Story
Taco is a senior Great Dane with continence issues. He needs to go out frequently to avoid accidents. He needs someone who can stay home with him, preferably has a yard. He’s 8 years old and we’ve had him since he was a puppy. We both work full time and it’s unfair to him to be inside having accidents all day and we don’t have a yard for him. He deserves more attention in the time he has left. He’s an old man that just likes to eat, have some ice cubes/treats and sleep. He’s very loving, goofy, and cuddly.

How this pet arrived: This pet was brought in by our Humane Law Enforcement. Why Da Right might be the Right one for you: Da Right has not had it easy and it is going to take a special person to make things Right for Da Right. Da Right wants to know that he is doing the right thing. He wants to be told when he is a good boy. He is social with people (not other dogs) and very food motivated so training should come easy and naturally with Da Right. We can help you with positive reinforcement training techniques that will build Da Rights confidence and encourage good behaviors. He wants (needs) to be the only dog in the home and best if he is the only pet. He wants to be the focus of attention, care and play. He will want lots of playtime. He will be best in a quiet home with low traffic. He will benefit from a clear routine and enrichment schedule that he can depend on. Do you want to take on a needy dog who has not had a great start in life and give him the love and care he deserves and wants? He is ready for a new life. He will try his hardest to make you proud of him. At SDHS:Da Right has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed neutered. Da Right is now ready for his new home! Nova has been doing great in a foster home, and settled into her new routine in just a few days. She is friendly with guests and if you offer her pets, she loves to weave between your legs for full body scratches. Nova is also very food motivated and is pretty content with just one long walk each day. Nova does get excited when she sees other dogs on walks, so she'll benefit from ongoing positive reinforcement training to help manage her reactions. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Check Me out ! Meet Astro!  This sweet boy was turned in to the shelter by his family as they lived in military housing and were about to welcome a baby. Unfortunately, the 29 Palms shelter has limited resources and little space for a dog of Astro's size. ASR stepped in and found a foster for Astro that had land and space for him to romp around on. Astro is a true gentle giant. He is friendly with people, dogs, and cats. He walks well on a leash and is working on taking commands and directions. He is treat-motivated and loves his ball. He is smart and rides well in the car. At around 3 years old, this sweet boy weighs a whomping 120 lbs. Astro has all the fantastic attributes of a Great Dane. Could Astro be the mini horse you've been looking for?    If interested in adopting Astro, click HERE!   Astro's adoption fee is $495, which covers his up-to-date vaccines, microchip, and neuter.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 14, 2025, 10:03 pm
