Story
Male, ~2 years old, ~64 lbs. Approximate Age: ~2 years old   Approximate Weight/Size:   64# - large    Good with: Dogs   Not tested with: Cats, Kids   Hi, I'm Homer! I'm one of the sweetest dogs in the world. I'll do anything to get your attention! I'll happy curl up next to you or lean into you asking for pets: I'm a huge cuddle bug despite my size. I'm very smart and eager to learn: I am easily redirected.   At the same time, I'm goofy and playful. I love both long and short walks, as well as going hiking with my humans. I get along great with other dogs and currently live with another pup.   I'm currently working on my leash pulling and sometimes I can get a little mouthy, but I'm learning with my foster parents how to be a good dog. I'm also working on my housetraining, although I only have the occasional accident.      I can't wait to find a forever home where I can share all the love I've got to give!   Adoption Application: http://bit.ly/adoptrd r My adoption fee includes: Spay/Neuter Surgery (unless I'm too to young!) Overall wellness exam Current on all core vaccines (including DHPP & rabies) Microchip Current on flea & tick and heartworm preventatives   Interested in adopting a rescue dog? Male, 4 years old, 60lbs Approximate Age: ~4 years old   Approximate Weight/Size:    Large   Good with: Dogs   Not tested with: Cats, Kids   Hi, I'm Kevin! I have an awesome personality and I'm very well behaved. I love going for walks and getting to explore, but I'm also easy to please with just some treats and snuggles on the couch. I'm very affectionate and I'm a social butterfly, both with people and other dogs. I'm treat motivated, which is perfect for learning more commands and tricks. I also know "sit" and I'm great on a leash. The nice folks at RDR will update my profile when they learn more about me.   I can't wait to find a forever home where I can share all the love I've got to give!   Adoption Application: http://bit.ly/adoptrd r My adoption fee includes: Spay/Neuter Surgery (unless I'm too to young!) Story
Please contact June Song (JuneS@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.sweet shepherd ISO fresh start and love! RACHAEL NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:  Rachael       Best Guess for Breed:  German Shepherd mix   Best Guess for Age:  5 years as of August 2023       SEX:  Female   Approximate Weight:   67 lbs   Gets Along With:   Other dogs! We haven't seen her with kids or cats but she can be tested   Currently Living at:   DC area foster home.   Special adoption considerations: Rachael is a truly Lucky Dog. Although she has tested positive for heartworms, but has already been treated! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment.  We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the screening process.    Rachael is Looking For:  Her forever family! German shepherds are known for their strong attachments to their humans, and Rachael wants nothing more to know who her people are. She's out of the puppy yips and is ready to accompany her family on long sniffy walks and all the adventures they can dream up. Trips to the mountains - hanging out in the park and people watching - Starbucks stops for pup cups - she's there with you for it all! She's also super smart and is eager to participate in training and other mental enrichment activities.  She is stocking up on adoring gazes and tail wags for her new humans, and promises loyal companionship for all her days. What do you say? Is Rachael the companion you have been seeking?   What My Foster Says About Me: Rachael is an absolute sweetheart! She was unsure of certain things like getting into the car, flooring, and stairs but has overcome quickly her uncertainty with some coaxing.  She is indeed the green dog and doesn't know much with how to be in the house, walking on leash, or any commands but is a very quick learner! She may not be in her younger years but learning never stops and the shepherd in her is definitely up for it! She does well with dogs, mostly just interested in saying hi, and moves right along. Currently, she is living with a young child and Rachael is great with her! We also have cat(s) in the home, and she was quite stimulated initially(not sure if she has ever met one) but is learning to be calm around them and doing well! Rachael is a gem of a pup and would make a great addition to any home!   Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:    The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. Story
Female, approx. 1 year old, 52 lbs Personality: Playful, goofy/funny, affectionate, smart, independent, rambunctious, snuggler, protective, loyal, eager-to-please, trustworthy, adventurous, and energetic. Kiara is a smart, energetic goofball who is the life of the party! Kiara loves to stay busy by going for walks any time of the day, entertaining herself with a food puzzle, frolicking with her people, playing tug and chasing after tennis balls -- right next to (or on top of) her humans! She loves other dogs and would do great with a yard to get her zoomies out throughout the day. Whenever she comes across something particularly exciting to sniff, Kiara will hop to show her enthusiasm! After walks, Kiara is more than happy to amuse herself by lounging on her bed and curling up with a toy. When she's not playing, you can probably find Kiara right by her people, cuddling or asking for belly scratches. For Kiara, being right in the middle of everything is right where she wants to be; she will happily follow you around as you cook or do chores. Ultimately, she wants to be your sweet, fuzzy shadow and hang out with you 24/7! Smart as a whip, Kiara is quick to learn new skills and words and has already mastered a handful (including sit, stay, and down) and has adjusted marvelously to her crate! She even knows to sit and wait before going outside. On top of this amazing training, Kiara is housebroken and can be trusted to be uncrated when her humans aren't home as she doesn't destroy her humans' things. This brave girl isn't scared of the big noises, unbothered and just continuing to chew on her toys. She's working on her excited bark and learning ways to show you how happy she is to see you. Her sweet expressive ears, deep eyes, and gorgeous coloring are just extra perks that come with this precious and loyal gal. Kiara is a one-of-a-kind pup who is looking for a best friend for life - apply today to meet her! __________________________________________________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. Learn more, see our list of dogs needing foster, and apply, https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/foster-a-city-dog.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained. We also update our Facebook page daily with new cats and dogs.

Story
Active Axel is a handsome golden male German Shepherd/ Great Pyrenees mix who was born on February 11th, 2023 and is still a puppy in every way. He is one of six siblings that survived from a litter of 12. Our guy Axel weighs approximately 90 lbs, and is very GSD smart loving to be next to his humans.  This huge puppy is full of energy and he will fit perfectly in a home where there is a lot of activity, a fenced yard and people who love the BIG DOGS! He really likes walking, hiking, and just a ton of fun with activity. He also loves water and treats the water trough as his own personal spa. We recommend a home with a fence that is a minimum of 5 feet tall.   We do not suggest he go to a home with small children, or farm animals simply because he has no experience with them.  He hangs with his siblings and does well playing with them and also just enjoying their company.  He does need to eat separately for dinner as he protects his food from the other dogs due to early starvation. Handsome Axel is fully vetted, neutered and microchipped and he is kennel and crate trained for quiet time.  This boy needs some time and attention from a caring and dog savvy owner.  He would love to cuddle with you and be your adored companion.  He has such potential…..such love and such a need to grow and evolve into a fine companion in life.  Please email us at ccrtennessee@gmail.com if you are interested in this big baby!  PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comNovember 30, 2023, 12:09 pm
