DISCLOSURE: The adoptable pets in our program are still in the care and custody of owners who wish to re-home their pet. Owners have enlisted Rescue Well to provide marketing and screening of applicants as a service, free of charge. All fees and adoption conditions are determined by the owner. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Captain is 2-1/2yo, weighs 130lbs, is neutered, is up to date on his vaccines, and is microchipped.  He fears/dislikes hats/voluminous hair/bulky clothing.  During the day, Captain is loose inside the home; he's crated in the main bedroom at night.  He can sit in a car, but doesn't like it, and will start to drool. Captain's guardian explains why she has made the difficult decision to rehome him: "Captain is a very sweet gentle giant but he has very many Great Pyrenees traits and needs to be in a farm or farm like environment. We live in a small house with no land and due to his mix being pyrenees dominant rather than dane, we cannot provide him with the environment he needs." Lunge Incident:  Within the past 10 days, Captain lunged at a neighbor in his yard in Frederick, MD; no bite occurred, so the skin wasn't broken; animal control wasn't involved.  Captain's guardian explains:    " Captain lunged at my neighbor due to her approaching inappropriately in my property without him having been alerted first.  The incident was situational.  After having discussed with trainer it was determined that Captain was only trying to protect his “flock” as he is meant to be a flock guardian.  This is what led us to decide he needs to be in a farm.  The place we live is simply not suited to a dog of this nature." Captain's guardian states the following regarding children:  Since Captain hasn't lived with children, his guardian doesn't recommend his living with children, stating  "Captain gets excited around children but I would not recommend he live with children due to his size and playfulness.  He likes contact play and could easily harm a child just due to his size."   Captain's guardiann states the following regarding dogs:  Since Captain has lived with dogs, his guardian recommends his living with dogs, stating "Captain LOVES animals.  He is very playful with other dogs." Captain's guardian states the following regarding cats:  Since Captain has lived with cats, his guardian recommends his living with cats, stating "Mostly indifferent, sometimes if the cat engages". Captain's guardian describes him as: Very active Barks alot Playful Independent Protective House-Trained Crate-Trained Likes men Likes women Captain's guardian describes his ideal future home:  " We would love for Captain to be placed in a farm and be able to live out his best flock guardian dreams.  A home filled with animals and a lot of land to roam would be ideal." She will need a knowledgeable adopter with a fenced yard who is committed to continuing her training and giving her the time and attention she needs. Lilo is fixed and up to date on vaccines and preventatives. The adoption fee for Lilo is $500. Freckles Foundation & Animal Rescue cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. Story
In need of an urgent re-home for our Great Dane mix, Hugo due to family circumstances/move. Hugo is extremely sweet and very loyal to his family, but is usually fearful of new people, animals, and places. He would do best with an adult household who has all the time (and ideally a little land) to allow Hugo to settle in. Patience will be required but in return you will get a handsome, loyal companion for life. Hugo is such a sweet giant baby! He deserves a home with plenty of space to roam and play, and lots of love and attention.

Story
It’s Dobby, the big boy with a big heart! He’s 5 years old and 77 pounds of affection (including a few extra he could stand to shed). We suspect he is a Great Dane / terrier mix. This guy is sweet and friendly to everyone, kids included. He wants to give kisses to every person he meets, and be snuggled close to you at home. Would you believe Dobby is also a gentle angel? He’s polite, housebroken, crate-trained, and knows tons of commands, including: Sit, Stay, Come, Leave It, Outside (he will let you know with a little whimper if he'd like to go outside to use the bathroom), Inside (to go indoors to into his crate), Off (to jump down from furniture), Bed (to lie down for the evening or take a nap), and Eat (his favorite! no matter what he's doing he will come when you say this, so make sure you have some food ready). This pup has been trained so well he's conditioned to sit and wait to eat until after you've said "Grace" and said "Amen". Yes, he's a real gentleman. He learned these skills from his previous family who unfortunately gave him up due to medical issues. He does love to walk also and enjoys playing fetch (but make sure you have two balls as he's reluctant to drop it when there is "only" one!) Dobby loves playing in the yard and walking around the block, but despite his size he doesn’t need a huge amount of activity. He especially loves tug of war and fetch - he'll bring the toy back to you and expect you to tug on it for a couple of seconds, but once you tell him "Leave it" he’ll let go and start the game again. When playtime is over he has no problem calming down. He is very treat motivated and will do anything for a treat, but he has no food aggression, so he will take any size treat from your hand gently.  He would love to sleep at the foot of your bed but he's perfectly happy in his own bed, especially if it’s placed in front of a door or window.  He can be dog selective so he may be better as an only dog, but we will update as we learn more. PAW places animals in the Washington, DC/Baltimore Metropolitan area only. ##1127125##
