Max is about 5 years old. He is a very sweet and loving dog. He loves everyone, people and dogs included. Max’s favorite activities are going on walks, running in the park, chewing bones, long naps and staring out the window. He is a great, energetic family dog. He hates to be apart from people but can stay alone in his crate for a few hours if needed. Due to a new baby and lay off from job, we are unable to give Max the full care he needs. He would thrive in a home where he is always with someone or can tag along wherever you go. He would also love to have a dog brother or sister to play with.

Meet Reba! Follow Reba's story on Facebook Reba is a fantastic puppy with the perfect mix of playful energy, intelligence, and sweetness. She is potty trained and crate trained, does well in the car, and walks nicely on leash. This smart girl is very connected to her person, treat motivated, and eager to learn, which makes her a joy to train. She already knows several basic commands, including sit, down, come, stay, leave it, and “out” to drop a toy. Reba loves being with other dogs and is currently living with three adult dogs who are helping her learn all the important lessons of being a great canine companion. She enjoys playing with dogs of all ages and sizes, going for walks, playing fetch—and yes, she actually brings the ball back!—and splashing around in the puppy pool. She also lives with cats and, while her interactions with them have been through a catio, she has learned to approach them calmly and shows good potential for living successfully with cats with continued guidance. As playful as Reba can be, she also has a wonderfully thoughtful side. She’ll often sit quietly in the yard or pause during a walk just to watch the world around her, almost like a little old soul taking everything in. Meet Ace! At 10 1/2 years young and 65 pounds, Ace is proof that age is just a number. This handsome boy is sweet, polite, friendly, and already knows how to be a great housemate. He’s fully housetrained, has good manners around the house, and is happiest when he’s spending time with his people. Ace enjoys a simple life filled with walks, exploring the yard, carrying around his favorite stuffed toys, and keeping an eye out for squirrels and other backyard critters. He especially loves car rides and is always ready to join you for an adventure. When treats are involved, Ace can even show off his impressive skill of catching them right out of the air. He’s a smart dog who knows cues such as “come,” “sit,” “wait,” and “get on.” On leash, Ace is easy to walk and enjoys getting out for daily exercise, though he wouldn’t mind a few extra opportunities to stretch his legs and strengthen his hind end. Ace gets along well with other dogs and has a friendly, easygoing personality with the people he meets. While his foster family hasn’t had the opportunity to see him around young children, he would likely do well with respectful kids ages 6 and up. Because he’s a larger dog who can be enthusiastic when seeing wildlife and critters on walks, a home without frail seniors or very small children would be the best fit. What Ace wants most is companionship. He forms strong bonds with his people and prefers not to spend long periods alone. Hello friends, I'm Nova! I'm an 11-month-old, neutered male, German Shorthair Pointer mix. I am expected to grow to be about 75lbs when I'm an adult. I'm a sweet young fellow with a ton of energy who loves getting attention and affection when I'm not playing fetch with my favorite toys! Because I'm a working-type dog with a super amazing nose; I keep my nose to the ground, sniffing my next adventure. I would like to go home with a family who is experienced with my breed. I'd be perfect for a family with dog savvy kids 10+. If you have any resident dogs, I'd love to meet the whole family before I move in. I'm ready for lots of adventures, training, and most of all, love! Nova ID#A0988989 I recently went on a field trip with a PHS Volunteer! Here's how I did: We walked one lap around the building before going to my car. Nova looked into the back seat, took a few seconds to assess the situation, and then jumped in. Nova behaved well during the car ride, although I initially gave him too much slack on the leash, allowing him to move into the front seat. Once we arrived in my neighborhood, we visited the vendors who were setting up for the street fair. Nova pulled strongly because he wanted to investigate everything. He saw several small, Yorkie-sized dogs but was more interested in the surrounding sights, sounds, and smells. On the way back to my house, he stopped and held a point on a scent. When we arrived at my yard, Nova wandered around and explored the layout. We then played fetch with various balls, stuffies, and Kongs. He was enthusiastic about retrieving the toys but was less interested in releasing them. I threw another toy, which caused him to drop the toy in his mouth and chase after the new one. Nova enjoyed drinking from the spray nozzle of the hose. I allowed him to chase the stream of water for a while before we returned to Lantos. For the drive back, I kept Nova on a short leash. He was happy to sniff out of the back window. Nova has a good foundation in “sit” and “lie down.” However, when I attempted to transition from “sit” into “stay” and walk behind him, he followed me instead of remaining in place. Overall, he is very good boy with a lot of potential. Unless otherwise indicated, adoptable animals are located at our Lantos Center for Compassion at 1450 Rollins Road, Burlingame, CA 94010. You may call us at 650-340-7022 to schedule an appointment, or just drop by. Drop-In hours for Same Day Adoptions are 11 am – 5 pm, 7 days a week (closed major holidays). We do our best to update our listings regularly, but we can’t guarantee every animal you see is still available. It’s also typical for us to have animals who haven’t had their photos taken yet, so you are welcome to visit our adoption center and have a look around!
