Story
Boon is 10 months old and roughly 80 pounds. He is great with kids from baby’s to big kids. However he is not very fond of cats and he can give a rabbit a run for his money. He is house trained and crate trained. Unfortunately he has not spent much time on a leash so he will need some training. He is good with common commands (sit, leave it, down, come) but is young and can get distracted. Unfortunately at this time we are struggling to provide the care and attention he deserves due to unforeseen circumstances.

Story
Look at this BEAUTIFUL girl!! Meet Laina! Laina is an extremely sweet and playful German Shepherd who arrived to us as a stray and was not reclaimed. She is approximately 10 months old or so. Laina is great with all people, and we think she will do fine with dogs but can be a LOT for other dogs at times so will need the right match. Laina appears housetrained and keeps her kennel clean here and she is extremely intelligent. She would do best in a home with Shepherd experience. She knows some basic commands like sit and is willing to learn more! Her adoption fee is $150 and she is now spayed, microchipped, vaccinated and is heartworm negative. If you are interested in adopting, stop by the shelter to meet her or call/email with questions: 630-553-9256 or animalcontrol@Kendallcountyil.gov. If you would like to place a 24 hour hold, you can do so by completing and submitted our online application via email. Story
Meet Boomer, a one year old Shepherd/Pittie mix with the cutest antenna ears you’ve ever seen and the softest brown eyes to match. This handsome boy came to us as a stray, and we were certain someone would be rushing through our doors to claim him. He was clean, already neutered, and clearly someone’s dog at some point — but sadly, he had no identification or microchip and was never reclaimed. Now Boomer is ready for a fresh start and a forever home that won’t let him go. Boomer does fantastic with other dogs and absolutely loves to play. Whether he’s romping around the yard or engaging in a good play session with a canine friend, he’s happiest when he’s having fun. He has that perfect balance of playful energy and sweet affection, and those expressive ears somehow make every moment even cuter. At just a year old, Boomer is still young and eager to learn. With continued structure, exercise, and love, he’s going to make an incredibly loyal and devoted companion. If you’re looking for a playful best friend with standout ears and a heart of gold, Boomer might just be your guy. His adoption fee is $200, which includes his vaccines, fecal exam, deworming, current heartworm/flea prevention, heartworm test, registered microchip, and neuter. He is already fixed! Call our office for adoption details at 815-725-0333. Located in Joliet, IL

Story
Meet Barrett, a handsome 5-year-old German Shepherd weighing in at 82 lbs. This loyal boy is fully housebroken and ready to find his forever family. Barrett is the perfect mix of energetic and affectionate—he loves going for walks and spending time outdoors, especially in a securely fenced yard where he can explore and play to his heart’s content. He gets along well with cats and has done fine with other dogs. Because he can sometimes be a little mouthy when excited, Barrett would do best in a home without small children. He’ll thrive with an experienced owner who enjoys staying active and can provide structure, companionship, and lots of love. If you’re looking for a loyal adventure buddy who will also be your best friend, Barrett is your guy! The adoption fee of $350 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. Story
Luffy is a 31lbs, 1 year old, neutered, German Shepherd mix. Luffy was in a kennel all day and night long. He quickly found his feet and learned to walk up and down stairs and was overjoyed when he discovered what toys are. He did excellent in the bath and enjoyed a good teeth brush. He likes giving kisses and following you around with a toy wherever you go. He is house trained but much prefers you to be outside with him. I am sure he is nervous that we will leave him as he is not used to his new life of freedom. He does like to eat hangers when we are not at home. We bought some hard bones and that cured him of his hanger obsession. He is still learning that his foster family is not going anywhere at night and he does cry for a bit when in his crate. It doesn’t last long and he quietly sleeps through the night. When he hears us coming down the stairs, we can hear that tail going crazy in anticipation of seeing my five-year old. He is also so gentle and sweet with her. When a friend brought her dog over, Luffy was in heaven to have a friend his size to play with. He is full of energy and would do well with an active family with kids (age 8+).   If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application  .
