Story
Tall Titan, is a strong and remarkable  Warrior, a dog that has fought to be alive and walking  today on this earth.  He has willed himself to come from the depths of pain and starvation to become this handsome boy that you see right now.  He is our Super Hero Pup and our example of a creature that has never given up even when it would have been easier to just go to sleep and never wake up.  When Titan came to a rescue lady’s house that Critter Cavalry knows, this boy was malnourished and just a skeleton of the puppy he should be as a Great Dane.  The lady has a love for the Danes and she asked CCR to please take him into our rescue before she fell in love and couldn’t let him go.  She had enough dogs and just felt the temptation to keep him was too great.  We agreed and soon Titan was ours to raise and get prepped for a new home and family.  Shortly afterwards his foster family noticed he was struggling to walk and his joints were inflamed. Titan was taken to several vets before receiving the diagnosis of  Hypertrophic osteodystrophy (HOD). He has been put on a regimen of medications, high calorie food and hydrotherapy and is now running, jumping and playing with other dogs. His favorite things to do are play with toys, run and nap in the sun. Titan is a large dog and will do best in a home with another large dog or two that he will be able to play with. He will continue to need medication intermittently for some time and to be followed by a veterinarian.  If you have large breed dog experience and are willing to take on this fellas special needs please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue. He is not house trained to hold longer than 4 hours.  He needs to eat separately at mealtimes and he needs to learn better how to play with his toys in a group setting if there are other dogs.  If he is the only dog then there is no special monitoring.  Titan rides like a champ in the car or truck and he is definitely crate trained with good dog/name recall.  He would be easier to watch in the yard if you had a real physical fence installed since he likes to wander off out of curiosity.   Please email Critter Cavalry at ccrnewengland@gmail.com if you are interested.  He is great with young children/boys that are rough and tumble and lots of noise. PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comApril 23, 2024, 4:30 pm

Story
Laylah is a beautiful pure bred Great Dane that is 129 pounds and 4yrs young.  This girl lost her home because the other female Great Dane was jealous of her and jumping on her to create a fight.  The family could not afford for them to seriously hurt each other. It was best to have Laylah leave the home for her own safety. She is totally vetted and  spayed and is up to date on vaccines.  She came in scared and unsure of everything because of the turmoil she has been experiencing at her home.  After some work and socializing, she has come out of her shell and she loves to be by her person's side and will make a great companion for someone.  She would most likely need to be an only dog since she is still suffering from the fear of being attacked again by another dog.  She does not show fear to all dogs…but some of the larger ones she is defensive at the moment. She hasn't been off leash around cats but seems to not mind them walking by, even appeared playful through the glass with a cat in the cat colony. She has done well meeting new people but gets nervous if her secure shelter person leaves the room.  She shows this by waiting nose to the door until her person comes back. She walks great on a leash and hops right in the car and rides well. She loves to lay on her stuffies and play with her toys, just playing never destroys them. She will carry around the toy in her mouth just to show everyone what she has. In the mornings she gets the pony girl zoomies where she just yeehawws around the yard until she wears out then she is pretty reserved the rest of the day hanging out behind the shelter desk. When too many dogs are going in out it stresses her so she gets put up in an office until things settle down.  She doesn't seem to mind kids and she will greet them gently. Another plus is that she is also housebroken.

His enthusiasm for people, playing, and hugging makes him a real "Mr. Personality." He enjoys attention and soft toys, brings joy and laughter to everyone he meets!Given his size and energy level,we reccomend a home without small children. A nice yard is a must. This will provide him with the space he needs to romp and play to his heart's content. Bogey needs to learn boundaries and personal space with other dogs and he would really t benefit from a home that can provide him with training and guidance in socializing with his canine friends.Bogey's affectionate nature and goofball personality makes him a wonderful potential family member for the right household. It's clear that he just needs someone who understands his needs and breed, and is willing to provide the necessary guidance and training to ensure he thrives in a new home. If someone is willing to give him a chance, they will be rewarded with a loyal and entertaining companion. Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet.       Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!    Make a tax-deductible donation today and help save a life. Story
Toby-at-a-glance: 3-year-old, male, neutered, Great Dane/Plott Hound mix, up-to-date on core vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Toby is on monthly tick/flea/heartworm prevention.  Toby is the cutest wiggle butt! Every morning, he does a full-body wiggle to start his day. He is well-versed in high fives and kisses. Being taken in by his foster family/Lovepaws from an overcrowded, high-kill shelter, this sweet boy is very loving and affectionate with an affinity for walks, chew toys, and his bed/crate. He has done well with older children, even playfully stealing a fluffy toy from the youngest member of his foster family, and his foster parent reports he will likely be good with younger ones too. Toby is an active dog who would enjoy a nice yard with a tall fence and lots of walks/runs. He would be eager to go on adventures with his new human(s). Once he gets his exercise, he is content to settle down and cuddle/chew on his toys. His foster reports he may have seasonal allergies and is fascinated by small animals/birds. Toby is graceful, and fast, with the most beautiful shiny coat! If you are looking for a snuggly, active buddy to accompany you on adventures, Toby is the one for you!  Interested in adopting? Of course, you are! Story
Meet Zorro! This studious pup graduated with a degree in cuddling and puts that degree to great use! His foster mom can attest, he is a grade-A cuddler who would choose to cuddle with his human all day if possible! He aims to please and is eagerly awaiting someone who can test his knowledge with some fun training sessions. He is happiest running around, sprawled out on the couch or his bed, or chewing on large bones. Zorro loves meeting new dog buddies and wouldn`t mind having a canine sibling. He has lived successfully with two social cats and enjoys hanging around kids of all ages.New environments and sounds can be a little scary for Zorro, so he would appreciate a consistent environment with some human(s) that can show him the world isn`t so scary after all! In exchange for your patience, he will reward you graciously with lots of affection and tail wags. He is looking for a home with a yard, so his personality can truly flourish! Other words to describe Zorro? LOYAL, AFFECTIONATE, GOOFY, and a GENTLE GIANT. What`s not to love? If you`ve ever thought you needed a living weighted blanket in your life - set up a meeting with his foster mom today to meet this wonderful gem!
