Waffle has traveled all the way from Texas because she wasn’t given a good first chance at life there. Waffle can be a little shy when she first meets new people, but once she feels safe, her gentle and loving personality shines through. She takes treats so politely from your hand and listens well to commands, showing just how eager she is to please. She’s also kennel trained and potty trained, making her an easy addition to the right home. This sweet pup does great with other dogs—both big and small—and walks beautifully on leash with no pulling at all. Harley was recently adopted, and for a brief moment, we thought her next chapter had begun. Very sadly, she had to be returned.Her adopters welcomed her into a home with a flight of stairs leading to the backyard and another flight up to the bedroom where Harley slept at night. Harley gave it her very best effort — her heart was fully in it — but her hips and current weight worked against her. After a couple of days of navigating the stairs, she developed a limp. Her adopters knew that as much as they cared for her, their home layout simply wasn’t the right fit, and they made the difficult and thoughtful decision to bring her back so she wouldn’t risk further discomfort.They shared that Harley was “literally the perfect dog,” echoing everything her foster family had already told us: Harley is an outstanding house guest. He seeks out cuddles without being clingy and loves to relax close to his people. He walks beautifully on leash and knows sit, stay, leave it, off, and down—his recall is selective but reliable. Rudi does well with dogs, cats, birds, and young children. He especially loves cats and happily follows them around grooming them. He’s allowed on the couch but not the bed.
