Story
Kobe, an adorable Golden Retriever puppy was born 11/4/25. He currently weighs 23.5 lbs. at 3.5 months old. He is a very active, friendly puppy. He loves to play with toys, people, and other dogs. He has a lot of energy and would love an active home with someone who has a lot of time to play with him. He knows “sit”, “down”, and “shake.” He is very food motivated and easy to train. Also, he is doing well with his housebreaking. Kobe is up to date on vaccinations. Kobe is located in Arkansas. His adoption donation is $1,000 and the transport fee is $165. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers. After you submit your application, please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Once your application has been approved a volunteer with

Story
Honey is a 6-year-old retriever mix who’s basically a living marshmallow! She`s soft, sweet, and full of quiet charm. She may be shy at first, but with a little patience, Honey reveals herself as a gentle, low-key companion who adores calm walks, sniff-filled adventures, and peaceful downtime. She gets along with polite, gentle dogs and knows how to sit and walk nicely on leash, making her perfect for a calm home with older kids and maybe a respectful canine friend. If you have a cozy couch and the patience to let a tender soul blossom, Honey is ready to fill your home with quiet love and soft snuggles. If you are interested in learning more contact our placement team at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter:E: Adoption@hempsteadny.govE: Foster@hempsteadny.govE: Rescue@hempsteadny.govT. 516.785.5220Wantagh Long Island, New York#Adoptme #adoptionistheoption #takemehome #adoption #rescue #rescueismyfavoritebreed #opttoadopt

Story
Amy came to our rescue from a shelter in the Gulf area of Alabama. The shelter staff fell in love with sweet Amy and advocated strongly for her rescue. They knew she was beyond special!! This girl is the most photogenic of dogs and seems to love having her picture taken! Amy sits, smiles, turns this way and that so you are sure to get her good side - but then again, this girl doesn't have a bad side! Amy loves snuggling too and will make herself nice and cozy on your lap and bestow you with a gazillion kisses! It seems Amy was born with a congenital condition that required a femoral head ostectomy (FHO) to restore mobility in Amy's hip. Presently, Amy has a slight limp and is taking some anti-inflammatory medication. Her mobility has improved greatly and while Amy may never run a marathon, she is expected to regain essentially normal function of her affected leg, just like when we humans have a hip replacement! Her recovery is going so well that Heather, one of our volunteers in AL, tells us that Amy has been practicing for a new Olympic event called Wiggling. She likes to wiggle around on her back, which a lot of dogs do. However, Amy will keep wiggling and wiggling and wiggling all the way down the hill! It’s like a game to her, and she is looking for some teammates to join her! Amy is described as gentle, affectionate, nuzzley and kissy with incredibly soft fur. She takes treats with a gentle mouth. Amy is great on a leash and is very playful. She is interested and friendly to other dogs. She was tested with the office cat and was curious about the cat, but not aggressive. She would likely chase after a cat if it ran - simply because it would be fun to do. Amy really enjoys resting in the grass and being told how sweet and pretty she is. She is very trusting and likes being pet and adored and sits or lies down close by. She’s a really lovely girl with those big, brown, kind eyes. Amy is thought to be about 14 months old and weighs about 55 lbs. This Golden/Lab mix will make a faithful, fun, and devoted companion. She has the biggest heart and the sweetest disposition! Check out Amy's video! Amy has been spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and is under treatment for heartworms. She will be ready to come to the northeast in mid-March to meet her forever family! If you are approved to adopt through SGRR, please contact Cheryl Kewley to be considered to adopt Amy. Amy is a real GEM and will not last long, so don't wait to ask about her! Rescued dogs come with a range of needs - from behavioral to emotional to medical. When approved applicants adopt such dogs, they agree to take on whatever comes with the dog. It is up to YOU to continue the rehabilitation we have begun. This is what it means to rescue. If not yet approved for adoption, please visit our website to learn more and to submit an online application. Click here to visit our website. Please contact us with any questions regarding your application status. PLEASE APPLY by submitting an application via this online link: Click for Adoption Application About Our Rescue Before being approved to adopt, all potential adopters need to complete our online application and participate in our pre-adoption review process. The process includes the completion of an online application, a reference from the applicants' vet, a phone interview, and a visit to the applicants' home. The application process helps us determine what type of Golden would be best suited for the applicants' life style. In some cases, the specific dog you are interested in may have found a home before this process is complete or further assessment may find that this dog is not the right match for your family. We are regularly getting new Goldens in need of a home, so we encourage you to apply and get approved so that when the right dog comes along you will be ready. The information provided on each dog is based on observations of our vets, volunteers, fosters and when available, trainers. While we do our best to report any and all issues, SGRR does not make any guarantees as to the health or temperament of any dog. Dogs evolve differently in different environments and we cannot predict with any certainty how the dog you adopt will act in your home. Under the terms of the contract, all adopters are required to bring the rescue to a vet within 7 business days. The dogs receive basic veterinary care prior to adoption. If your vet identifies an illness that an adopter is not willing to treat, then the dog is returned and a full refund is provided. Many of our dogs are fostered in private homes and we do not have a facility to visit. We are committed to our dogs before, during, and after adoption! The rescue retains title to the dog and can never be released or sold. Should the adopters no longer be able to keep the dog, SGRR must be notified so that we can take the dog back into rescue and place it into another home. We reserve the right to remove a dog at any time should we find the adopter is no longer caring for their Golden in a way we see fit. Adopters then have to agree to follow up visits as needed. Story
Neighbors living on a certain street in AL said all they wanted was a good night’s sleep, but with the constant barking of dogs, something had to be done. And finally, something was done. Dozens of dogs and cats were removed from a home by the police. Our sweet little Jemma is one of the dogs who was rescued from this hoarding situation, and we were so happy to take in this cutie pie and find her the loving home she deserves. Jemma is a petite Golden-hearted senior, estimated to be 7-8 years old and weighing right around 30 pounds. If you believe wonderful things can come in small packages, keep reading about Jemma! This doll-baby will melt your heart with her big, expressive brown eyes. She loves to prance around the fenced area at the vet clinic where she has been staying, watching what is happening in her world. Watch her in her video. Jemma spent her first night at her foster home sleeping on the floor until she discovered the bed....a nice luxury for her! Now she sleeps in bed with her foster mom and her dog. She is a good and affectionate girl who can be left alone at home and is practicing her leash-walking skills. She could stand to gain a few pounds, and with good nutrition, we feel her pretty gold and white coat will get shiny and bright. Her wish list is to have a fenced yard for outdoor time and a home where she can spend a good part of her day with her family. Currently completing heartworm treatment, Jemma has been vaccinated, microchipped, and is spayed. She has been given a Proheart-6 injection for 6 months of heartworm prevention. She also had a dental cleaning while at our vet clinic and a small, benign lump removed from her front leg. When she trots along, she has a slight limp, which, upon x-ray, it appears to be from an old injury. No surgery or medication is required, but her little limp is part of who she is. Jemma will be ready to travel to her home in April, but do not wait to ask about this little charmer! If you would like to give Jemma the loving home she deserves and you are approved to adopt through SGRR, please contact Mary to be considered.
