If you are interested in adopting this dog,  please fill out an Adoption Questionnaire at  https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/43315/generic.  You can learn about the adoption process by visiting: http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/howtoadopt/.  Dog's Name:   Bogie  (BOG0523OWSMN)Estimated Breed:   Pointer / Great Dane MIXApproximate Age:   5-6 yearsApproximate Weight:  94 lbsCurrently Living at:   BoardingAdoption Fee:   $400DOG'S DESCRIPTION:  Bogie is a delightful and energetic guy with a lot of love to give! His enthusiasm for people, playing, and hugging makes him a real "Mr. Personality." He enjoys attention and soft toys, brings joy and laughter to everyone he meets!Given his size and energy level,we reccomend a home without small children. A nice yard is a must. This will provide him with the space he needs to romp and play to his heart's content. Bogey needs to learn boundaries and personal space with other dogs and he would really benefit from a home that can provide him with training and guidance in socializing with his canine friends.Bogey's affectionate nature and goofball personality makes him a wonderful potential family member for the right household. It's clear that he just needs someone who understands his needs and breed, and is willing to provide the necessary guidance and training to ensure he thrives in a new home. If someone is willing to give him a chance, they will be rewarded with a loyal and entertaining companion. Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet.       Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!    Make a tax-deductible donation today and help save a life. Learn more, see our list of dogs needing foster, and apply, https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/foster-a-city-dog.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, Lepto and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained.

Story
Tall Titan, is a strong and remarkable  Warrior, a dog that has fought to be alive and walking  today on this earth.  He has willed himself to come from the depths of pain and starvation to become this handsome boy that you see right now.  He is our Super Hero Pup and our example of a creature that has never given up even when it would have been easier to just go to sleep and never wake up.  When Titan came to a rescue lady’s house that Critter Cavalry knows, this boy was malnourished and just a skeleton of the puppy he should be as a Great Dane.  The lady has a love for the Danes and she asked CCR to please take him into our rescue before she fell in love and couldn’t let him go.  She had enough dogs and just felt the temptation to keep him was too great.  We agreed and soon Titan was ours to raise and get prepped for a new home and family.  Shortly afterwards his foster family noticed he was struggling to walk and his joints were inflamed. Titan was taken to several vets before receiving the diagnosis of  Hypertrophic osteodystrophy (HOD). He has been put on a regimen of medications, high calorie food and hydrotherapy and is now running, jumping and playing with other dogs. His favorite things to do are play with toys, run and nap in the sun. Titan is a large dog and will do best in a home with another large dog or two that he will be able to play with. He will continue to need medication intermittently for some time and to be followed by a veterinarian.  If you have large breed dog experience and are willing to take on this fellas special needs please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue. He is not house trained to hold longer than 4 hours.  He needs to eat separately at mealtimes and he needs to learn better how to play with his toys in a group setting if there are other dogs.  If he is the only dog then there is no special monitoring.  Titan rides like a champ in the car or truck and he is definitely crate trained with good dog/name recall.  He would be easier to watch in the yard if you had a real physical fence installed since he likes to wander off out of curiosity.   Please email Critter Cavalry at ccrnewengland@gmail.com if you are interested.  He is great with young children/boys that are rough and tumble and lots of noise. PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comSeptember 18, 2024, 12:50 pm

Story
It’s Dobby, the big boy with a big heart! He’s 5 years old and 77 pounds of affection (including a few extra he could stand to shed). We suspect he is a Great Dane / terrier mix. This guy is sweet and friendly to everyone, kids included. He wants to give kisses to every person he meets, and be snuggled close to you at home. Would you believe Dobby is also a gentle angel? He’s polite, housebroken, crate-trained, and knows tons of commands, including: Sit, Stay, Come, Leave It, Outside (he will let you know with a little whimper if he'd like to go outside to use the bathroom), Inside (to go indoors to into his crate), Off (to jump down from furniture), Bed (to lie down for the evening or take a nap), and Eat (his favorite! no matter what he's doing he will come when you say this, so make sure you have some food ready). This pup has been trained so well he's conditioned to sit and wait to eat until after you've said "Grace" and said "Amen". Yes, he's a real gentleman. He learned these skills from his previous family who unfortunately gave him up due to medical issues. He does love to walk also and enjoys playing fetch (but make sure you have two balls as he's reluctant to drop it when there is "only" one!) Dobby loves playing in the yard and walking around the block, but despite his size he doesn’t need a huge amount of activity. He especially loves tug of war and fetch - he'll bring the toy back to you and expect you to tug on it for a couple of seconds, but once you tell him "Leave it" he’ll let go and start the game again. When playtime is over he has no problem calming down. He is very treat motivated and will do anything for a treat, but he has no food aggression, so he will take any size treat from your hand gently.  He would love to sleep at the foot of your bed but he's perfectly happy in his own bed, especially if it’s placed in front of a door or window.  He can be dog selective so he may be better as an only dog, but we will update as we learn more. PAW places animals in the Washington, DC/Baltimore Metropolitan area only. ##1127125##
