Story
This handsome 8-month-old mix is big, goofy, and a little dorky in the best possible way (We suspect there might be some Great Dane in there, which would explain a lot!) He weighs around 72lbs of love and is ready to be the best boy to the best family. He’s got the long limbs, the giant heart, and absolutely zero idea how large he actually is.Jim is a lover through and through — he’s super affectionate with the humans in his life and gets along beautifully with other dogs too. Basically, if you have a pulse, Jim is already your biggest fan. He’s ready for a forever home where someone will appreciate his dorkiness, return his big hugs, and maybe help him figure out what to do with all those legs. Story
Oden is a wonderful and growing Great Dane puppy. He spent the first five months of his life on a 5 to 6 foot chain. So when he arrived at the shelter, he did not have a lot of manners. But he is sweet as all get out. He is loving, playful, and just wonderful!

Oden is a wonderful and growing Great Dane puppy. He spent the first five months of his life on a 5 to 6 foot chain. So when he arrived at the shelter, he did not have a lot of manners. But he is sweet as all get out. He is loving, playful, and just wonderful! **** Please read adoption information carefully!!!**** Odin is a stunningly handsome little boy -male, 7 months -supposedly pure-bread, -Neutered -Current Weight : 90 lbs, will grow -Crate trained -Potty trained Odin is a big, funny bundle of joy, energy, and affection. He is just a big goofball! Odin is still a puppy, and will continue to grow. He is on the bigger side, but has an abundance of affection and cuteness! Odin is a well-adjusted puppy who has been hand raised. He has never shown any signs of aggression of any kind, including food aggression, although he can occasionally be a little rambunctious. He really thinks that he is a little dog…. ? Odin wants to be a lapdog; he can’t quite figure out why he doesn’t fit in my lap, but he settles for putting his head in my lap, since the rest of him doesn’t fit 😜 Odin is used to playing and sleeping with the other dogs on the property. He is well socialized, both with humans and dogs. While I have never seen him interact with a cat, I have no reason to anticipate a problem. ************************************ ADOPTION INFORMATION ************************************ I only adopt LOCALLY; San Diego and immediate vicinity. Story
Apollo is a very loving, affectionate, energetic and owner centric dog. He loves to be petted, cuddled, and loved on; making him adoringly "clingly" and in frequently in your space, eager for your love and attention. Being just over 2 years old, he can still get very excited (especially when you get home or he knows its play time) and he tends to forget his size and strength. Apollo loves to please his owner(s) and generally minds well, however, he could benefit from some further training. While trusting and loyal to his owners, Apollo is a true watch dog that is leary of strangers. Apollo does best when provided several short bouts of exercise/training throughout the day, which in turn keeps him calm and happy. Apollo thrives in an environment where he gets lots of love/affection, exercise, and his owner is home a lot; he needs to be in a home where he is the only pet, the owner is patient and experienced in handling large excitable dog breeds.

Story
ATTENTION:  All of our dogs are in private foster homes.  We do NOT have a kennel with multiple dogs.  If you find a dog you want to meet in person, please go to www.secondchancedogrescue.org and complete an application.    We will make every attempt to process all applications within 3 business days of receipt. Meet Roscoe! Roscoe is a 1½-year-old, 85-pound Great Dane mix with a big heart to match his size. He may be a little shy for the first few minutes when meeting new people, but once he warms up, he quickly becomes your loyal best friend. Roscoe is a young, playful guy who would love a canine buddy to run and play with. Like many big, enthusiastic pups, he’s still working on his manners and would benefit from continued guidance and training as he grows into his best self. Roscoe’s story started with heartbreak—he was abandoned when his family moved away and left him in the backyard. He ended up on the euthanasia list before finding safety with us, and now he’s ready for a fresh start with a family who will love him forever. Roscoe has been neutered, microchipped, and is up to date on all vaccines. He also appears to be house trained. With his sweet nature and playful spirit, Roscoe is ready to bring a lot of love (and a little Dane-sized goofiness) into his forever home. His adoption fee is $300. All Second Chance Dog Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, are up to date on vaccines and have microchips prior to adoption.   Adoption fees vary depending on age of dog. Fees help Second Chance Dog Rescue cover spay/neuter costs,   vaccinations, medical treatments, food and supplies. Please go to  www.secondchancedogrescue.org  and complete an application today!    All dogs live in private foster homes until they are adopted.  June 4, 2026, 6:37 pm
