Story
Bean started off as a dog on the streets of Stockton, then she was dumped in a park with her 7 siblings in Tracy. She was adopted by a family who did not give her enough time to acclimate and thats how I got her. She needs a hero. Someone who understands the 3-3-3 rule and will give her a full 3 months to get comfortable in a new home. The best parts: She LOVES playing with other dogs. She is about 80% house trained. She sleeps quietly in a kennel all night. She is kitty curious but not agressive. She walks well on leash. She has the cutest, playful personality once she let's her guard down. The parts that need patience: She barks at all men she meets and some women. She doesn't let you touch her immediately. She will take time to build a relationship. She tolerates but does not love car rides. She has the spunkiest, happy, puppy personality once she feels comfortable. She would to well with a confident dog to show her the ropes. She is already learning so much from my 3 dogs.

Story
Bandit Bandit is a soft-hearted pup with a gentle soul. He loves to snuggle and would happily choose cozy indoor time over running laps any day. He’s very sensitive and will let you know if he gets a tiny “ouchie,” which only adds to his charm. Bandit is incredibly sweet, tender, and affectionate — the kind of dog who melts into you and makes you feel needed. Bandit is doing great with house manners. He is potty trained, knows how to use a doggie door, and has started learning basic commands like sit and stay. He is around cattle and chickens on a daily basis and has had some exposure to a cat, giving him valuable experience with other animals. He is amazing with kids and enjoys going in the car.  ##2656094##

Story
Meet GeraldGerald is a 9-year-old, 65-pound German Shorthaired Pointer with a goofy streak and a big love for people. He’s the kind of dog who makes you smile—especially when he’s trotting around with a stuffed animal or eagerly dropping a ball at your feet for one more throw. Gerald has settled into his foster home well. The first few days were a bit overwhelming for him and he was understandably cautious, but he’s quickly found his footing and is showing his easygoing, affectionate personality. He loves attention, especially chin rubs, and is happiest when he’s included in whatever you’re doing. Despite being a senior, Gerald still enjoys staying active. He gets a daily walk and loves playing chase and fetch—seriously, fetch is a favorite. He brings the ball back, lets you take it, and is ready to go again until your arm gives out. He could benefit from a bit more structured exercise, which will help keep both his body and mind happy. In the house, Gerald is doing well with his manners. He’s house-training nicely and he lets his people know when he needs to go outside. He stays inside the home when left alone and is currently comfortable being on his own for up to four hours. He’s still adjusting to spending time alone, and continues to improve. Gerald knows how to sit and is learning “stay.” On leash, he’s a tall, strong boy and is working on reducing pulling—he’s already making progress. One thing to know about Gerald is that he is very food motivated and can be a bit obsessed with food. In his foster home, he has shown some treat guarding around the resident female dog, which may be related to past hunger or uncertainty. Because of this, he would do best as a solo dog or with a well-matched canine companion and an experienced owner who can manage feeding and treat time thoughtfully. Gerald loves people of all ages and has done well with children ranging from 9 and 11 years old to teenagers. He’s friendly meeting other dogs and likes to say hello. He is not a fit for a home with cats. Gerald would thrive in a home that appreciates a slightly goofy, affectionate GSP who still enjoys playtime but also knows how to relax and enjoy the comforts of home and humans. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who loves fetch, people, and being part of the family, Gerald may be your guy. Our adoption process begins with our adoption questionnaire: https://norcalgsprescue.org/adoption-questionnaire/ (Please note that we adopt primarily within Northern California and our minimum age for kids is 6) If you'd like to see what Gerald's been up to, check out his posting in the Available Foster Dogs section: https://norcalgsprescue.org/available-dogs/. That's where you'll find all the latest info about all of our available dogs. Story
Meet Merlin. He’s a bold and big-hearted senior who’s ready to barrel into your life with all the enthusiasm of a dog half his age. Personality and Temperament: Merlin has presence. He’s not a wallflower—he’s a personality. Despite having zero formal training when he came into rescue, he picked up house routines quickly and figured out a tricky set of hardwood stairs entirely on his own. He’s smart, he’s social, and once he decides you’re his person, you’ll feel it. Daily Life & Good Stuff: Merlin is still very much an active dog. He tears around the yard on enthusiastic sniff patrol, loves a good car ride, and is always up for more adventure. He’s food-motivated and a quick study when it comes to new routines. Give him a yak chew and a yard to explore, and he is one happy dog. He sleeps and eats in his crate comfortably and has adapted well to home life. Other Dogs and Animals: Merlin has been a great housemate to his foster siblings and gets excited when it’s time to head outside together. He approaches other dogs calmly and has been easy to integrate into a multi-dog home. Training & Skills: Merlin came to rescue with no prior training and didn’t even know his name, but don’t let that discourage you because he learns fast. He does best with structure and supervision indoors to help with housetraining, and since he’s deaf, visual cues and a tap for attention are his love language. The Ideal Home for Merlin: Merlin would thrive with a somewhat active family who will laugh at his goofy personality, has a well-fenced yard, and can give him the companionship and movement he still very much craves. Older? Sure. Slowing down? Absolutely not. Merlin is a strong, goofy, loving dog who has so much left to give—he just needs the right family to give it to. If you’re looking for a dog with gusto, personality, and a heart as big as his enthusiasm for life, Merlin is your guy. Our adoption process begins with our adoption questionnaire: https://norcalgsprescue.org/adoption-questionnaire/ (Please note that we adopt primarily within Northern California and our minimum age for kids is 6) If you'd like to see what Merlin’s been up to, check out his posting in the Available Foster Dogs section: https://norcalgsprescue.org/available-dogs/. That's where you'll find all the latest info about all of our available dogs. Story
Meet Riff—also known as “Woody”—a handsome, 3-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer with a big heart, a playful spirit, and the sweetest, most affectionate nature you could ask for! Weighing in at 68 pounds, Riff is everything people adore about the GSP breed: energetic, affectionate, and happiest when he’s with his people. He’s a classic “velcro dog” who will gladly stick by your side whether you’re heading out for an adventure or just relaxing at home. And yes—he’s already mastered one very important skill: looking absolutely adorable at all times! He’s kind, loving, and incredibly people-oriented—he adores everyone he meets, from adults to kids, and has even been gentle and respectful with a young toddler. He’s especially fond of his people and lives for cuddle time just as much as he enjoys playtime. If you’re looking for a dog who will be both your adventure buddy and your snuggle companion, Riff is your guy. Riff is also wonderfully social with other dogs. He’s lived harmoniously with multiple dogs of different ages and genders and happily welcomed even more visiting pups into the mix. He would truly thrive in a home with another friendly dog to play with and keep him company. This smart boy is a fast learner who genuinely wants to please. He’s already house-trained (about 98% and doing great!) and picked it up in just about a week—pretty impressive! He knows “sit” and “leave it,” and is making great progress on “down” and “off.” Like many young, energetic dogs, he’s still working on his manners—he can get excited and jump up to say hello—and he’s eager to learn and improves quickly with consistency and positive reinforcement. Riff does have a few things he’ll need help with in his new home. He’s very strong on leash and doesn’t yet have polished leash manners, so continued training will be important. He also isn’t a fan of the crate and can be resistant to going in, though he settles nicely when left loose in a safe space for short periods. He’s generally calm when left alone and will happily nap on the bed. As a typical GSP, Riff has an active side! He benefits from daily exercise and thrives with a mix of play and activity—think fetch, yard zoomies, and squirrel-chasing sessions. He currently enjoys 1–2 hours of active play each day (broken into shorter sessions), plus additional yard time. Without enough activity, he may entertain himself by chewing on soft, fuzzy items—so keeping him engaged is key. Riff is looking for a home with: A large, securely fenced yardAnother playful dog companionAn active family committed to ongoing training and exerciseRiff is truly a special dog—affectionate, gentle, social, and eager to bond. His foster describes him as one of the easiest dogs they’ve ever had and can’t understand why he hasn’t been scooped up yet. Everyone who meets him falls in love. If you have the space, a canine companion, and the willingness to continue his training, Riff will reward you with endless loyalty, love, and companionship. He’s ready to make someone incredibly happy—could that someone be you?
