Story
Raine is a 10-month-old male who will shower you with love! He’s a sweet boy who gets along with his foster siblings (male and female dogs), does well with housetraining when on a good schedule, and likes to play like any young GSP! Raine does well in his crate for a few hours a day and enjoys older children. He wants a home committed to his training – people who have the time, patience, and energy to give him! Raine is ready to shine. If you enjoy training, enrichment, and exercise and are ready to bring out the best in him, Raine is ready to join your home and be your new best friend! Note: Raine has a slightly droopy left eye – it’s a condition called “idiopathic Horner’s Syndrome.” The cause is not known and it will most likely improve by itself over time. Monitoring by a vet is recommended. Our adoption process begins with our adoption questionnaire: https://norcalgsprescue.org/adoption-questionnaire/ (Please note that we adopt primarily within Northern California and our minimum age for kids is 6) If you'd like to see what Raine's been up to, check out his/her posting in the Available Foster Dogs section: https://norcalgsprescue.org/available-dogs/. That's where you'll find all the latest info about all of our available dogs. Story
Meet our pint-sized dynamo Gideon, at 7 years young he is the master of finding snug spots, even if it means claiming the tiniest corner of the room. You’ll often catch him cozying up in armchairs, making himself at home in the most adorable fashion and he is a true cuddle bug. Despite the occasional spillage, in true GSP fashion, from his water bowl, he’s tidy for a furry friend. Now, onto his latest escapade – the spin! Picture this: he’s giving it his all, twirling around with enthusiasm, mastering the art of the spin about half the time. It’s a work in progress, but oh-so-endearing to witness his determination. But wait, there’s more! Gideon is making strides in independence, willingly trotting into his crate, even with his trusted human out of sight. He also lets his human know when it’s time to head outside for his potty break. When it comes to outdoor adventures, he’s becoming quite the explorer. His recall is improving by leaps and bounds, and he’s gaining confidence in the backyard, especially with a watchful eye nearby. With each passing day, his outdoor excursions are extending, from a mere five minutes to a solid half-hour of supervised playtime. Yet, amidst all these triumphs, one thing remains unchanged – his vocal nature. This little chatterbox has a lot to say and isn’t shy about letting everyone know. But hey, who can blame him for wanting to share his thoughts with the world? If Gideon seems like he could fit into your life and family, please apply to adopt him today! He’s ready to make you very happy! Our adoption process begins with our adoption questionnaire: https://norcalgsprescue.org/adoption-questionnaire/ (Please note that we adopt primarily within Northern California and our minimum age for kids is 6) If you'd like to see what Gideon's been up to, check out his posting in the Available Foster Dogs section: https://norcalgsprescue.org/available-dogs/. That's where you'll find all the latest info about all of our available dogs. Story
Sweet and spunky – just like her name! Cocoabean is young and enjoys all the fun she can. As a stray at a full shelter, she stole the hearts of the staff there. Her charisma continued to delight her foster family and dog siblings. In her foster home, she’s not just a pet; she’s the chief mischief-maker and the master of fun, keeping her foster family and furry siblings on their toes with her playful antics. Adventure is her middle name, and Cocoabean is always game for a romp in the park or a chase around the yard. She’s the reigning sprint champion at the dog park and the undisputed tag champion with her foster dog pals. And she loves to learn! At just one-year-old, she’s already mastering the art of sit, stay, and down like a pro, with her eyes set on mastering even more tricks. Looking for a forever family that shares her zest for life, Cocoabean is open to new playmates, both furry and human. While she’s a big fan of kids, she’s still perfecting her greeting etiquette (no jumping, please!), but with a little guidance and a lot of love, she’s sure to get the hang of it. With her boundless energy and “kangaroo legs” that are just itching for adventure, Cocoabean is ready to bounce her way into the hearts of her forever family. Are you ready to welcome this lovable ball of energy into your home? Our adoption process begins with our adoption questionnaire: https://norcalgsprescue.org/adoption-questionnaire/ (Please note that we adopt primarily within Northern California and our minimum age for kids is 6) If you'd like to see what Cocoabean's been up to, check out her posting in the Available Foster Dogs section: https://norcalgsprescue.org/available-dogs/. That's where you'll find all the latest info about all of our available dogs. Story
Fargo is on the hunt for fun and excitement, and his forever home! This under-1-year-old boy is all GSP and ready for almost anything. Fetch? Yep! Run? Here he comes! Play and wrestle with other dogs? Count him in! Swim? His favorite thing to do! Don’t let his joy to play fool you. He’s a smart, loving and easygoing dog. He came to his foster home with little-to-no training and is quickly picking up on all the important cues. He still has much to learn but has proven to easily listen and learn. Fargo enjoys the company of others. He gets along well with his multiple foster dog siblings and would do best in a home with another dog around. His excitement for people means he might jump to say hi, but he’s working on that. His enthusiasm might be too much for little kids. Fargo also has shown signs of separation anxiety, so it is recommended he be in a home where someone is around and can work with him on that. He’s an adaptable dog who we met in a shelter, took him on a long freedom ride across the state, and is already settling in well to his new surroundings, despite only being there for a few weeks. If you’re looking for a smart and sweet young GSP with a kick of energy, add Fargo to your family. He’s excited to meet you! Our adoption process begins with our adoption questionnaire: https://norcalgsprescue.org/adoption-questionnaire/ (Please note that we adopt primarily within Northern California and our minimum age for kids is 6) If you'd like to see what Fargo's been up to, check out his posting in the Available Foster Dogs section: https://norcalgsprescue.org/available-dogs/. That's where you'll find all the latest info about all of our available dogs. Story
Jake is a beautiful, black & white, 50-pound, 1-year-old, neutered male who can happily spend hours checking out the backyard, retrieving a ball, or curling up on a human lap. He truly has a great disposition and good manners! On the plus side, Jake is good with children, adults, dogs, and cats – if they don’t run away. He is crate trained, housetrained, can swim but prefers not to, doesn’t jump fences, knows several cues, including sit, stay, and drop, and is food motivated, making him eager to learn. Jake communicates with sound but only barks when prompted. Even though he loves to run, play, catch, and smell all day long, he wants to chill – preferably on your lap or beside you on the sofa after dusk. On the challenging side, Jake has been known to eat non-food items that put him at risk. Breaking him of this dangerous habit will take a long period of caution and attention combined with a lifestyle of exercise and usefulness. While in foster care, Jake wears a muzzle over his mouth when playing outside and a muzzle when playing inside or crated, but he does not need the muzzle when he is watched carefully. Jake can chew and swallow almost anything, so, unfortunately, toys are out of the question. Jake’s ideal forever home will have enough space in the backyard to get up speed and send a tennis ball flying, time and interest to keep his mind engaged, and some canine companionship to keep him occupied when the humans are gone. He would also do best with someone around most of the day with him. If you can provide Jake with the home he needs and deserves, please apply today! Our adoption process begins with our adoption questionnaire: https://norcalgsprescue.org/adoption-questionnaire/ (Please note that we adopt primarily within Northern California and our minimum age for kids is 6) If you'd like to see what Jake's been up to, check out his posting in the Available Foster Dogs section: https://norcalgsprescue.org/available-dogs/. That's where you'll find all the latest info about all of our available dogs.March 1, 2024, 2:13 pm
