Jellybean is a playful 5 year old, 70lb Great Pyrenees mix who is looking for a furever home. He’s an energetic dog, loves new people, is very cuddly and does very well with cats. He does not resource guard and is house and crate trained. He would do best in a home setting where he’s the only male dog, he could get along with a female dog as long as there is time to acclimate. Although he has no bite history, Jellybean is reactive to dogs he’s not familiar with. So please keep that in mind when considering him. Jellybean loves walks, runs, and nature, he loves roaming and exploring. He’s a certified lover boy who’s protective and has a lot of wonderful traits from his primary breed. He would do best in a household that has experience with Great Pyrenees dogs and their lovely personalities. Jellybean is up to date on all his vaccines, heart-worm negative and neutered. Jellybean is a courtesy post. Big Love Rescue is helping with exposure and the application process but not responsible for him. He is located in San Antonio but the owner is willing to drive to Houston. Due to his size he will not be placed in a home with toddlers. Applications at bigloverescue.org.

We don’t always know their back stories but between the mail carrier and the neighbor we pieced her heartbreaking story together. She was abandoned about 6 months ago after her owners were evicted due to animal cruelty. SPCA confiscated all the animals on the property except one. Unfortunately, they were unable to catch her. They tried traps and tried darting her with a tranquilizer but they lost track of her before she went down. We aren’t sure how she injured her back paw but her injury turned out to be her saving grace. It got her noticed and she became urgent over the hundreds of other strays in the area." Adoption Criteria 1. All GPAT fostered dogs are located in Texas. GPAT will consider out-of-state adoptions on a case by case basis. 2. Dogs will only be adopted as companion animals to be part of the family and reside primarily inside the home. 3. Preference is to have someone at home at least part of the day versus the dog being alone the majority of the day. 4. Preference is for the applicant to have specific knowledge and experience of the Great Pyrenees breed. Breed specific information will be covered in the virtual home visit/interview. 5. To integrate the dog into the family and provide mentorship to the dog, preference is for applicant to have at least 1 medium/large youthful/playful dog in the household. 6. All current pets in the home should be spayed/neutered and up to date on vaccines, 7. Preference is for applicant to have a socialization and positive training plan in place prior to bringing a dog home. 8.
