Charcoal came to Country Acres Rescue along with her Mama and 5-littermates from a rural farm who were keeping them cooped up in a beat-up wooden crate outside. A few weeks ago, the owner of the farm dumped these pups in the woods and threatened to shoot each and every one of them if not picked up by a Rescue or Animal Control. Country Acres heard their story and even though we were beyond full capacity, we could not say "No". Charcoal loves to PLAY now that she feels safe. Coco is an incredibly sweet dog. With two toddlers another on the way and three dogs we simply don't have the time for her energy. Our older female shepherd does not like having her around either. Coco does great with our male shepherd and they are awesome playmates. I have high hopes that with proper introduction she would do well with other dogs. She is very reactive at first but this is mostly defensiveness. We rescued her from a shelter when she was 4 months old and she had very low confidence. She is doing better and even had professional puppy training for a few months. We don't allow her on the furniture, but if you do she is as snuggly as they come. Coco does really well with kids, even older toddlers but has shown some nervous behaviors around babies and very young toddlers who have no limits. Coco needs lots of space to run around or frequent, intense exercise. She loves to chase bugs and her favorite toys. We had a DNA test done and she is 50% GSD w/ a mix of collie

You see, I was found on the side of the road barely alive after being hit by a car. I couldn't walk very well because my pelvis was broken in three places. But after visiting this place called the veterinarian, I started feeling much better. It's going to take someone very special and patient to earn my trust. But once you earn it, I'm the sweetest and most gentle dog ever. I love love love chest rubs and ear scratches. It's a tale they hear all the time. I don't want the dog, or life's changed and we can't take the dog anymore... but I was dumped at a park for weeks before someone noticed that I was "living there. A kind person took me in and I have been in foster care ever since. Waiting for my turn when someone will say that's the girl for me! I am kind and love my person very much. So much in fact that I would prefer a home that is just me and my people. Speaking of people. When it comes to kids I am not the biggest fan. The perfect home would be one that has grown children and they are looking for a new partner to love on. I am an extreme couch potato and one of my most favorite activities would be to lay on the couch under a nice blanket and just be. You see I am starting to show the early signs of arthritis.
