Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.*** Check Out My Video Album Below! *** Big Red is a handsome, chill, and gentle young pup with a thick and super-soft deep red coat. He adores attention from his people, and loves to be hugged and pet. When his foster mom feeds him and his brothers, he will leave his food and get up in her lap for lovings, and then run back and eat some more! Big Red came into rescue with his five brothers, and all of them have young dog energy, enjoying an active lifestyle full of play and adventure. They are half Great Pyrenees, and 100% Good Boys! Red is almost leash trained, knows “sit,” is learning “down,” and is a breeze to groom - he’s done well with brushing and bathing and showed no reaction to nail trims - What a good boy! This curious little boy has lots of energy, but he is not above snoozing on the couch. He will make a great guard dog, as he barks to alert his humans if he sees or hears something out of place. Some words of praise from his people will quiet him down. He’s great with dogs and loves to play with his brothers - “Chase” is a favorite game of theirs! Big Red’s ideal home will have a huge box of toys waiting for him (teddy bears are his favorite!), and be with an active family that includes a canine sibling for him to play with. Red enjoys meeting new people (he’s friendly with everyone!), receiving lots of treats (peanut butter is awesome!), and having a good chew on a marrow bone. Is laid-back Big Red the pup for you?! NGPR Pooch Profile Name: Big Red in LA  Age: 2 yrs 7 mos old as of March 2026 Color: red with white markings  Dew Claws: yes, double  Estimated Adult Weight: 70 - 80 lbs  Current Location: NGPR approved foster in Kelly, LA Medical: Neutered, dewormed, negative for heartworm, up-to-date on vaccinations and currently on flea, tick and heartworm preventative. This dog travels with a Interstate Health Certificate required by the USDA confirming that all the above criteria have been met. Housebroken: likely yes - lives outside, but brought inside for several hours at a time without any accidents  Can be Placed With: Dogs, Kids, Cats Unknown  Fencing: Secure VISIBLE fencing is required; invisible fencing WILL NOT contain this breed. *** Adoption Fee for Big Red if adopted locally without transport is $175. *** Fees: Adoption fees are determined on a sliding scale depending on age, location and transport. Transport costs are included in the adoption fee. Fees for dogs adopted locally start at $400 and can range up to $700 for puppies under six months. Puppies placed on spay/neuter contracts receive $100 back when the dog is spayed or neutered. Fees for senior dogs (7 or older) and foster dogs will be adjusted accordingly. More Information: Questions? The fastest way to learn more about a dog is to fill out our Adoption Application. If you call or e-mail you are reducing your chances of adopting this animal as we direct our time and energy to first serving those who apply. NYS Registered Non-Profit Rescue # RR102. National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) has been rescuing and adopting out Great Pyrenees since 2006. Our relationship doesn’t end with adoption, as we continue to support adopters throughout the lifetime of their dog. Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. March 3, 2026, 1:43 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Ted, best known as Teddy, is a wonderfully affectionate Great Pyrenees who embodies the phrase "lover boy" in every sense. This silly, lovable gentleman is completely housebroken and enjoys a medium activity level, making him a delightful companion for the right home. Teddy is currently working on his crate training and leash walking skills and will need a secure 6-foot fence to keep him safe. What makes Teddy truly special is his enormous heart—he views every person he meets as an instant friend, whether it's children (with whom he's fantastic), adults, or even complete strangers. He has zero interest in cats and is friendly with all female dogs. He requires another dog in the home, preferably a dominant female, who can provide him companionship and structure. Teddy’s greatest need is simple: he wants to be with his people. This velcro dog experiences separation and confinement anxiety when left alone, which means he thrives best in a quiet home with someone who works from home or can take him along on car rides. And if his humans have to leave the home, he’d be content making friends with the doggie sitter! He's happiest sleeping in bed with his humans and following them from room to room throughout the day. While he does whine and will bark to come back inside, he's otherwise quite quiet and doesn't dig. Teddy prefers being indoors and is motivated entirely by attention and affection rather than treats—though he does enjoy soft boiled eggs, chicken feet, and cheese as special favorites. His ideal forever home would include patient people who understand his need for constant companionship, has a large female Pyr already, and is committed to continuing his training journey. If you have the time, love, and canine companion that Teddy needs, this sweet lap dog will reward you with unwavering devotion and endless affection. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.*** Check Out My Video Album Below! *** Meet Serenity, a gentle soul who will steal your heart with one peaceful gaze! Serenity was a Tennessee stray, limping and wandering with two pups that she was nursing. She was in tough shape, extremely matted and had an older break in her leg - her kneecap was completely shattered so the leg started to bow out and the muscles around that leg atrophied. Unfortunately she was not able to keep her leg. This three-legged beauty is a living testament to resilience and love, with a spirit as soft as her long, silky coat. A true cuddle bug who loves nothing more than a cozy bed and your undivided attention, Serenity is looking for her forever family who appreciates mostly quiet moments, with the occasional spontaneous zoomie session! This special girl is a master of charm, winning over every human she meets. This includes kids of all ages, but she would be happiest if small children were only visitors, so she could be your everything and not have to share. Dog friends are fine (she could take or leave them), preferring smaller, low energy males (but she’d be totally cool with being an only dog). She's housebroken, crate trained, and walks well on leash. She also knows her name and basic commands, though she might tune into her "selective hearing" mode! Your odds of cooperation will improve if you have some of her favorite treats on-hand, like Kraft cheese slices, peanut butter and hot dogs! She is incredibly well-behaved and enjoys lounging out on a soft blanket and a couple of pillows in whatever room you’re hanging out in. Sunbathing outside is also enjoyable, so long as her people are doing the same with her. She will happily accept nose kisses, short walks, car rides, ear massages, bones to chew, and brushing sessions as her top love languages. Serenity is looking for a calm environment with a 3’ fence or leash-walk only family. She prefers to dine alone and will happily enjoy her food in her crate, and then rejoin the family for some lovings. This sweet girl has a full-sized spirit and is ready to fill your home with love! If you're seeking a compassionate companion who will touch your soul with every gentle glance, Serenity is your girl - a true precious love waiting to become your furever friend! You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.*** Check Out My Video Album Below! *** Are you looking for a sweet, friendly, eager-to-join-in-any-fun companion? Milo the Pyr/Husky mix may be the pyrfect boy for you. Milo's cuteness is seriously over-the-top, and he brings his A-game to every interaction, every chance he gets. If you are bored with muttering to yourself with no response, Milo will happily chime in and give you his opinion! In fact, the second thing on Milo's wish list is to have his own radio show for all things pup-related. What is the first thing on Milo's wish list, you ask? - His very own furever family, of course! This playful boy has the most delightful pyrsonality, and he will thrive in a home where he is engaged in every aspect of the household. Milo would also love it if his furever people are willing to teach him all kinds of tricks, because he is VERY EAGER to learn and show off his skills. He is already crate trained and knows “sit,” and “down.” He gets along with both male and female dogs of all sizes, from the tiniest Mini Dachshund to the biggest Great Pyrenees! Milo’s ideal home will have a big, 6-foot fenced-in yard (don’t worry, he doesn’t dig!), and an active family that has Husky experience. He’d be happy with or without other canine companions. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.*** Check Out My Video Album Below! *** This handsome young Pyr is on the lookout for a forever home, and honestly? - Whoever snags him is going to be one lucky family! Mellow came to us through a cruelty investigation in NC after being seized by Animal Control — he arrived severely underweight, but that’s all behind him now and this boy is loving rescue life! A few good groceries later, he's filled out beautifully and is absolutely thriving! If there's one thing Mellow wants you to know about him, it's that he is a PEOPLE guy. Kids, adults, strangers, the vet's entire staff — he'll say hi to every single one of them with the biggest, toothiest smile you've ever seen on a dog. (Yes, he does the toothy grin. Yes, it is just as amazing as it sounds.) He's equally wonderful with other dogs, loving to play with the big dogs (see his videos!), and ignoring the little ones he met on occasion. He'd love a 5-foot fenced yard to run around and play in! On the training front, Mellow knows "sit" and is crate trained — though he would like it noted, for the record, that he finds the crate deeply offensive and would prefer you simply trust him. He is a lover of toys above all earthly things, and if you want to be his absolute best friend, just show up with something plush and squeaky. He also loves going on adventures and exploring new places, so if you're someone who likes to bring your dog along for the ride, Mellow is absolutely your guy. This sweet, smiley boy deserves the world. Could you be the one to give it to him?
