You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.I am sure you have never seen a prettier girl than me! Hi! I am June! I have a very sweet, sensitive and gentle personality. I was raised with tiny humans, but not other dogs - so I am not a huge fan. However, with a trainer and some discipline, I might be able to work around that. Honestly, I would prefer to be the only dog. I do not mind cats, though!  I am a very sensitive girl, as in, I throw what my foster mom calls 'baby fits.' She also says I'm slightly dramatic when it comes to wanting attention. I do love to be a couch potato with my human. I do not require a fenced in yard if you are able to take me out to potty on a leash. I do not prefer to be outside for a long time - I would just as soon stay in bed with you all day long! I'm a lazy Dane!  My perfect home would be someone who can handle my size. I do not always know that I am a 102 pound great Dane mix. While I am not crazy in the house, I can jump sometimes when new people come if I get excited. I am very gentle with kids, I would prefer no other dogs, and cats would be just fine.  I am spayed, even though it was a treacherous experience for me - I do NOT like to wear a cone, but having my foster Mom dress me in a surgical suit was not my favorite option either. You would have thought she cut my toe off the way I screamed when she tried to put my head through the surgical suit hole. I do not like to be fussed with, it takes too much of my energy. Just love me, pet me, tell me I am beautiful and give me treats! I am up to date on vaccines and microchipped.  If you are interested in me, please apply at www.castawaycritters.org.Kennel License # 04736Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 1, 2026, 9:34 pm

Story
Meet Lulu, our beautiful 4-year-old Great Dane who’s ready for a fresh start. At 120 pounds, she’s a whole lot of love wrapped up in a big, gentle package. Lulu is spayed, fully house trained, and does great on a leash. She’s truly a couch potato at heart — happiest when she’s stretched out beside you for a movie night or leaning in for some extra snuggles. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who enjoys a slower pace of life, Lulu might be your perfect match. Lulu thrives in a calm, low-key environment and would do best as the only dog in the home. She needs to be the center of attention and the sole recipient of your love, as she has had an incident with another dog in the past. In the right home — one that offers structure, patience, and a peaceful setting — Lulu will be an incredibly devoted and cuddly best friend. She’s a big girl with an even bigger heart, just waiting for the right person or family to call her own.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.Dolly has large Great Dane genes grafted onto a somewhat smaller body. Not that anyone would ever call her small, but you would say she's a manageable size, which is perfect. If you love the Dane look, but aren't sure you could handle a full size model, we have Dolly waiting for you. She is currently only 60 lbs., but that is a bit deceiving, as she is very underweight. We would like to see at least 15 lbs. more on her ribs and we are working on it. She is now getting top quality groceries, something she has never had before. Still a young dog, at only about 2 years old, she is in the process of learning about how to deal with the world around her and she is learning fast. Her foster has some comments to help you understand this 'dog-in-progress. 'She’s nervous around new people and things. She does warm up after a bit. Her initial reaction to people that she doesn’t know is to low growl. She is trying to tell everyone to give her a moment to process the new information. I don’t recommend a house with cats or small animals. She’ tries to chase down all the birds,  and squirrels when we’re outside. I’m fairly confident her life prior to rescue wasn’t a good one. It's heartbreaking seeing a good dog trying to cope with a world she was never shown. UPDATE:I have had her for a month now, and she is learning! I took her to the vet today, and while she was nervous, she did not growl. So there has been improvement on that aspect. She wasn’t super outgoing and wanting everyone’s attention, so definitely stand by the slower to warm up to strangers. I highly suspect she’s been abused. She is highly intelligent and learns new things really fast.  She really has the potential to be an excellent dog, and wants to be loved and please her person. MORE UPDATE: Since being here at my house over a month now I have some new insights into her. She is not dog friendly with all dogs.  She's OK with my male dog, but not so happy with my female.  I've been working on getting her to ignore people on walks and she's doing better. She doesn't like it if strangers get to close when we are out.  In the yard. she's definitely going to need at least a 6 foot fence to keep her safely secured.  I will say, she is house trained and does let you know when she needs to go out. She also does very well in her kennel. She is very smart, and can learn things pretty quickly. She has all her shots and is ready and waiting for the person or family who like bigger dogs, but aren't ready for an actual Goliath. Dolly is a good girl! She is hoping you will want to help her be a good dog and come for her soon.   If you are interested in Dolly, please fill out an application at: https://reachoutrescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=4588    Or contact: rorrcanine@gmail.com   *** Click here to sponsor this dog! ***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 26, 2025, 11:42 am

Story
Jade is a stunning blue 6 year old Great Dane with soulful eyes, the softest heart, and the best floppy ears you’ve ever seen. On the petite side for a Dane at about 100 pounds, she’s basically the perfect “lap dog”… if your lap happens to be the size of a couch. After spending her early life being used for breeding, Jade was rescued and is now fully embracing the freedom and love she always deserved. Watching her discover the joys of being someone’s loved pet instead of a breeder has been nothing short of beautiful. Jade is the sweetest, most cuddly girl. If you love big pup snuggles, warm leaning hugs, and a constant companion who thinks personal space is overrated, she is absolutely your girl. Her ideal family won’t mind sharing the couch… or the bed… or both. Like many Great Danes, Jade can be a little nervous when meeting new people or navigating new environments. She just needs a moment to take it all in. Once she realizes she’s safe, she warms up quickly and becomes your loyal shadow. She is: *Great with other dogs *Good with kids *Likely fine with cats (though she hasn’t met one yet) *Potty trained (though some regression can happen during transitions) *Crate trained and comfortable in a gated room when left alone *A dream on leash and loves her walks Jade did have surgeries to remove benign growths on both front feet, but she has healed beautifully and is ready to move forward without looking back. Her ideal home would include a fenced yard, as she appreciates having a secure space and privacy when she does her business. More than anything, she’s looking for a calm, loving home that understands she’s had a big life before this and deserves nothing but softness from here on out. Jade is spayed and up to date on all core vaccinations and preventatives. Adopters must live within 2-3 hours of Reading, PA and be willing to travel there for a meet and greet if selected. Kennel license #9117 Reading, PA 19608

Story
BONDED PAIR WITH LULU! PLEASE SEE LISTING FOR LULU! LULU AND DUKE MAY POTENTIALLY BE ADOPTED SEPARATELY, BUT IT IS PREFERRED THAT THEY ARE ADOPTED TOGETHER! Duke and Lulu are a bonded pair who came into rescue following the death of their owner and loss of their home. As expected after all the changes in their environment and family dynamic the past six months, they seek lots of attention. Both are affectionate, playful and eager to please and would do well in a structured environment with humans who can give them the time and attention they need. Duke seems to be the strong silent type – sitting back observing and taking his cues from Lulu. He warms up right away, while she needs a little time to get comfortable with new people. Both travel in the car extremely well, are crate trained, and have lived peacefully with several inside/outside cats. Their roommates/caretakers report they have high prey drive and do not like Chihuahuas. As far as exposure to children, they have only encountered a 12YO nephew a few times. They both listen considerably well, but could use general manners reinforcement and leash work. If you’re looking to add a pair of loveable, entertaining, in-your-face Danes to your family, then these two are for you! Stay tuned for updates. Please include your home area code and a phone number where a volunteer can reach you when contacting us about an adoption.
