Story
Yahoo is a sweet, silly ~6 month old mixed breed puppy and he's ready to bring the fun to his new home! We aren't sure about his breed combo, but his ears sure look like they're trying to stand up ...or maybe like he is ready to give hang gliding a try! He loves people, loves to play, loves his dog friends, and is just a happy guy! If you're ready to add a fun little one-man pep squad to your household, we'd love to hear from you! This puppy Is spayed/neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, treated for all of the intestinal parasites, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. Because intestinal parasites are cyclical, your puppy may need additional treatment once you get him/her home. This is common and nothing to be alarmed about. Puppies and dogs need to be treated periodically for parasites throughout their entire lives. The adoption fee is $550 if your adoption is prepaid prior to your pup's arrival. An additional $50 will be charged on puppies that are adopted at an event, or foster home. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with CT HB 5368. WANT TO MEET OUR DOGS IN PERSON? Check the Events tab on cprdogs.com for all weekend adoption event info. The majority of the dogs marked as 'meet me' will be there to see you! More and more of our adopters are having fun with DNA tests on their pups. You might ask yourself why our breed guess is varying degrees of difference from the DNA tests. Most of our puppies are rescued from high kill shelters or other abandonment situations and we have no info on parents. When we rescue puppies that have no background info, we make our very best educated guess as to breed mix and age. Our guesstimate comes from years and years and years of animal welfare work and training, but our guesses won't always agree with your vet, your neighbor, your DNA test, etc. The most important thing to know about your puppy's breed mix is that most likely he/she is a Super Lovable Mutt made of many many many different breeds. If you are a MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at the Woburn MA isolation facility. Your new family member will be dropped off by our transport on Thursday and will be ready for you to pick him/her up on Saturday between 11 am-1 pm. An additional $100 fee will be added for any dogs picked up from the Woburn MA quarantine facility. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with MA Order 405-CD-12 and Order 1-AHO-05. TO APPLY PLEASE GO TO www.cprdogs.com. If your application was successfully submitted you will get an automatically generated confirmation email. Please DO NOT USE the ADOPTAPET "CONTACT THIS RESCUE GROUP" form below or you may not hear from us as these often end up in spam or bouncing back. After receipt of your application, an adoption counselor will then be in touch to answer your questions about this pup, discuss the adoption process and get the ball rolling! If you have not heard from one of our volunteers within 5 days of submitting your application, please email mollibo@gmail.com.

Story
Sweet Storm is just at a year old and ready for a home to call his very own! This handsome fellow is 55 lbs of love and joy. He enjoys playing with other doggy friends and LOVES to meet new human friends. He walks nicely on leash, enjoys a car ride and would be good citizen at the dog park. If you're ready to add a snuggly love to your holiday festivities, Storm would be happy to take the role. Apply to adopt today at www.cprdogs.com. Storm is spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. All dogs 6 month + receive a Proheart 6 injection at the time of their heartworm test. This provides heartworm prevention for 6 months from the time of that injection. This dog has tested negative for heartworms. The adoption fee is $450 if your adoption is prepaid and final prior to your dog's arrival. An additional $50 will be charged on dogs that are adopted at an event, or foster home. Story
I have an Adoption Pending but hope you will consider one of our other dogs in need. Thank you! Murphy is a handsome 11-year old Golden Retriever who was lovingly cared for his whole life. Sadly, when his owner had to move to senior housing and was unable to bring Murphy along, he remained alone at his home for several weeks. During that time a wonderful community of friends and neighbors took care of Murphy until he became a Sunshine dog. They all grew to know and love Murphy during those weeks and there were many tears as they said farewell and sent him on his journey to his new life. Currently in foster care, we have learned that Murphy is a happy Golden who adores all humans, young and old, big and little. He recently met his foster's grandkids and played nicely with all of them. In classic Golden style, Murphy loves to be petted and has "the Golden lean" perfected, coming in close for pets. This gentle, good boy just loves being close to his people. Murphy enjoys his walks and walks nicely on a leash. In fact, he can be a bit stubborn if he decides he would like to walk farther by stopping until you continue on! He also loves his stuffies and will proudly present them to you. His foster mom shared, "He seemed to want to go out but it was confirmed when he started "talking" then came around the sofa with my gloves and headband in his mouth to bring them to me! What a hoot!" He eats well and, at 110 lbs, Murphy is a large Golden who could stand to lose a few pounds. Murphy can climb a few stairs and may eventually manage a full flight with some weight loss, regular exercise, and perhaps some supplements to aid his mobility. He needs a little boost to get into the car and rides well, although he does not seem to love car rides as some dogs do. We believe that sweet Murphy has lived a rather quiet lifestyle and was the center of his person's world. He does not appear to have much experience with other dogs or cats, and does not seem to need them at all! Thus, we believe he will be happiest as an only dog. His favorite things are his walks, his stuffies, and his human. A home where Murphy can spend the rest of his years being someone's special boy would make him so happy. With all the smiles he will bring you, you'll be happy too! Murphy is up to date on his vaccinations, neutered, and heartworm negative. While he does not take any medicine, it may be that joint supplements commonly given to older dogs may help him stay comfortable. This gentle, good boy is being fostered in New England and would love to meet you! If you would like to give Murphy the loving retirement home he deserves and you are approved to adopt through SGRR, please contact Mary to be considered. Rescued dogs come with a range of needs - from behavioral to emotional to medical. When approved applicants adopt such dogs, they agree to become an important, forever part of their life journey by continuing the rehabilitation we have begun. If not yet approved for adoption, please visit our website to learn more and to submit an online application. Click here to visit our website. Please contact us with any questions regarding your application status. PLEASE APPLY by submitting an application via this online link: Click for Adoption Application About Our Rescue Before being approved to adopt, all potential adopters need to complete our online application and participate in our pre-adoption review process. The process includes the completion of an online application, a reference from the applicants' vet, a phone interview, and a visit to the applicants' home. The application process helps us determine what type of Golden would be best suited for the applicants' life style. In some cases, the specific dog you are interested in may have found a home before this process is complete or further assessment may find that this dog is not the right match for your family. We are regularly getting new Goldens in need of a home, so we encourage you to apply and get approved so that when the right dog comes along you will be ready. The information provided on each dog is based on observations of our vets, volunteers, fosters and when available, trainers. While we do our best to report any and all issues, SGRR does not make any guarantees as to the health or temperament of any dog. Dogs evolve differently in different environments and we cannot predict with any certainty how the dog you adopt will act in your home. Many of our dogs are fostered in private homes and we do not have a facility to visit. We are committed to our dogs before, during, and after adoption! The rescue retains title to the dog and can never be released or sold. Should the adopters no longer be able to keep the dog, SGRR must be notified so that we can take the dog back into rescue and place it into another home. We reserve the right to remove a dog at any time should we find the adopter is no longer caring for their Golden in a way we see fit. Adopters then have to agree to follow up visits as needed. Story
Alana came to SGRR when her former owner faced difficult economic times. Alana was left home most of the day with her brother, Ace, and received little mental or physical stimulation. Knowing she deserved better, Alana surrendered to our rescue and is ready to start her new life. This 4-year-old girl was born on 8/30/2021 and truly has a way of lifting your spirits just by resting her head in your lap. Her foster mom shares, "Alana is so much fun. She’s confident and playful. She will just walk up to Ace and take his ball, and they will sometimes play tug of war. She totally ignores his growling, protecting his ball. She loves to play and retrieve, as you can see in her video! They don’t lie next to each other or look for the other when they are gone. She also doesn’t seem overly interested in Maki (our resident dog), but she loves people and is cuddly when we sit on the floor. She loves to go for hikes in the woods, is easy to walk, and is very efficient on eliminations." Alana is about 4 years old and weighs around 45 lbs. This Golden Retriever/Poodle mix would make a faithful, fun, and devoted companion. She has the biggest heart and the sweetest disposition! She is very well behaved and is housebroken. Alana has been spayed, vaccinated, and tested negative for heartworm. She is in the northeast and ready to meet her forever family! If you are approved to adopt through SGRR, please contact Cheryl Kewley to be considered for Alana. If you are not yet approved, please visit our website to fill out an application! Story
These difficult economic times have caused many pet owners to have to give up their beloved pets. Such was the case with Ace and his sister, Alana. This handsome 6-year-old Golden Retriever is seeking his new forever home where he can play ball and get lots of snuggle time. Foster mom shares, "He is very affectionate and sweet to people. He leans in for pets and likes to cuddle if we sit on the floor. He loves playing ball - retrieves beautifully, drops the ball, and waits for the next. Inside, he wants to carry balls and grumbles at both other dogs if they come close, but Alana just ignores him and takes it anyway, and he doesn’t do anything. Some tough guy!! LOL He barks when someone comes to the door, but is quickly quiet, sits promptly, and eliminates efficiently when we take him out. Mostly Ace loves being with people, is friendly, and rests near where you are after ball-playing together. He also loves snuggle time, family affection, and lying by a warm fireplace. He is a very handsome guy, not high-strung, and happy with regular short walks." There are many reasons why Ace would be a wonderful addition to most homes: Ace is a snuggler, he sits on the foster family's laps and cuddles on the couch. He likes to give very soft kisses with the tip of his tongue. He has a very gentle way about him. When his fosters give him a hard, crunchy cookie and he has to flip it multiple times and let it soften before he will crunch into it. He is very efficient, the fosters take him out and he pees right away. He really loves to play ball. A chuck-it is the best way to keep him happy. He definitely needs a yard where he can retrieve. He knows where everyone is and always sits in the room with his people. He is a classic golden. We ask you to inquire to adopt Ace only if you are prepared to be stopped when you're out and about - people won't be able to help themselves from commenting about how stunning he is! Not only that, but Ace is a sweet, loving, and highly intelligent guy. Take a look at his video with Ace, Alana, and their foster brother. Ace is up-to-date on vaccinations, neutered, and negative for heartworm. He weighs around 65 lbs and is in the northeast, and is waiting for you to grab his leash and take him home! If you are approved to adopt through SGRR, please contact Cheryl Kewley to be considered to adopt Ace. Rescued dogs come with a range of needs - from behavioral to emotional to medical.
