Story
Penny is a very sweet girl who absolutely loves kids! She is really good with our adult male cat, but is consistently pestering our adult female and it is causing too much strife in the household. It is probably best for her to be rehoused into a family with male cats or as a single cat family. She has a copper heart marking on top of her head. It breaks my heart to give her up, however, being the youngest of our rescues, the difficult decision to re-home her is obvious as our older cats have been with us longer. She is 1 year old. Absolutely wonderful with children, seeks them out to be in the room wherever they go. She is not declawed, but rarely uses her claws on people! She loves to crawl into my lap and snuggle with me every morning and you can always find her curled up sleeping in a chair wherever the people are. She is definitely not a shy girl!

Story
Amelia Rose came to us with a terrible upper respiratory infection that destroyed her left eye. This poor girl also had just about every intestinal parasite a cat can get. For the first month in foster care, she was forced to endure frequent doses of yukky medications. She was very hand shy to begin with, and constantly being grabbed and held for medication has caused her to be very hand shy. She loves to be petted, however if she thinks I'm going to try to grab her, she takes off. She will get on my lap and cuddles with me in bed, but she can't be picked up. I had to sneak up on her to catch her for her spay surgery and she has already forgiven me for that. She will need a patient owner and a very calm home. Crazy dogs running around or young kids being loud and running through the house would terrify her.Amelia is not a hider. When we have company over, she does come out watch what's going on. If I have a friend over to watch movies, Amelia may get on her lap, but if we have several friends over for game night, she just watches from a distance. She really just hates the idea of being held or picked up. Nail trims or giving medication will be next to impossible unless she overcomes her fear of being held. I've only trimmed her nails once and it required getting her to eat a sedative in a treat, waiting for her to go into a dog crate for food and locking her in there. I then called a friend to come over and it took about 5 minutes to be able to catch her with a towel, even though she was crated. My friend then had to hold her down on the sofa, while I searched for her paws inside the towel so I could do her nails. It was quite a process and not something I look forward to doing again.Amelia's best friend is another kitten that's been here for a few months while being treated for an eye issue. She chases and wrestles with the kitten many times during the day. She gets along with everyone from my younger cats to my seniors and is fine with our mellow dogs. I do not adopt my kittens out as an only cat. If you are interested, please email Beagmom1@yahoo.com. Thank you. **All Shelter to Home animals are fully vetted per their age. We believe in pediatric spay and neuter. All animals will be spayed or neutered, tested for FIV/FeLV or heartworm, given age-appropriate boosters and rabies, dewormed, flea treated, and anything extra that is needed to give this animal a wonderful forever life in a permanent home. Adoption fees are usually $50 for cats and between $150-$250 for dogs, unless the pet is sponsored or we are running a promotion. Story
Templeton and his brother were taken from an especially rough hoarding situation. Police intervened and all animals were extracted. It took a while for Templeton to overcome his fear of being hurt, but he did it! And is he ever a silly boy! He would thrive in a home with another mild mannered cat, and currently lives with calm dogs. If you want to know more about this cat, email us here: wacvolunteers@gmail.com! * AGE: 2 years old * TEMPERAMENT: Lap cat, would be ok as a solitary or with another mild cat * Why are they at the shelter? Rescued by police * Any Health issues? None known but can be nervous in hectic surroundings * How are they with other cats? Dogs? Good but needs to be with gentle animals * Volunteer Comments? " Templeton is such a brave cat!" "He loves brushing and attention." Thank you for your interest in adopting a shelter cat! NOW HOW DO I MEET OR ADOPT THIS CAT? !. Story
Kai's story is somewhat of a sad one. It's the kind of story that often leaves us scratching our heads, but we don't have time to dwell on what went wrong with Kai's situation. We focus on finding her a better one. We know that there is someone out there who won't think twice about giving this wonderful girl everything she needs. Kai is about 10 years old, she requires blood pressure medication and special food for her kidneys. And, she is blind. Kai is a great lap cat, great with other cats, and even plays with some toys. Her vision problem doesn't seem to bother her at all. All she needs is a home where there's easy access to her food, water, and litterboxes. She shouldn't have to jump on things or do stairs in order to find what she needs. She hasn't been with dogs in her foster home, so we don't know how she is with them. It should be noted that most people with cats and dogs keep the cat items somewhere that the dog can't get to them. It is important that Kai have easy access to those things so it may not work out to put her in a home with dogs, but we would certainly be willing to discuss it with a potential family to see if it could work. Kai's blood pressure medication, Amoldipine, is about $12 for 60 days. Her prescription kidney food, of course, can be pricey, but we know Kai is worth it. This poor girl, who was given up by her owners when her age started catching up with her, deserves to be given everything she needs. If you'd like to meet Kai, or just have some questions about her, please let us know. We'd love to talk to you about her. **All Shelter to Home animals are fully vetted per their age. Story
Birthdate Feb 14th,2015 What Valentine needs. A home with no other pets or young kids. A home that will understand her opinion. A home that will love her forever A quiet less busy house What Valentine currently has A foster home with other cats and large dogs A foster home with a young child A foster home that understands her opinions Valentine loves to nap on the foot of my recliner, on the back of my recliner and a spot on my bed where she won't be disturbed. She likes to get pets but not so much that puts her on edge. She allows me to trim her toe nails, wipe her eyes once in a while and she likes to be brushed. She doesn't love going to the vet so she needs a little something to help her stay calm. She loves me and my husband just not the rest of the hustle and bustle of the house, I had foster kittens and she was ok with them but the other adults seem to be her biggest issue. She is not a hider, she is social. When agitated she has swiped and occasionally used her teeth. I don't think she means to hurt as she has tried to bite me when I have pushed her so I could get a feel for her. She puts her teeth on you but doesn't really bite to injure. If you pull away you may get a scratch. I keep her nails trimmed so swipes don't have the opportunity to scratch. But in a calm less intimidating home I don't feel like this would be an issue. **All Shelter to Home animals are fully vetted per their age. We believe in pediatric spay and neuter.
