Story
---If you are looking for a soft and fluffy larger puppy who will grow in to a easy going and loving 75+ pound dog, then Squirrel is your girl.  This black and white with a touch of brown highlights beauty was born 2/26 to a Great Pyr Momma and an Aussie dad.  One of those southern OOPS litters.  Lovingly the litter was raised in a home until late April and then they were all dropped off at the local rural shelter in Middle Tennessee.  For 5 weeks they stayed there with no adoptions.  Gorgeous young puppies in their prime of life and needing to be hugged and loved on.  We just guess that this busy Spring saw many adopters too busy to adopt due to traveling.  The Shelter reached out to Critter Cavalry Rescue and we jumped in to find fosters and take them home to make their remaining months more structured and guided with training and love.  When you first meet our beautiful girl puppy, Squirrel, you are immediately drawn to her sweet face that is shaped more like an Aussie than the squared jawline of a Great Pyr. At 23 pounds, this girl draws you to her soft appearance and her easy to approach fun loving temperament.  There’s this energy of curiosity and welcoming personality that let's you know she would like to be your friend and playmate.  She loves to run and play and is  up for great adventures with other dogs or with people. This incredibly beautiful big girl has the look of a a large Australian Shepherd and has the softest fur and biggest appetite. She does well with another dog to play with but could certainly be the only dog.  She is working hard on knowing all the housebreak times and learning what a crate is all about as well.  We want this girl to grow up successfully in a fenced yard and to learn leash manners right away.  She loves to sleep most of the night in her puppy bed on the floor by the bed.  But Squirrel is more than just beautiful looking - she is a happy, smart girl who is going to be fun for hikes, jogs, and fun adventures like camping or Fall Festivals. She would lay by your feet while you work all day long.  She loves to run and romp in the yard and this is why we are looking for a family with a fence.  She is a smart, observant puppy who takes in the world around her and responds with curiosity and heart. She adores snuggling with her  foster mom and happily soaks up attention, pets, and love from everyone she meets. Watching her romp around with joyful zoomies is pure happiness in motion.    If you are looking for a big dog in your life then Squirrel will most certainly fill that wishlist for you.  She should grow to be a 75+ dog much like her Momma.  She is ready for adoption NOW.... spayed and has had all her shots, this girl is ready for a life changing move to a new family that will teach her what unconditional love is all  about.  If you would like an application from Critter Cavalry Rescue then please send an email request for an application to ccrnewengland@gmail.com  We transport on 6/19 to the northeastern corridor and make designated transport stops along the way.  We also adopt locally in Middle Tennessee and surrounding areas.   ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED. Story
Marlee's story began the way far too many Great Pyrenees stories do. She was found wandering alongside an older female Great Pyr we believe may have been her mother. Like so many livestock guardian dogs, Marlee had been left to roam unsupervised on rural property, with little guidance, socialization, or human connection. Over time, dogs like Marlee lose their sense of where they belong—and sometimes who they belong to. The older female, lovingly named Marilyn, has already found her happy ending with a wonderful family, complete with children, chickens, and a small hobby farm to call home. Now it's Marlee's turn. When Marlee first came into rescue, she wasn't sure about people. She kept her distance and needed time to learn that human hands could offer comfort, kindness, and safety. Her foster mom has patiently shown her what love looks like, and watching Marlee blossom has been nothing short of beautiful. Today, Marlee welcomes affection. She seeks comfort from the people she trusts and reveals the sweet, gentle soul that was hidden beneath her uncertainty. She is crate trained, wonderful with other dogs, respectful of cats, and good with young children, though she can still be a little shy when meeting new people. One of the most endearing things about Marlee is how deeply she feels. She is sensitive to the emotions of her humans and forms meaningful bonds with those who care for her. Every day brings a little more confidence, a little more trust, and another glimpse of the incredible companion she is becoming. Marlee is looking for a patient, loving family familiar with the Great Pyrenees breed—someone who understands that these magnificent dogs need both security and consistency to thrive. Because Great Pyrenees are known for their climbing and roaming instincts, she will require a securely fenced yard with privacy fencing or wrought iron containment. If you've been looking for a loyal companion with a gentle heart and a story of resilience, Marlee may be the one you've been waiting for. She has done the hard work of learning to trust. Now she just needs a family who will never give her a reason to lose that trust again. To learn more about adopting Marlee, please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com. Be sure to tell us where you live and describe your fencing. Marlee is ready for her forever home. Could it be yours?   ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED. Contact ccrtennessee@gmail.com.June 16, 2026, 12:36 am

Story
Meet Bones!  Some dogs just need someone willing to see the world a little differently. Bones is one of those dogs. At just over a year old and around 80 pounds, Bones is a gorgeous Great Pyrenees/Heeler mix with a big heart, a joyful spirit, and a smile that lights up a room. He is neutered, fully vaccinated, on heartworm prevention, and ready to find the family he's been waiting for. Bones is deaf, but don't let that fool you—he is incredibly smart and highly trainable. He already knows hand signals for 'come' and 'sit' and has shown just how capable he is of learning. He loves people, thrives on interaction, and wakes up every day excited for whatever adventure comes next. Raised by an experienced rescuer, Bones has lived around multiple dogs and has zero history of aggression toward other dogs. He loves canine companionship and enjoys playtime with dogs of various sizes. Because he is a big, enthusiastic boy who doesn't always realize his own size and strength, very tiny or fragile dogs may not be the best fit simply because his play style can be exuberant. Bones has spent much of his life outdoors but is also comfortable spending time indoors when supervised. He adapts well and enjoys being part of the family. Because Bones is deaf, he cannot hear growls, hisses, or other warning signals from animals around him. Unfortunately, there have been incidents involving cats, and he should not be placed in a home with cats or other small animals. This is not a reflection of aggression, but it does mean he needs a home where everyone can be kept safe.  The decision to rehome Bones was made with tremendous love and care. He is not a problem dog. He is a special dog who deserves a home that understands his unique needs and appreciates everything that makes him wonderful. If you have a soft spot for dogs who are a little different, a little extraordinary, and completely deserving of a chance, Bones may be exactly the companion you've been looking for..Please email Critter Cavalry at ccrtennessee@gmail.com  PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.June 16, 2026, 12:36 am

Story
MEET RUTHIE — A GENTLE, CLUMSY GIRL LOOKING FOR HER PERSON Ruthie is a beautiful 1.5–2-year-old, 59 lb. yellow dog who looks like she may have some Anatolian Shepherd or Boxer in her mix. Her personality, though, is more Great Dane or Great Pyrenees: gentle, steady, loyal, and happiest near her people. She has short bursts of playful energy, followed by long, peaceful naps. Ruthie came into rescue after surviving on her own for several months in the Nashville area. Because of that, she can be cautious in new situations and needs an adopter who understands that trust may take a little time. Once she bonds, though, she bonds deeply. In her foster home, Ruthie has become loving, relaxed, and very attached to her person. She is house-trained, quiet in the home, gentle taking treats, and has never had an accident in her foster home. She enjoys hiking, dog park trips, squirrel patrol, mud, water, shade, and then settling down for a good nap. She has a sweet, clumsy play style and sometimes seems like she is still figuring out where all four legs are supposed to go. Ruthie is wonderful with other dogs and plays gently with dog friends of all sizes. She is also easy and gentle with children, greeting them with the same soft, cautious curiosity she uses with new adults. She would likely enjoy having a confident dog friend, but what she wants most is a person or family to belong to. Ruthie is not a dog who would thrive being left alone all day with limited interaction. A work-from-home adopter, active household, or home with another friendly dog would be a great fit. Because Ruthie is smart, strong, and resourceful, her forever family should be prepared to use extra safety precautions during the transition period. A fenced yard is strongly preferred. We also recommend a martingale collar, double leash setup, and an AirTag or GPS collar until she is fully settled and bonded. Ruthie is not difficult. She just needs someone thoughtful, patient, and confident enough to help her feel safe. She has already proven that once she trusts you, she is incredibly loyal and loving. RUTHIE’S IDEAL HOME: - Patient, confident adopter - Fenced yard preferred - Another friendly dog would be a plus, any size or disposition - Work-from-home or active family preferred - Someone willing to use transition safety tools at first - A home that understands cautious dogs can become the most devoted companions Ruthie is being fostered in Tennessee. Tennessee adoption is preferred, but Critter Cavalry does transport to the Northeast weekly for the right adopter. INTERESTED IN RUTHIE?
