Story
Introducing Stitch! This handsome boy came to AFRP after he was brought to a local animal hospital for help with a prolapsed rectum. Now, fully recovered he's seeking out his furever home! While he's a looker, Stitch is quite a special boy who requires very specific adopters! Stitch is quite a goofy pup, and with that comes a few quirks; he is dog reactive and although he is working through it with positive training he would do best in a home with a fenced-in yard at this time as well as with potential adopters who have experience with reactive pups. Stitch is also obsessed with being the center of attention and it shows! This means no other animals can be in the home, he wants to be the only pup in your heart! He's a bundle of fun and loves to play with his toys, especially any kind of ball. Stitch is looking for an adopter who has experience with brachycephalic breeds (flat-faced dogs) and understands their continued needs, and possible added medical care. These adorable pups can be a bit more costly! Stitch comes with pre-registration for one-on-one classes to help with his exposure to other dogs and general basic obedience. He will also do best in an adult-only household. Due to these requirements, Stitch may only be adopted to applicants living in Monterey County or surrounding areas (Santa Cruz, etc.). He is currently in foster care. Meet and greets can be scheduled once your online application has been received and approved. Visit www.animalfriendsrescue.org for an online application.

Story
Looks like: French Bulldog Female, 7 years old, 23 pounds Lovebug lives up to her namesake! She is truly a lovebug ready to share her love and snuggles with her next person. This sweet girl loves her people, including children, and seeks out pets from everyone she can. Lovebug can be overstimulated by the presence of other dogs, and around food and toys. Lovebug adores her people so much that she seems to prefer not to share them. She would thrive as the center of attention in a single dog household where she would not need to share her precious toys but we think with the right doggie companion and a diligent adopter, she may be able to safely share her space with another pup. She LOVES chasing toys and balls (and a kitty if they run by) so will do best with an active family who will help her enjoy all the fun things in life! Lovebug has a strong pull on leash so she is searching for a strong leash handler for her beloved walks. This little lady has been to see our eye specialist who says that she will need to receive eye meds in her left eye to keep her comfortable for all of her days. Lovebug came to POMDR because her guardian could no longer care for her.

Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $600   Jenga is a 3 year old French Bulldog who we rescued from the local shelter. A cold kennel is no place for such a handsome guy like Jenga! This dude is all the best parts of the Frenchie breed. Those who know and love Frenchies should look no further than Jenga. We will be prioritizing homes who have experience with this type of breed and are aware of their health concerns. Jenga has seen an eye specialist and is “mostly blind” in both eyes. To be honest, he’s so confident that it took us a few months to notice he couldn’t see too well, which says a lot about him! He doesn’t let a little thing like vision stop him from living his best life.    Below is a note from Jenga’s foster.  “Jenga is a very sweet dog who would love nothing more than to curl up on your lap and snuggle the day away. He sometimes gets the absolute funniest zoomies when he needs to get bursts of energy out, but he is a total couch potato. Unlike any other dog I have ever fostered, Jenga seems to know when screens are in front of him and loves to show off for attention on Zoom calls, which is a truly amazing skill for a dog who can’t see very well. When the camera calls, it calls!  He is just such a character.  Jenga wakes up around 8 AM and goes for a morning walk about half an hour later. He gets breakfast at 9 AM. When I work from home. he loves to cuddle next to me on the couch or take naps on the floor nearby. He gets another walk at around 6:30 PM and then gets his dinner. He goes to bed with me around 11:30 PM.  Jenga walks very well on the leash. He loves to sniff all the good smells out there and show off his amazing looks to his adoring public. Due to his vision issues, Jenga would do best as a solo dog in his forever home, as he startles easily when he is surprised. This distinguished gentleman is looking for his throne and we promised we’d deliver him one!   Jenga is only an option for those who have prior dog experience, with priority given to those who understand the Frenchie breed. Kids in the home should be over the age of 7. April 26, 2024, 2:38 am

Story
Snoopy is part of Charlie Brown Litter. Holly mom is French Bull Dog /Boston Terrier mix. 2/16/24 DNA test results: Dad was a Cattle Dog 40% and 9% Border Collie. They should be medium size adults and smart. Holly was abandoned at a distant shelter and was very pregnant. Snoopy's DOB: 12/1/23. Once we rescued Holly and she arrived at her foster home within 2 hours she went into labor and gave birth to 5 puppies. 2 girls and 3 boys. Whew! Just in time. All the pups and mom did great at their foster home. Home raised healthy lovable and social. The 5 pups are now learning at their next foster home for puppy training. All are playful snuggly and lovable. We do not know what they are mixed with. They seem larger than Frenchie pups and have tails. We will start to review applications Jan 20th. Puppies will be 8 weeks old on Jan. 27th and will get their first vaccinations and deworm. Need home with attached backyard. More info. to come on each puppy's personality. As the pups grow they need more one on one training. If not adopted by 1/27/24 each puppy need foster homes to continue their training and socialization. 1/24/24 Update: The 3 boys are fairly similar all playful and slower than the girls. Linus and Snoopy are a little more timid but get more playful when riled up by Brody. All love attention and to be held. They all did very well getting their first shots and these puppies are extremely smart and well behaved for such young puppies. They are learning sit and not to bite and are all doing very very well. They will make wonderful family pets for someone. Their temperament is fantastic gentle playful and sweet. Almost there on house-training. They love to go out to backyard to play and potty biz. 2/9/24 Update 10 weeks old: Patty is definitely the smallest and smallest paws. Snoopy and Linus are about the same size 12 pounds and Patty is 10 lbs.. I think they will be medium sized dogs. Snoopy and Linus are slower and calmer. Patty is spunky and more independent and curious and a little more Frenchie personality . All are learning crate training with less accidents on pee pads and they go out to backyard for potty biz. 3/15/24 Need foster home for one on one puppy training and socials.April 24, 2024, 1:05 am

Story
French Fry is a bit of a diva; she likes to be the center of attention and claim her person for herself! When in a calm household, she is a good girl and a nice companion. She sleeps well in a crate or a dog bed and is completely housebroken. French Fry loves to chew, so she'll be thrilled if her new family has plenty of yummy snacks on hand for her. She has puppy energy and loves to follow her person everywhere they go, before flopping down next to them to relax. She weighs 22.8 pounds and is estimated to be between 1 and 4 years old.French Fry was diagnosed with intervertebral disc disease at T12-13 and possibly 11-12 and L1-2. This is a condition where disk material presses against the ligament and the spinal cord. Symptoms can include back pain, ataxia and paraplegia. She is currently on an anti inflammatory and gabapentin which are controlling her symptoms well. She will need to be on these medications ongoing. There is a possibility that symptoms can worsen and surgery may need to be pursued.Have you fallen in love? Ready to adopt?
