Story
Hi there, I'm Fern! I'm here to let you know I’m looking for a forever or foster home. At 6 years young, I'm a 79 pound Golden Retriever with a heart of gold to match my fur. I may be a bit skittish at first, but once I warm up to you, I promise to be your most loyal companion. People often say I'm a total doll, and I can't help but agree. While I may prefer the company of humans, I'm indifferent to other dogs. But don't let that fool you—I'm still a total sweetheart. I'm ready to start a new chapter filled with love, laughter, and endless belly rubs. I can't wait to meet my forever family and show them just how special life with a rescue dog like me can be. Are you ready to welcome me into your home? Fern is available for adoption but is also in need of a foster home. To Adopt (or foster-to-adopt), please complete the adoption application here: https://anewchancear.org/adopt/adoption-application To Foster, please complete the foster application here: https://anewchancear.org/foster/fostering-application/ Thank you so much for your interest in adopting a dog from A New Chance Animal Rescue (https://anewchancear.org). We are a 501c3, tax deductible organization. ANCAR is a foster-based rescue, and we adopt within a 90 mile radius of Bedford Hills, NY. You will find the adoption application here: (https://anewchancear.org/adopt/adoption-application/). All fields on the application must be completed. Please read about the adoption process (https://www.anewchancear.org/adopt/our-adoption-process/) so you'll know what to expect when you submit. Our dogs are in foster care and we do NOT have a shelter or boarding facility. AN APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED IN FULL AND APPROVED BEFORE A DOG CAN BE MET. This is a firm policy. Our busy volunteers are not able to respond to questions about the dog or dog meeting requests in the absence of an application. We know these dogs very well because they are in foster care. Please read the profiles of the dog(s) you are interested in prior to submitting an application. If there are specific requirements stated (ie: Fenced Yard or Canine Friend Required) these are included because they are vital to the happiness, health, safety and adoption success of that dog. We are only able to save as many dogs as we have foster homes (https://www.anewchancear.org/foster/faqs/) and resources for. We provide medical care including vaccinations, testing, deworming, spaying/neutering and microchipping before transporting our dogs. We provide all supplies, preventatives and any follow up vet care necessary while they are in foster care. These costs are high and the number of lives we can save is entirely dependent upon donations from people like you. We do not receive funding from private foundations or government sources. If you can find room in your heart to help us, with any amount, we are truly grateful (https://www.anewchancear.org/help/donate/). We are a 501c3 organization, so all donations are tax-deductible. It is only through the kindness of supporters like you that we are 'changing lives...one tail at a time' by providing our dogs with 'A New Chance.' (https://anewchancear.org) Thanks so much.

Story
I have an Adoption Pending with Mushu but hope you will consider one of our other dogs in need. Thank you! One of our southern volunteers was made aware of a lovely 6-month-old golden-colored mixed breed pup who was brought into a shelter in AL by someone who said they found two dogs. When our volunteer inquired about the pup, she was told the pup was there with her mate who also needed urgent rescuing. The shelter was at capacity and time was of the essence. We just could not leave a boy as sweet as Mushu to an unknown fate, simply because he was not fully golden in color. And thus, Mushu & Nina found their way to our rescue. Nina is a honey and cream-colored beauty and is as charming as can be. Nina is a true wiggle-butt and loves nothing more than to snuggle and be petted. She looks like a mini–Golden Retriever and is a bundle of love. Nina has been brought up to date on vaccinations, and is spayed, heartworm-negative, and micro-chipped. She has been given a Proheart injection which provide 6 months of heartworm prevention. At about 6 months of age, Nina weighs approximately 30 pounds and we estimate she will probably weigh around 45 pounds when fully grown – a nice, medium-sized pup to cuddle with! Be sure to watch the prancing pups in action in their video! If you are home most of the day, have a sense of humor, and are approved to adopt through SGRR, do not wait to contact us about Nina and Mushu. They will be arriving in the northeast in early May. Rescued dogs come with a range of needs - from behavioral to emotional to medical. When approved applicants adopt such dogs, they agree to become an important, forever part of their life journey by continuing the rehabilitation we have begun. If you would like to be part of Nina's rescue story and are already approved to adopt through SGRR, please contact Cheryl Kewley to be considered to adopt Nina. If not yet approved for adoption, please visit our website to lean more and to submit an online application. Click here to visit our website. Please contact us with any questions regarding your application status. PLEASE APPLY by submitting an application via this online link: Click for Adoption Application About Our Rescue Before being approved to adopt, all potential adopters need to complete our online application and participate in our pre-adoption review process. The process includes the completion of an online application, a reference from the applicants' vet, a phone interview, and a visit to the applicants' home. The application process helps us determine what type of Golden would be best suited for the applicants' life style. In some cases, the specific dog you are interested in may have found a home before this process is complete or further assessment may find that this dog is not the right match for your family. We are regularly getting new Goldens in need of a home, so we encourage you to apply and get approved so that when the right dog comes along you will be ready. The information provided on each dog is based on observations of our vets, volunteers, fosters and when available, trainers. While we do our best to report any and all issues, SGRR does not make any guarantees as to the health or temperament of any dog. Dogs evolve differently in different environments and we cannot predict with any certainty how the dog you adopt will act in your home. SGRR ADOPTION FEES - Effective May 1, 2020 (subject to change) $750 Puppy - up to 6 months $650 Young 6 months - 6 years $550 Senior 7 - 9 years $450 Senior 10 years and older $550 Young Special Needs $400 Senior 7+ Special Needs $1000 Young Bonded Pair $900 Senior 7+ Bonded Pair A contract is signed the day of adoption. Under the terms of the contract, all adopters are required to bring the rescue to a vet within 7 business days. The dogs receive basic veterinary care prior to adoption. If your vet identifies an illness that an adopter is not willing to treat, then the dog is returned and a full refund is provided. Many of our dogs are fostered in private homes and we do not have a facility to visit. We are committed to our dogs before, during, and after adoption! The rescue retains title to the dog and can never be released or sold. Should the adopters no longer be able to keep the dog, SGRR must be notified so that we can take the dog back into rescue and place it into another home. We reserve the right to remove a dog at any time should we find the adopter is no longer caring for their Golden in a way we see fit. Adopters then have to agree to follow up visits as needed. Please be a ray of light for this Sunshine dog and make a tax deductible donation toward medical and other expenses. Every cent of your generosity goes directly toward the care of a Sunshine dog. Story
Sweet Lacey is a stunning beauty who is ready to begin the best years of her life. Lacey is shy, as are many breeder dogs, but craves human affection and is one of the more outgoing of the girls. She will give you a quick lick as if to ask, "Is this okay?" Lacey has a gorgeous golden coat and soft eyes that reach out with warmth and compassion. She was the first of all the now-retired breeder dogs to go up to the front of her kennel to get pets from her human friends. Lacey is good with other dogs and has a nurturing nature about her. Lacey keeps her kennel clean and only goes "potty" when let out in the yard. Estimated to be about 5-6 years old, this sweetie weighs about 65 lbs and is up to date on vaccinations. We don't know how many litters Lacey has had but her baby-making days are over now that she has been spayed! She is micro-chipped and heartworm negative. Lacey has been given a Proheart 6 injection that provides 6 months of heartworm prevention. If you have a quiet home, and your specialty is TLC, don't wait to ask about sweet Lacey. Story
I have an Adoption Pending with Rachel but hope you will consider one of our other dogs in need. Thank you! Bubbles is one of seven Mississippi Breeder dogs who came to Sunshine after spending years making puppies and living in neglectful conditions. At about 7-8 years old and 65 lbs, she is a beauty with her golden coat and just getting some "sugar" on her face. She has a gorgeous large Golden head that you'll love to touch. Bubbles must have been a great mama to all the pups she raised. She cared for one frightened Golden puppy (now adopted) who came with the Goldens on their first night at our vet clinic. Bubbles is the most independent of the Mississippi girls, although she seems a little lonely when out by herself in the clinic yard and may be happiest with another dog for company. It is what she has always known, although it may quickly turn out that hanging out with her humans is what she likes best! Bubbles and Rachel are being fostered together and get along splendidly. Their foster mom shares, "The girls so far are housebroken. When they first go out, they make sneezing noises then in a few minutes they drop and roll, especially Rachel as you can see in this video, with Bubbles standing nearby. Bubbles likes to watch TV and will sometimes bark when she sees a dog on TV. She has found that laying on the couch with her humans is a GREAT thing to do!" We would love to see Rachel and Bubbles adopted as a pair! Bubbles gets along fine with other dogs, and she is learning to walk nicely on a leash. She is a good weight and has recently learned what a peanut butter Kong is all about! Bubbles is now spayed, vaccinated, and micro-chipped. She tested heartworm negative and has been given a Proheart 6 injection for heartworm prevention, so she will not need any additional HW preventatives for 6 months. She takes no other medicine and has no mobility issues. Rescued dogs come with a range of needs - from behavioral to emotional to medical. When approved applicants adopt such dogs, they agree to become an important, forever part of their life journey by continuing the rehabilitation we have begun. Bubbles is learning that a dog's life can be great! If you would like to be part of Bubbles's rescue story, and you have already been approved for adoption through SGRR, please contact Candy to be considered to adopt Bubbles. We would love to see Rachel and Bubbles adopted as a pair! If not yet approved for adoption, please visit our website to lean more and to submit an online application.
