Story
Meet Rowan – 9 months old Rowan is a happy, people-loving young dog who fits right into a busy household. From day one in his foster home, he blended seamlessly into the routine, getting along beautifully with both a playful one-year-old dog and a laid-back ten-year-old. He loves his people, adores kids (preteens and teens included), and is the kind of dog who wants to be wherever you are—preferably close enough for a little lap time or a nap by your side. Personality & TemperamentRowan is playful, goofy, and good-natured. He shares toys well, plays rough-and-tumble outside, and then settles nicely indoors when it’s time to rest. He can be adorably uncoordinated—sliding across floors or tumbling off the couch—adding to his charm. He’s confident, curious, and fearless in a young-dog way (including a calm response to an unexpected swim in the pool). He’s active without being hyper and doesn’t demand constant attention, but he does enjoy sticking close to his human. Training & MannersRowan is off to a great start. He’s house-trained and reliably pees and poops on cue when let out. He sleeps through the night without issue. He eats his meals in his crate and goes in willingly, settling after a brief protest if crated at other times. He’s learning calm exits from the crate and responds well to structure. He knows sit, drop, load, and up (front paws up on objects or hopping onto low walls), and he’s currently working on heel, back, halt, and wait. Rowan loves climbing and figuring things out, and his foster thinks he’d be a natural at agility or other dog sports. On leash, he’s fairly easy to walk. There’s some light pulling when he’s excited, but it’s easy to redirect and he’s thrilled when the harness comes out. He enjoys daily walks and plenty of play with his dog buddies. Daily LifeRowan gets one to two walks a day (about ¾ mile each), plus frequent backyard zoomies and indoor play. He’s comfortable relaxing when the household is quiet. He rides well in the car, enjoys outings like Home Depot, and wants to greet everyone he meets. When his foster is away briefly, he stays in a kennel or behind a baby gate and does well. Things to KnowRowan can be a bit sneaky around open doors—not trying to escape, just curious—so mindful door management is important. He’s curious about squirrels and will alert bark at noises or in excitement when seeing other dogs on walks. He’s not a fence jumper and respects baby gates, but because he likes climbing on outdoor furniture, yards should be set up thoughtfully. Like many young dogs, he may counter-surf and has chewed a few unattended pens, so tidy counters are recommended. Ideal HomeRowan would thrive in a home with another young or active dog, kids, or a person who’s home much of the day. He loves being part of a pack and would likely get bored alone for long stretches. He has no experience with cats or small dogs. In ShortRowan is a fun, affectionate, confident young dog who plays hard, settles well, and wants to be part of everyday life.
