Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.*** Check Out My Video Album Below! *** Big Red is a handsome, chill, and gentle young pup with a thick and super-soft deep red coat. He adores attention from his people, and loves to be hugged and pet. When his foster mom feeds him and his brothers, he will leave his food and get up in her lap for lovings, and then run back and eat some more! Big Red came into rescue with his five brothers, and all of them have young dog energy, enjoying an active lifestyle full of play and adventure. They are half Great Pyrenees, and 100% Good Boys! Red is almost leash trained, knows “sit,” is learning “down,” and is a breeze to groom - he’s done well with brushing and bathing and showed no reaction to nail trims - What a good boy! This curious little boy has lots of energy, but he is not above snoozing on the couch. He will make a great guard dog, as he barks to alert his humans if he sees or hears something out of place. Some words of praise from his people will quiet him down. He’s great with dogs and loves to play with his brothers - “Chase” is a favorite game of theirs! Big Red’s ideal home will have a huge box of toys waiting for him (teddy bears are his favorite!), and be with an active family that includes a canine sibling for him to play with. Red enjoys meeting new people (he’s friendly with everyone!), receiving lots of treats (peanut butter is awesome!), and having a good chew on a marrow bone. Is laid-back Big Red the pup for you?! NGPR Pooch Profile Name: Big Red in LA  Age: 2 yrs 3 mos old as of November 2025 Color: red with white markings  Dew Claws: yes, double  Estimated Adult Weight: 70 - 80 lbs  Current Location: NGPR approved foster in Kelly, LA Medical: Neutered, dewormed, negative for heartworm, up-to-date on vaccinations and currently on flea, tick and heartworm preventative. This dog travels with a Interstate Health Certificate required by the USDA confirming that all the above criteria have been met. Housebroken: likely yes - lives outside, but brought inside for several hours at a time without any accidents  Can be Placed With: Dogs, Kids, Cats Unknown  Fencing: Secure VISIBLE fencing is required; invisible fencing WILL NOT contain this breed. *** Adoption Fee for Big Red if adopted locally without transport is $175. *** Fees: Adoption fees are determined on a sliding scale depending on age, location and transport. Transport costs are included in the adoption fee. Fees for dogs adopted locally start at $400 and can range up to $700 for puppies under six months. Puppies placed on spay/neuter contracts receive $100 back when the dog is spayed or neutered. Fees for senior dogs (7 or older) and foster dogs will be adjusted accordingly. More Information: Questions? The fastest way to learn more about a dog is to fill out our Adoption Application. If you call or e-mail you are reducing your chances of adopting this animal as we direct our time and energy to first serving those who apply. NYS Registered Non-Profit Rescue # RR102. National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) has been rescuing and adopting out Great Pyrenees since 2006. Our relationship doesn’t end with adoption, as we continue to support adopters throughout the lifetime of their dog. Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. October 31, 2025, 4:57 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.*** Check Out My Video Album Below! *** Tuff is a super sweetie with an extra thick, soft coat. You will LOVE running your fingers through his fur, and he will let you all day long! This little charmer loves to snuggle up next to his humans and give them kisses. He craves attention and is friendly to everyone he meets - there is no such things as a stranger to him! Tuff came into rescue with his five brothers, and all of them have young dog energy, enjoying an active lifestyle full of play and adventure. They are half Great Pyrenees, and 100% Good Boys! Tuff is almost fully leash trained, and rarely barks - just to alert his people to strangers or animals that have come onto the property. True to his Pyr nature, he is an independent thinker and curious. He knows “sit” and “down,” but sometimes takes a minute to perform, as he’s deciding if your reward is worth the effort (Tuff’s tip: bring out the peanut butter for best results when requesting a “sit”!). Tuff loves to play with toys, and adores goofing around with his brothers, so he sure hopes that his furever family includes a canine sibling for him to play with! He would love a 5.5’ fenced-in yard for running about and playing with his buddies. Tuff is seeking an active family with lots of love to give! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.*** Check Out Our Video Album Below! *** These two big, floofy cuties are Apollo and Dakota, and they are joined at the hips! Apollo (male) and Dakota (female) came into rescue together as a bonded pair, and where one goes, the other one will follow close behind - it is too adorable for words. Both Apollo and Dakota get along well with their four-legged foster siblings, and they adore their two-legged furless friends. In fact, they watch over kids as if they were their own, and the little ones naturally gravitate towards these gentle giants. Apollo and Dakota are both easy-going and have low-to-medium energy levels. They love hanging out in the backyard (a 6-foot fence would suit their needs), going on walks, and tagging along for car rides (bonus points if there are pup cups involved!). When not out and about, both of them love nothing more than to be petted and loved upon by their people. They walk well on leash and know some basic commands. They are also a couple of foodies, being very food-motivated and loving treats of any kind! While hanging out together is their norm, they dine separately, as Apollo tends to be protective of his kibble. These two sweet love bugs are such happy-go-lucky pups that we are pawsitive they will thrive in a home where they will be showered with love and attention. What's better than one gentle giant, you ask? Well, TWO of course! What say you, are you ready to open your home and your heart to Apollo and Dakota? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.*** Check Out My Video Album Below! *** Are you looking for a sweet, friendly, eager-to-join-in-any-fun companion? Milo the Pyr/Husky mix may be the pyrfect boy for you. Milo's cuteness is seriously over-the-top, and he brings his A-game to every interaction, every chance he gets. If you are bored with muttering to yourself with no response, Milo will happily chime in and give you his opinion! In fact, the second thing on Milo's wish list is to have his own radio show for all things pup-related. What is the first thing on Milo's wish list, you ask? - His very own furever family, of course! This playful boy has the most delightful pyrsonality, and he will thrive in a home where he is engaged in every aspect of the household. Milo would also love it if his furever people are willing to teach him all kinds of tricks, because he is VERY EAGER to learn and show off his skills. He is already crate trained and knows “sit,” and “down”! Milo’s ideal home will have a big, 6-foot fenced-in yard (don’t worry, he doesn’t dig!), and an active family that has Husky experience. He’d be happy with or without other canine companions. What say you? Are you ready to give this handsome boy his very own furever home? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.*** Check Out My Video Album Below! *** Max is a big mush who will brighten your life with his smiles and big paws. He's a happy, bouncy guy who's eager to please. With medium energy, he enjoys a day full of attention from his people, and many naps. He’s good with cats, older kids who can handle his size, and female dogs - he’d adore having a lady Pyr in his furever home! He knows "sit" and is more than willing to do so at your command - just watch his videos! Max is a very smart pup and a little training will go a long way to making him the perfect Pyr companion. Max is housebroken and learning to walk on leash. This pup is good-natured and happy to oblige your commands, but having treats on hand will make him sit faster. He prefers to be inside, and is a cuddle-bug who will hang on your every word. He’s a breeze to groom, as he loves being brushed (it’s just more attention, after all!). Max’s ideal home will be in a quieter setting, have a 6-foot fence, a female Pyr to pal around with, and strong, loving leadership from people who are experienced in working with large, intelligent breeds - he needs a dog/Pyr-savvy human to provide him structure and routine.
