Story
Fargo is on the hunt for fun and excitement, and his forever home! This under-1-year-old boy is all GSP and ready for almost anything. Fetch? Yep! Run? Here he comes! Play and wrestle with other dogs? Count him in! Swim? His favorite thing to do! Don’t let his joy to play fool you. He’s a smart, loving and easygoing dog. He came to his foster home with little-to-no training and is quickly picking up on all the important cues. He still has much to learn but has proven to easily listen and learn. Fargo enjoys the company of others. He gets along well with his multiple foster dog siblings and would do best in a home with another dog around. His excitement for people means he might jump to say hi, but he’s working on that. His enthusiasm might be too much for little kids. Fargo also has shown signs of separation anxiety, so it is recommended he be in a home where someone is around and can work with him on that. He’s an adaptable dog who we met in a shelter, took him on a long freedom ride across the state, and is already settling in well to his new surroundings, despite only being there for a few weeks. If you’re looking for a smart and sweet young GSP with a kick of energy, add Fargo to your family. He’s excited to meet you! Our adoption process begins with our adoption questionnaire: https://norcalgsprescue.org/adoption-questionnaire/ (Please note that we adopt primarily within Northern California and our minimum age for kids is 6) If you'd like to see what Fargo's been up to, check out his posting in the Available Foster Dogs section: https://norcalgsprescue.org/available-dogs/. That's where you'll find all the latest info about all of our available dogs. Story
This big boy is friendly and full of love. Kev is always happy to see and meet new people, making friends easily. His affection and willingness to listen means he’s by your side (sometimes even leaning or laying on you) whenever given the chance! Kev has the energy you would expect for a 1-year-old GSP, and because of that he not only enjoys exercise but needs it! His energy also means he’s been known to jump or scale a fence. He is active and at times doesn’t realize his size. Once the puppy energy subsides and he’s settled, he’s quiet and gentle. It’s the ideal time to perfect his cues he’s learning like down, stay and shake. Kev is looking for a home that can continue his training and exercise him well. He’s adaptable to new environments and can acclimate well to a regular routine. During his time with the rescue, we have seen him with nervous energy and prescribed medication to help him. He would adore a loving home where he can be around and active with the family. Our adoption process begins with our adoption questionnaire: https://norcalgsprescue.org/adoption-questionnaire/ (Please note that we adopt primarily within Northern California, and our minimum age for kids is 6) If you'd like to see what Kev's been up to, check out his posting in the Available Foster Dogs section: https://norcalgsprescue.org/available-dogs/. That's where you'll find all the latest info about all of our available dogs. Story
Jake is a beautiful, black & white, 50-pound, 1-year-old, neutered male who can happily spend hours checking out the backyard, retrieving a ball, or curling up on a human lap. He truly has a great disposition and good manners! On the plus side, Jake is good with children, adults, dogs, and cats – if they don’t run away. He is crate trained, housetrained, can swim but prefers not to, doesn’t jump fences, knows several cues, including sit, stay, and drop, and is food motivated, making him eager to learn. Jake communicates with sound but only barks when prompted. Even though he loves to run, play, catch, and smell all day long, he wants to chill – preferably on your lap or beside you on the sofa after dusk. On the challenging side, Jake has been known to eat non-food items that put him at risk. Breaking him of this dangerous habit will take a long period of caution and attention combined with a lifestyle of exercise and usefulness. While in foster care, Jake wears a muzzle over his mouth when playing outside and a muzzle when playing inside or crated, but he does not need the muzzle when he is watched carefully. Jake can chew and swallow almost anything, so, unfortunately, toys are out of the question. Jake’s ideal forever home will have enough space in the backyard to get up speed and send a tennis ball flying, time and interest to keep his mind engaged, and some canine companionship to keep him occupied when the humans are gone. He would also do best with someone around most of the day with him. If you can provide Jake with the home he needs and deserves, please apply today! Our adoption process begins with our adoption questionnaire: https://norcalgsprescue.org/adoption-questionnaire/ (Please note that we adopt primarily within Northern California and our minimum age for kids is 6) If you'd like to see what Jake's been up to, check out his posting in the Available Foster Dogs section: https://norcalgsprescue.org/available-dogs/. That's where you'll find all the latest info about all of our available dogs.February 20, 2024, 11:19 am

Story
Raine is a 10-month-old male who will shower you with love! He’s a sweet boy who gets along with his foster siblings (male and female dogs), does well with housetraining when on a good schedule, and likes to play like any young GSP! Raine does well in his crate for a few hours a day and enjoys older children. He wants a home committed to his training – people who have the time, patience, and energy to give him! Raine is ready to shine. If you enjoy training, enrichment, and exercise and are ready to bring out the best in him, Raine is ready to join your home and be your new best friend! Note: Raine has a slightly droopy left eye – it’s a condition called “idiopathic Horner’s Syndrome.” The cause is not known and it will most likely improve by itself over time. Monitoring by a vet is recommended. Our adoption process begins with our adoption questionnaire: https://norcalgsprescue.org/adoption-questionnaire/ (Please note that we adopt primarily within Northern California and our minimum age for kids is 6) If you'd like to see what Raine's been up to, check out his/her posting in the Available Foster Dogs section: https://norcalgsprescue.org/available-dogs/. That's where you'll find all the latest info about all of our available dogs. Story
Good news! Esuda is now available for adoption to homes in the western US and Canada! Interested parties outside Northern California need to be willing to drive to the foster home’s location for an in-person meeting prior to or in conjunction with pick-up. Please note that we do not ship dogs. E-Suda. It means, “My Six”; the one who has my back. Meet Esuda, who lives up to his namesake. Esuda is the type of dog that wants to live a quiet life; just be there at home, hang out with his family, and take care of the property. It is a joy to watch Esuda work the field, nose to the ground. He comes from an AKC-registered bloodline and has the stature and instincts to show for it. Esuda is only 5 years old, strong and robust, but also a bit of an old soul. He is quiet and introspective at home and cherishes the bond he has with his person. Therefore he is looking for a calm household, without a bunch of strangers coming and going; without social pressures. Esuda thoroughly enjoys romping and playing, but only with his family – people he knows and has come to trust. Once you have his trust, Esuda has your back. Esuda likes to hang out at home, so hopefully, you’ll live in an outdoorsy place. The middle of a squirrel sanctuary will be just fine, thank you very much. He loves going out for a morning jaunt, but only if it is in a rural place where he does not need to worry about other dogs. They are just too unpredictable! So, home with his family, keeping watch over the property, and his life is full. Esuda is quiet and settled when in his kennel but he feels more comfortable when not confined. That’s why we appreciate that he can be trusted to roam free in or out of the house when his people are away. He does not counter-surf or chew on people things. He has learned quickly who needs to be barked at (like the lawn guy with that loud blower on his back) and who is OK (the next-door neighbor who has a garden along the property line). Esuda is cautious but curious, and a good communicator. He hopes to find a human companion that will be patient and communicative as well. Then he’ll have your back. Please note that Esuda has been diagnosed with low thyroid function. After a trial period without medication, we saw that he suffered without it. The prescription costs only $13 per month, and he will require the pill twice every day. If you’re that special person who wants to hang out at home with your best buddy, take a look at Esuda. Our adoption process begins with our adoption questionnaire: https://norcalgsprescue.org/adoption-questionnaire/ (Please note that we adopt primarily within Northern California and our minimum age for kids is 6) If you'd like to see what Esuda's been up to, check out his/her posting in the Available Foster Dogs section: https://norcalgsprescue.org/available-dogs/. That's where you'll find all the latest info about all of our available dogs.
