Story
Marlee's story began the way far too many Great Pyrenees stories do. She was found wandering alongside an older female Great Pyr we believe may have been her mother. Like so many livestock guardian dogs, Marlee had been left to roam unsupervised on rural property, with little guidance, socialization, or human connection. Over time, dogs like Marlee lose their sense of where they belong—and sometimes who they belong to. The older female, lovingly named Marilyn, has already found her happy ending with a wonderful family, complete with children, chickens, and a small hobby farm to call home. Now it's Marlee's turn. When Marlee first came into rescue, she wasn't sure about people. She kept her distance and needed time to learn that human hands could offer comfort, kindness, and safety. Her foster mom has patiently shown her what love looks like, and watching Marlee blossom has been nothing short of beautiful. Today, Marlee welcomes affection. She seeks comfort from the people she trusts and reveals the sweet, gentle soul that was hidden beneath her uncertainty. She is crate trained, wonderful with other dogs, respectful of cats, and good with young children, though she can still be a little shy when meeting new people. One of the most endearing things about Marlee is how deeply she feels. She is sensitive to the emotions of her humans and forms meaningful bonds with those who care for her. Every day brings a little more confidence, a little more trust, and another glimpse of the incredible companion she is becoming. Marlee is looking for a patient, loving family familiar with the Great Pyrenees breed—someone who understands that these magnificent dogs need both security and consistency to thrive. Because Great Pyrenees are known for their climbing and roaming instincts, she will require a securely fenced yard with privacy fencing or wrought iron containment. If you've been looking for a loyal companion with a gentle heart and a story of resilience, Marlee may be the one you've been waiting for. She has done the hard work of learning to trust. Now she just needs a family who will never give her a reason to lose that trust again. To learn more about adopting Marlee, please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com. Be sure to tell us where you live and describe your fencing. Marlee is ready for her forever home. Could it be yours?   ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED. Contact ccrtennessee@gmail.com.June 6, 2026, 8:34 pm

Story
MEET RUTHIE — A GENTLE, CLUMSY GIRL LOOKING FOR HER PERSON Ruthie is a beautiful 1.5–2-year-old, 59 lb. yellow dog who looks like she may have some Anatolian Shepherd or Boxer in her mix. Her personality, though, is more Great Dane or Great Pyrenees: gentle, steady, loyal, and happiest near her people. She has short bursts of playful energy, followed by long, peaceful naps. Ruthie came into rescue after surviving on her own for several months in the Nashville area. Because of that, she can be cautious in new situations and needs an adopter who understands that trust may take a little time. Once she bonds, though, she bonds deeply. In her foster home, Ruthie has become loving, relaxed, and very attached to her person. She is house-trained, quiet in the home, gentle taking treats, and has never had an accident in her foster home. She enjoys hiking, dog park trips, squirrel patrol, mud, water, shade, and then settling down for a good nap. She has a sweet, clumsy play style and sometimes seems like she is still figuring out where all four legs are supposed to go. Ruthie is wonderful with other dogs and plays gently with dog friends of all sizes. She is also easy and gentle with children, greeting them with the same soft, cautious curiosity she uses with new adults. She would likely enjoy having a confident dog friend, but what she wants most is a person or family to belong to. Ruthie is not a dog who would thrive being left alone all day with limited interaction. A work-from-home adopter, active household, or home with another friendly dog would be a great fit. Because Ruthie is smart, strong, and resourceful, her forever family should be prepared to use extra safety precautions during the transition period. A fenced yard is strongly preferred. We also recommend a martingale collar, double leash setup, and an AirTag or GPS collar until she is fully settled and bonded. Ruthie is not difficult. She just needs someone thoughtful, patient, and confident enough to help her feel safe. She has already proven that once she trusts you, she is incredibly loyal and loving. RUTHIE’S IDEAL HOME: - Patient, confident adopter - Fenced yard preferred - Another friendly dog would be a plus, any size or disposition - Work-from-home or active family preferred - Someone willing to use transition safety tools at first - A home that understands cautious dogs can become the most devoted companions Ruthie is being fostered in Tennessee. Story
Jack Junior has a heart full of Joy and ready for his special person to raise him right. Here is his story and plea: Hi there! My name is Junior, but once you meet me, you’ll understand why my friends call me 'Jumping' Jack Junior. I greet life with enthusiasm, joy, and a whole lot of bounce. I’m an 18-month-old Great Pyrenees mix boy with a gorgeous fluffy coat, an irresistibly curly tail, and a happy spirit that just wants to belong. I currently weigh around 60 pounds and expect to top out around 65–70 pounds once I’m fully grown. While I may look like a big teddy bear, I’m still a young dog learning how the world works—and I’ve had to learn it the hard way. My senior owner lost her home, and suddenly I found myself in a shelter in Texas along with other animals. That kind of loss and change was confusing and unsettling, and I bounced between foster homes trying to figure out what was expected of me. The good news? I’m now thriving. I’m living full-time with a professional trainer who welcomed me into her home and gave me what I had been missing all along: structure, consistency, and clear leadership. With calm boundaries and daily guidance, I’ve learned how to respond appropriately to the world around me. I’ve made huge strides, and my trainer says I’m ready to move forward with the right person or family. I do best with confident, experienced dog owners who understand the importance of leadership and routine. I need a securely fenced yard, regular exercise, and continued structure. I would do best as the only dog in the home and in a family with older children who can respect my space and training. With the right setup, I will form a deep, loyal bond and become a truly special companion. My trainer loves me deeply and is committed to my success—she will happily be a resource and support system for my future family whenever needed. If you’re an active, dog-savvy person looking for a joyful, intelligent companion who is ready to blossom in the right hands, I might be your boy. Please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com to ask questions and request an application. Story
Our happy, soft coated fluffy girl puppy is called Patty Pro Bono and the shelter who took in the litter of Great Pyr and Australian Shepherd pups named the litter after the Lawyer who brought them in to find homes.  The lawyer's female Great Pyr  had the accidental litter on 2/26/26 and brought them in the first of last of April to find them homes. When you first meet Patty you are ready to hug her and reassure her that she will find a great family very soon.  She is happy, well adjusted and has one of those easy going personalities that is bright and upbeat.  She is a curious girl and not as big as some of her littermates that take after the Great Pyr.  Patty takes after the size of her dad who is an Australian Shepherd.  At just 15 weeks she weighs 21 pounds and is destined to be a 50 pound adult that will be fluffy and gorgeous like an Australian Shepherd, and will carry the energy and intelligence of the breed.  Patty and her litter had spent the past  4 weeks with no adoptions happening.  It was a small town shelter.  The Director started making calls and pleas to rescues and Critter Cavalry Rescue could not resist helping this beautiful litter of 6 puppies.   They needed foster care and comfort from a foster family who can show them love and training.  This incredibly beautiful  girl has done so well with other dogs and with young children.  She is just a sweetheart and is quickly learning about crate training and is on a schedule to go out for potty breaks. We want this girl to grow up successfully in a fenced yard and to learn leash manners right away.  She loves to sleep most of the night in her puppy bed on the floor by the bed.  Patty Pro Bono is more than just beautiful - she is a thoughtful girl that is sensitive and quiet.  She would lay by your feet while you work all day long.  She loves to run and romp in the yard and this is why we are looking for a family with a fence.  She is a smart, observant puppy who takes in the world around her and responds with curiosity and heart. She adores snuggling with her  foster mom and happily soaks up attention, pets, and love from everyone she meets. Watching her romp around with joyful zoomies is pure happiness in motion.    ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED. Contact ccrtennessee@gmail.com.June 6, 2026, 8:34 pm

Story
Meet  JD Swagger, our young/old soul, who has the heart of a therapist and the gentle spirit of a lifelong best friend. ❤️ This handsome 4 month old Aussie/Great Pyr mix boy pup weighs 18 pounds and was part of an accidental litter born 2/26  to a pure Great Pyr mom and an Aussie dad.   The litter was raised by the owner until the end of April and then brought in to a small community shelter in Tennessee.  For 5 weeks not one puppy was adopted from the litter which was amazing to us.  The Director of the shelter started getting worried about these innocent puppies having to stay so long in a shelter and not in good adoptive homes or even a rescue's foster care.  When Critter Cavalry was called we rushed to pick them up from this well run shelter and found the best foster homes to help them on their journey to a final adoptive family.  We have found JD Swagger to be one of the smallest in size amongst his  littermates, but he has the biggest and most gentle heart.  He sits on the outskirts of the playtime area and watches over his siblings.   Definitely that Great Pyr guardian temperament and gentleness.  He seems to worry about things and wants to make sure they are getting fixed so to speak.  Goodness his foster mom just melts as she speaks about this precious boy's beautiful spirit.   JD is on his way to becoming a 50 pound adult dog or maybe a tad less.  He has the size and proportions of the Aussie breed and not his Great Pyr momma.  But his desire to protect and watch over his siblings and his humans is just amazing.  He moves with deliberate purpose and he is not one to get the zoomies and run until he drops.  He is slow and methodical and purposeful in everything he does.  Despite whatever hardships he faced early on, JD's loving nature shines brighter than anything else. In just one week in foster care, he has amazed everyone around him. He quickly learned the outside bathroom break training, leash walking, and how to listen attentively to his humans. More than that, he has shown us what a truly special companion he is. JD  has that rare “old soul” quality — the kind of dog who quietly understands you, stays close when you’re sad, and makes every day feel a little lighter.  He’s the kind of dog who simply fits anywhere and with anyone.  is wonderful with dogs, cats, chickens, children, and adults of all ages. He is gentle, easygoing, eager to please, and genuinely wants nothing more than to love and be loved.  If you have been searching for that once-in-a-lifetime companion — the dog who will protect your heart and become part of your soul — JD may be the one.  To adopt JD, please email ccrtennessee@gmail.com and tell us where you live. We’ll send you an adoption application to begin the process.  Please share to help this incredible boy find the forever family he deserves.   ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED. Story
I fostered him and eventually adopted him a couple months ago. He is 1 and half years old. He is the sweetest dog I’ve ever met. He just requires a lot of work. He needs someone who is at home most of the time and needs another dog to play and be his companion. He is a working breed. He needs a fenced in yard to get his roaming in and his energy out. He is very energetic. But loves to cuddle. Will collapse on your face. He would be a great family dog. He loves all humans and animals. He is well trained and currently learning some new things. He does bark but is learning to listen to the quiet command. He can not be in an apartment.

Story
Hello, my name Ziva. I am a 2-year-old, intact female. I LOVE my owners and their parents and daughter along with my other house mates, two of which are rescue dogs and two cats. I am an indoor/outdoor dog that also gets along with my Owner's two goats. I will chase chickens, but not the rooster because he won't back down and will posture up to me. When visitors come to my house, I have to go in the back yard because I am not receptive to strangers. I have shown signs of aggression towards strangers and will not let anyone in my home. I have been slowly introduced to my Owner's, daughter's fiance over the past year and have warmed up to him. Full disclosure, my Owner's are not sure I would do good w/grandchildren and are looking to rehome me. I like to play fetch with a few of my favorite toys and will "sit" and present "left paw/right paw” on command. I will lay all the way down if you give me a treat to entice me. My favorite food is Blue Buffalo and I LOVE a cooked sweet potato.

These pups are in Franklin, Tennessee too!
