Story
Hi everyone! My name is Archie Bunker and I’m here to tell you a little bit about myself. I’m a 7-year-old Pyrenees/Cattle Dog mix, weighing about 60 pounds. I’m a slower-moving, easygoing guy who’s all about the simple things in life. I’m a gentle soul who’s had more hard days than good ones, but that never made me give up hope. I don’t ask for much — a calm, quiet home without young kids, a warm bed, and someone who will love me. I’m good in the car and good on a leash so I’m an excellent companion for easy walks and mellow rides. I can be your steady shadow during the day then curl up nearby in the evenings. If you’ve ever wondered who needs you the most, it’s dogs like me. Give me a warm bed, a gentle hand, and I’ll spend the rest of my life loving you with everything I have. Thank you so much for your interest in adopting a dog from A New Chance Animal Rescue (https://anewchancear.org). We are a 501c3, tax deductible organization. ANCAR is a foster-based rescue, and we adopt within a 90 mile radius of Bedford Hills, NY. You will find the adoption application here: (https://anewchancear.org/adopt/adoption-application/). All fields on the application must be completed. Please read about the adoption process (https://www.anewchancear.org/adopt/our-adoption-process/) so you'll know what to expect when you submit. Our dogs are in foster care and we do NOT have a shelter or boarding facility. AN APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED IN FULL AND APPROVED BEFORE A DOG CAN BE MET. This is a firm policy. Our busy volunteers are not able to respond to questions about the dog or dog meeting requests in the absence of an application. We know these dogs very well because they are in foster care. Please read the profiles of the dog(s) you are interested in prior to submitting an application. If there are specific requirements stated (ie: Fenced Yard or Canine Friend Required) these are included because they are vital to the happiness, health, safety and adoption success of that dog. We are only able to save as many dogs as we have foster homes (https://www.anewchancear.org/foster/faqs/) and resources for. We provide medical care including vaccinations, testing, deworming, spaying/neutering and microchipping before transporting our dogs. We provide all supplies, preventatives and any follow up vet care necessary while they are in foster care. These costs are high and the number of lives we can save is entirely dependent upon donations from people like you. We do not receive funding from private foundations or government sources. If you can find room in your heart to help us, with any amount, we are truly grateful (https://www.anewchancear.org/help/donate/). We are a 501c3 organization, so all donations are tax-deductible. It is only through the kindness of supporters like you that we are 'changing lives...one tail at a time' by providing our dogs with 'A New Chance.' (https://anewchancear.org) Thanks so much.

Story
Charlie is a handsome 55 pound, 13 month old Great Pyrenees/Shepherd mix who is looking for a forever home. This gorgeous boy truly loves his people, including children, and thoroughly enjoys playing with his toys. He would make a fantastic addition to a loving home. Charlie is not only charming but also very sweet! He is housetrained, crate trained, and knows basic commands. While he is an absolute sweetheart with people he knows, he can be a bit wary of strangers initially. Once he gets to know someone, his affectionate nature truly shines through. Charlie also enjoys being outside and would thrive in a home located in a quieter neighborhood where he can comfortably enjoy his outdoor time. Story
Hi, I’m Promise, and I’m a 7-month-old Great Pyrenees mix with the softest fur and the prettiest markings (at least that’s what everyone keeps telling me). I’m already about 60 pounds, so that just means more of me to love and cuddle. I’m still learning about the world, but I wake up every day excited to see what’s next. I absolutely love toys and playing! I’m also really good with other dogs, so if you’ve got pups at home, I’d be thrilled to have playmates. Since she is a very large, exuberant puppy, she would do best in a home without young children. What I want more than anything is a family who sees who I’m becoming, not just where I am right now. I promise I’ll follow you, play with you, and love you with my whole heart. That’s what my name means to me—a promise to be your forever girl. Story
There was a kind man in AL named Billy who loved dogs and thought he would start his own rescue. Things went along okay for a while until Billy found himself overwhelmed with the number of dogs in his care. When he became severely ill and could no longer care for the large number of dogs he accumulated, he reached out for help and we welcomed Wendy to our rescue. While initially shy, Wendy is starting to feel more confident and seeks human attention. Heather, one of our southern volunteers, shared, "She clatters her teeth together from anticipation and excitement like when I walk in. It's like she is so happy to see me that she cannot contain her joy! She craves attention and affection and is extremely sweet. I have walked her around a couple of times on a leash and she doesn’t pull, but she doesn’t know what to do so she weaves a little bit, but I think with some training she will get the hang of it quickly. She loves treats and eagerly accepts them with a gentle mouth. She gets on her rear legs and tries to dance with me. She’s a real hugger. While I discourage her from jumping, it’s awfully loving, so I hug her from a lower level. She's a real gem!" Like many dogs who come from less than an ideal background, Wendy will need some time to settle in when she arrives at her new home. Once she does, you can bet she will sparkle and shine like the sun! And just look at those kind and intelligent eyes - they seem to look right into your heart! In her foster home, Wendy loves playing with her squeaky toys as you can see in her video. Foster dad shares, "I have been sleeping with her each night and she loves to cuddle on the bed. I walk her and she is in very good spirits. She is an awesome dog!!!! She just LOVES you so much and her temperament and desire is to be near you and make you happy." Wendy is believed to be a Great Pyrenees mix and is estimated to be about 8 years old. She weighs 72 lbs, is micro-chipped, spayed, and up to date on vaccinations. Wendy is heartworm negative and has been given a Proheart 6 injection for 6 months of heartworm prevention. She is good with other dogs but smaller animals are a bit too interesting for comfort. Wendy is in a foster home in New England and is ready to meet you. If you would like to give Wendy the best years of her life and you are already approved to adopt through SGRR, please contact Mary to be considered. If you are not yet approved, please visit our website to fill out an application! Rescued dogs come with a range of needs - from behavioral to emotional to medical. When approved applicants adopt such dogs, they agree to become an important, forever part of their life journey by continuing the rehabilitation we have begun. If not yet approved for adoption, please visit our website to learn more and to submit an online application. Click here to visit our website. Please contact us with any questions regarding your application status. PLEASE APPLY by submitting an application via this online link: Click for Adoption Application About Our Rescue Before being approved to adopt, all potential adopters need to complete our online application and participate in our pre-adoption review process. The process includes the completion of an online application, a reference from the applicants' vet, a phone interview, and a visit to the applicants' home. The application process helps us determine what type of Golden would be best suited for the applicants' life style. In some cases, the specific dog you are interested in may have found a home before this process is complete or further assessment may find that this dog is not the right match for your family. We are regularly getting new Goldens in need of a home, so we encourage you to apply and get approved so that when the right dog comes along you will be ready. The information provided on each dog is based on observations of our vets, volunteers, fosters and when available, trainers. While we do our best to report any and all issues, SGRR does not make any guarantees as to the health or temperament of any dog. Dogs evolve differently in different environments and we cannot predict with any certainty how the dog you adopt will act in your home. Under the terms of the contract, all adopters are required to bring the rescue to a vet within 7 business days. The dogs receive basic veterinary care prior to adoption. If your vet identifies an illness that an adopter is not willing to treat, then the dog is returned and a full refund is provided. Many of our dogs are fostered in private homes and we do not have a facility to visit. We are committed to our dogs before, during, and after adoption! The rescue retains title to the dog and can never be released or sold. Should the adopters no longer be able to keep the dog, SGRR must be notified so that we can take the dog back into rescue and place it into another home. We reserve the right to remove a dog at any time should we find the adopter is no longer caring for their Golden in a way we see fit. Adopters then have to agree to follow up visits as needed. Please be a ray of light for this Sunshine dog and make a tax deductible donation toward medical and other expenses. Every cent of your generosity goes directly toward the care of a Sunshine dog. *Name: Neo *Age: 3 years old *Current Weight: 102 lbs  *Adoption fee: $400 Introducing Neo, a magnificent great pyranees mix with a heart as open as the ocean and a soul that connects deeply with those around him; dogs and humans alike. Weighing in at around 100 pounds, Neo, with his soft white coat and solid build, embodies calm and stability. He saunters with effortless confidence; serenely moving through life akin to a blue whale gliding through the sea.  True to the nature of a guardian dog, Neo has an incredible ability to read other dog’s energy and adjust his to fit theirs. He is the center of almost every playgroup at the Adoption Center and we use Neo to help other sensitive dogs learn to trust who are not as confident with other dogs. To thrive, Neo needs ample time spent outside walking, exploring and tapping into nature. Neo has been through a lot in his short life. After he was left abandoned in an overcrowded shelter and was pulled to safety we realized he also has epilepsy. Luckily, it is currently being controlled with regular medication and he is supported by our neurologist.  Neo is undoubtedly a special soul inside and out. We know he’d do best in a home with outdoor space he can roam, a doggie companion or two and humans who appreciate his guardian dog characteristics! Neo is so ready to find his forever. Could that be you? Come meet him and experience his unwavering devotion and gentle spirit!
