she does come out watch what's going on. If I have a friend over to watch movies, Amelia may get on her lap, but if we have several friends over for game night, she just watches from a distance. She really just hates the idea of being held or picked up. Nail trims or giving medication will be next to impossible unless she overcomes her fear of being held. I've only trimmed her nails once and it required getting her to eat a sedative in a treat, waiting for her to go into a dog crate for food and locking her in there. I then called a friend to come over and it took about 5 minutes to be able to catch her with a towel, even though she was crated. My friend then had to hold her down on the sofa, while I searched for her paws inside the towel so I could do her nails. It was quite a process and not something I look forward to doing again.Amelia's best friend is another kitten that's been here for a few months while being treated for an eye issue. She chases and wrestles with the kitten many times during the day. She gets along with everyone from my younger cats to my seniors and is fine with our mellow dogs. I do not adopt my kittens out as an only cat. If you are interested, please email Beagmom1@yahoo.com. Thank you. **All Shelter to Home animals are fully vetted per their age. We believe in pediatric spay and neuter. All animals will be spayed or neutered, tested for FIV/FeLV or heartworm, given age-appropriate boosters and rabies, dewormed, flea treated, and anything extra that is needed to give this animal a wonderful forever life in a permanent home. Adoption fees are usually $50 for cats and between $150-$250 for dogs, unless the pet is sponsored or we are running a promotion. Please visit our website at sheltertohome.com for information on our adoption process.**April 24, 2024, 3:11 pm

Story
Templeton and his brother were taken from an especially rough hoarding situation. Police intervened and all animals were extracted. It took a while for Templeton to overcome his fear of being hurt, but he did it! And is he ever a silly boy! He would thrive in a home with another mild mannered cat, and currently lives with calm dogs. If you want to know more about this cat, email us here: wacvolunteers@gmail.com! * AGE: 2 years old * TEMPERAMENT: Lap cat, would be ok as a solitary or with another mild cat * Why are they at the shelter? Rescued by police * Any Health issues? None known but can be nervous in hectic surroundings * How are they with other cats? Dogs? Good but needs to be with gentle animals * Volunteer Comments? " Templeton is such a brave cat!" "He loves brushing and attention." Thank you for your interest in adopting a shelter cat! NOW HOW DO I MEET OR ADOPT THIS CAT? !. Story
Kai's story is somewhat of a sad one. It's the kind of story that often leaves us scratching our heads, but we don't have time to dwell on what went wrong with Kai's situation. We focus on finding her a better one. We know that there is someone out there who won't think twice about giving this wonderful girl everything she needs. Kai is about 10 years old, she requires blood pressure medication and special food for her kidneys. And, she is blind. Kai is a great lap cat, great with other cats, and even plays with some toys. Her vision problem doesn't seem to bother her at all. All she needs is a home where there's easy access to her food, water, and litterboxes. She shouldn't have to jump on things or do stairs in order to find what she needs. She hasn't been with dogs in her foster home, so we don't know how she is with them. It should be noted that most people with cats and dogs keep the cat items somewhere that the dog can't get to them. It is important that Kai have easy access to those things so it may not work out to put her in a home with dogs, but we would certainly be willing to discuss it with a potential family to see if it could work. Kai's blood pressure medication, Amoldipine, is about $12 for 60 days. Her prescription kidney food, of course, can be pricey, but we know Kai is worth it. This poor girl, who was given up by her owners when her age started catching up with her, deserves to be given everything she needs. If you'd like to meet Kai, or just have some questions about her, please let us know. We'd love to talk to you about her. **All Shelter to Home animals are fully vetted per their age.
