Story
Maja is a nine-month-old Great Pyrenees girl with long legs, a tender heart, and the kind of calm beauty that makes you slow down just by being near her. Currently about 70 pounds and still underweight, she’s growing into the majestic dog she was always meant to be, with an expected adult size around 90 pounds. Her name, Maja, is Swedish for “beautiful girl,” and it fits her perfectly—inside and out. Her early life wasn’t what it should have been. She came from a farming family who could no longer care for her and chose to let her wander rather than protect her. When she was found and the owners declined to take her back, Maja found herself in a shelter, quietly waiting. Critter Cavalry Rescue saw her gentle spirit and stepped in, placing her with a foster family experienced with Great Pyrenees who immediately recognized what a rare and lovely soul she is. Maja is everything people adore about her breed—easygoing, calm, and deeply gentle. She moves through life with a soft presence, never destructive, never demanding, just quietly grateful to be included. Having never lived indoors before January 22, everything is new to her, and she’s taking it all in with grace. House training is a work in progress, but she’s learning at her own steady pace, and her foster family is helping her understand what life inside a home feels like. She gets along beautifully with other dogs and is currently living peacefully with a cat, enjoying the comfort of companionship. Maja loves belly rubs and couch cuddles, and she’s already figured out that being close to her people is one of life’s greatest joys. She enjoys the outdoors, as Great Pyrenees do, but happily comes inside when invited, content to settle in and relax. Toys are a brand-new concept for her, and watching her discover play has been nothing short of heart-melting. She has started offering gentle play bows and exploring what it means to have fun with her humans. True to her breed, she has a touch of independence and occasional selective listening, but it’s wrapped in kindness and calm, never chaos. Maja is tall, elegant, and exceptionally kind in her interactions with people, children, and other animals. She carries no emotional scars from her past—just an open heart and a quiet readiness to belong. She will be a treasure to the family who welcomes her, an easy dog to love, and a loyal companion who brings peace into a home simply by being herself. Maja is ready for her forever family and a life filled with safety, patience, and affection. She has so much love to give, and she’s waiting for someone who sees not just her beauty, but the gentle soul behind it. If you are interested in this beauty, please write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com.   please let us know what city and state you live in as we adopt to Tennessee residents where we are based and also to the Northeast states where we transport weekly. PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.January 24, 2026, 12:03 pm

Story
Jack Junior has a heart full of Joy and ready for his special person to raise him right. Here is his story and plea: Hi there! My name is Junior, but once you meet me, you’ll understand why my friends call me 'Jumping' Jack Junior. I greet life with enthusiasm, joy, and a whole lot of bounce. I’m an 18-month-old Great Pyrenees mix boy with a gorgeous fluffy coat, an irresistibly curly tail, and a happy spirit that just wants to belong. I currently weigh around 60 pounds and expect to top out around 65–70 pounds once I’m fully grown. While I may look like a big teddy bear, I’m still a young dog learning how the world works—and I’ve had to learn it the hard way. My senior owner lost her home, and suddenly I found myself in a shelter in Texas along with other animals. That kind of loss and change was confusing and unsettling, and I bounced between foster homes trying to figure out what was expected of me. The good news? I’m now thriving. I’m living full-time with a professional trainer who welcomed me into her home and gave me what I had been missing all along: structure, consistency, and clear leadership. With calm boundaries and daily guidance, I’ve learned how to respond appropriately to the world around me. I’ve made huge strides, and my trainer says I’m ready to move forward with the right person or family. I do best with confident, experienced dog owners who understand the importance of leadership and routine. I need a securely fenced yard, regular exercise, and continued structure. I would do best as the only dog in the home and in a family with older children who can respect my space and training. With the right setup, I will form a deep, loyal bond and become a truly special companion. My trainer loves me deeply and is committed to my success—she will happily be a resource and support system for my future family whenever needed. If you’re an active, dog-savvy person looking for a joyful, intelligent companion who is ready to blossom in the right hands, I might be your boy. Please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com to ask questions and request an application.
