Story
Billy is a wiley, spunky, affectionate 1.5 year old fluffy German Shepherd mix who loves playing and cuddling! This boy has lots of energy and is very intelligent! Billy weighs about 55lbs and is not expected to get bigger. Billy was picked up as a stray by animal control and taken to our local high kill shelter where he eventually landed on the euthanasia list due to lack of space. At the shelter, Bill was a terrified, anxious boy who was hesitant to trust any humans (understandably). Once we pulled him and got him home, though, he completely transformed! He is a belly-in-the-air type of guy, as you can see, and he is gaining confidence every day! Billy is now a happy, carefree dude just looking for his next adventure! Billy instantly loves every person and dog he meets. He has never met a stranger and is always up for making a new friend! He loves running around the yard and playing with toys and other dogs, but when it's time to come inside he's content to cuddle up next to you for comfort and warmth! Billy is pretty equally human and dog centered and is very loyal to both. Once he meets his lifelong partner, there's no looking back for Billy! Likely having had no prior training before coming to us, Billy sometimes does not know his own size and strength so he can be a bit rambunctious at times, especially when first being let outside when you come home. He will need some work learning manners, but he seems to pick up on correct behaviors if he sees other dogs doing them first. That being said, he would love to have a doggy sibling to show him the ropes and keep him in line in his new home! He seems to thrive off of having another pup around who can match his unfiltered energy, so a dog with a similar personality and energy level to him is preferred. Billy is crate and potty trained, good with dogs and people of all kinds, and walks fairly well on a leash. Billy is located in Houston TX but can be transported to most US states for adoption.

Story
Sweet 1-Year-Old German Shepherd “Valley” Needs a Home This sweet girl wandered up to the community where I work in Valley Ranch, which is how she got her name, Valley. She’s just over a year old, very loving, and full of energy. I live in Magnolia and work long hours, so I’m not home enough to give her the attention she needs. I also live in an apartment, and Valley would do much better in a home with a backyard. She’s been great with my 6-year-old daughter, my small dog, and our cat. She’s gentle, affectionate, and just wants love and attention. She will be spayed and vaccinated on November 26, which will make rehoming easier. I can’t keep her much longer and want to find her a caring, committed home. If you or someone you know is interested in giving Valley the loving home she deserves, please reach out.

Story
Hi, I’m Einstein! I’m almost 5 months old, and my foster mom says I’m the smartest puppy she’s ever fostered—pretty cool, right? I’ve come a long way in a short time. While bonding with my foster family has been a bit of a journey, I’m really starting to trust and open up. I’ve already mastered potty training and kennel training, and I’ve got our daily routine down like a pro. I adore my foster dog siblings! I was a little unsure at first, but it didn’t take long for me to feel right at home. I even get along great with the cats here! I love lounging on the couch, and mealtime might just be my favorite part of the day. I’ve got lots of chew toys, but be warned—if you leave your shoes out, I’ll probably parade around with one like it’s my prize. I’d really thrive in a home with other pets to play with. I haven’t had much leash training yet, but my foster mom is going to help me learn soon. I may have had a tough start in life, but I’m ready for my happy ending. If you give me a chance, I’ll show you just how loving, loyal, and smart I really am. Apply to adopt me at bigloverescue.org

Story
Meet Murphy! I’m a happy, goofy 5-month-old pup who keeps my foster mom laughing every day! As I’ve settled into my foster home, I’ve really come out of my shell—and now I greet my foster mom at the door with a wildly wagging tail and tons of love. I adore having other pets around and would be happiest in a home with a furry friend or two. I live with both dogs and cats right now—at first I wasn’t sure about them, but they quickly became my best buddies and role models. I’m already potty trained, kennel trained, and totally thriving on a daily routine. I love doing zoomies in the backyard and chasing my foster siblings. I’m not leash trained yet, and I might grab the remote if it’s left out, but hey—I’m still a puppy and a fast learner! I’ve got so much love to give and just need a chance to show you what an amazing companion I can be. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply at bigloverescue.org

Story
Meet Autumn Autumn’s story is a heartbreaking one. She and her brother were dumped as tiny puppies in Hockley and left to survive on their own. They made a home in a cornfield, sadly her brother didn’t make it, and Autumn herself was even shot. With little human kindness shown to her, Autumn grew up feral, wary of people, and surviving the only way she knew how. But Autumn is a fighter. After being rescued, she has blossomed into a beautiful girl who is slowly learning that not all humans are bad. With a year of love, patience, and stability, she has gone from hiding in her crate to choosing to relax in the same room with her foster—a huge victory for this once-forgotten pup. About Autumn Age: ~2.5 years old Weight: ~50 lbs Breed Guess: German Shepherd mix Training: Crate and potty trained Autumn absolutely adores other dogs and needs a confident canine companion in her new home. She loves to initiate play and also enjoys a good cuddle session with her dog friends. Toys are her treasure—she keeps a rotating “collection” of favorite bones and plush toys in her crate, proudly switching them out. She’ll happily toss a ball for herself, chase butterflies, or just chew on a favorite toy. Autumn is still learning how to trust people fully. Some days, she needs gentle encouragement to push past her comfort zone. But she has never once shown aggression, her body language is soft, her spirit is kind, and her willingness to learn makes her a joy to work with. With time, patience, and consistency, Autumn is ready to keep growing in a forever home of her own. She will thrive with: A confident, dog-friendly companion A calm, patient family A safe space where she can continue her journey from survivor to beloved family dog Autumn has already overcome so much. Now she’s ready for her next chapter, could it be with you? Autumn is available locally for a foster to adopt situation as she is still a work in progress and we are here to support her journey.
