Story
Please contact Jetta (Jetta.elliott@att.net) for more information about this pet.Huge loving great Dane labrador mix, femaleAthena is a sweet, excitable girl with a troubled past. She was rescued from a pack of wild dogs. She was the only friendly dog among the pack and the one picked on. She loves people, even strangers, but doesn't particularly like other animals. Athena needs to be the only dog in a home and she also values her personal space when it comes to cats. She doesn't like baths, but she loves to play fetch and cuddle. Athena is spayed and approximately 80lbs about two years old. She is currently with Ozark Homeward Bound animal rescue in Harrison, Arkansas. She is transported to your location through the rescue network transport. There’s no additional fee for the transport service. It is included in the adoption fee.May 10, 2024, 9:34 am

Story
Laylah is a beautiful pure bred Great Dane that is 129 pounds and 4yrs young.  This girl lost her home because the other female Great Dane was jealous of her and jumping on her to create a fight.  The family could not afford for them to seriously hurt each other. It was best to have Laylah leave the home for her own safety. She is totally vetted and  spayed and is up to date on vaccines.  She came in scared and unsure of everything because of the turmoil she has been experiencing at her home.  After some work and socializing, she has come out of her shell and she loves to be by her person's side and will make a great companion for someone.  She would most likely need to be an only dog since she is still suffering from the fear of being attacked again by another dog.  She does not show fear to all dogs…but some of the larger ones she is defensive at the moment. She hasn't been off leash around cats but seems to not mind them walking by, even appeared playful through the glass with a cat in the cat colony. She has done well meeting new people but gets nervous if her secure shelter person leaves the room.  She shows this by waiting nose to the door until her person comes back. She walks great on a leash and hops right in the car and rides well. She loves to lay on her stuffies and play with her toys, just playing never destroys them. She will carry around the toy in her mouth just to show everyone what she has. In the mornings she gets the pony girl zoomies where she just yeehawws around the yard until she wears out then she is pretty reserved the rest of the day hanging out behind the shelter desk. When too many dogs are going in out it stresses her so she gets put up in an office until things settle down.  She doesn't seem to mind kids and she will greet them gently. Another plus is that she is also housebroken.  PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMay 10, 2024, 9:09 am

Story
Meet Ringo, the 1 year old Great Dane mix with a unique personality. He was found playing with kids at a school in Texas, but wound up on the euthanasia list for space at the local tiny high kill shelter that is chronically over capacity. He's mastered house training, but doesn't signal when he needs to go out, preferring a set routine. While he's getting used to crate training and enjoys relaxing in it during the day, he'd rather not be crated at night (needs it though).   Ringo isn't destructive as long as he's entertained and crated when alone. He alerts his people by barking when people come by, but he doesn’t bark much. He’s a good fit for households with other big dogs (or none) and older children as he doesn’t realize his size and can knock smaller kids over by accident. He truly does love kids and would love to be a part of a family with some. His energy level makes him an excellent companion for running, hiking, and long walks.   In terms of training, Ringo knows basic commands like Sit, Stay, No, and Release (when he’s allowed to start eating his food), & he is very food motivated. He's a very curious boy and needs mental stimulation, while preferring to be included rather than left alone.   He’s not a fan of cuddling yet (he may have never known that life)! He loves rubbing his head against people he likes. Sometimes when he gives you a head rub, his shoulder follows along with his back and it turns into a whole body rub from Ringo. While he doesn't require another dog at home, he does need a fenced yard as he enjoys wandering. Overall, Ringo thrives with human companionship and an active lifestyle.   DISCLAIMER- Breed type is determined based on general appearance and behavioral characteristics and cannot be guaranteed unless DNA test results or AKC registration were provided at intake.   ***MOST OF OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN TEXAS, BUT AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION AND TRANSPORT OUT OF STATE. Read below for more information.   Our dogs are transported to a predetermined location agreed upon by the rescue. The adoption contract and fee are finalized prior to transport. As a Pep's Pals Rescue direct adoption, the adoption interview/meet and greet occurs on video call (Skype, FB Messenger call, Facetime, etc).    Our adoption fee is $400 plus health certificate and transport (varies by location). This fee includes all current vaccinations, deworming, microchip (additional $12.99 registration fee required at time of adoption), fecal analysis, spay/neuter for dogs 6 months & older, and a heartworm test if over 6 months old. All dogs are current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. A health exam will be completed and a health certificate issued by a veterinarian within 10 days of transport.   If you are interested in adopting, please fill out the adoption application below: https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/57837/generic ##1994243##
