We do not do out-of-state adoptions for puppies and we cannot hold puppies; please submit your application when you are ready to adopt. Just fill in the blanks and SEND. The adoption fees cover the mandatory and non-negotiable spay/neuter, rabies, microchip, microchip registration, core vaccinations including rabies and 4 sets of distemper/parvo and deworming. Adoption fees vary based on age, breed, size and the costs incurred on the dog's behalf by us i.e. medical, behavioral training, etc. Puppies are not house-trained although they may have begun crate-training and/or potty pad training in their foster home, depending on their age. House-training is a process that will need to be completed by their adopter. Puppies, if left unsupervised and not redirected will develop negative behaviors such as using the restroom in the wrong place, chewing, barking, whining, etc. Please be sure to do research on raising a puppy and be sure that you are prepared to do so. Meet Diesel Diesel Black male | 7 years, 8 months old Born January 2, 2019 Racing name: Black Fire Alpha Diesel is a handsome, confident black greyhound who has a calm, easygoing presence and a wonderful ability to take new experiences in stride. At seven years old, he has left his racing days behind and is ready for the next chapter of his life—a comfortable home where he can relax, settle in, and be someone's beloved companion. Diesel is being rehomed because his owner is now caring for another dog following the loss of that dog's owner. This is a change in circumstances for Diesel, not a reflection of a problem with him. A Calm and Confident Guy Diesel handled his assessment like a seasoned pro. While waiting in his crate, he was relaxed and happy, including during his transfer in the car. Once on lead, he was strong and purposeful but happily left with his handler. He explored his new surroundings with confidence, taking time to roam around the assessment area and take care of business before settling in. He wasn't particularly interested in constantly interacting with the assessor, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing—Diesel seems comfortable simply being himself. He wasn't pacing or anxious and appeared quite content in an unfamiliar environment. Diesel is confident without being overly social. He doesn't need to be the center of attention and may be the kind of greyhound who is happiest hanging out nearby while his people go about their day. Good With Kids Diesel did very well with children in the indoor assessment environment. He went up a ramp with a 13-year-old girl and followed her back down. His tail was up and he remained engaged with what was happening around him. Good With Other Greyhounds Diesel has shown that he is great with other greyhounds, making him a wonderful candidate for a home with another greyhound or two. Food & Toys Diesel showed no concerns when treats were offered and taken away during his assessment. He remained comfortable and cooperative. He did show some increased interest in a toy while it was in a bed. He did not growl or snap, but he became somewhat rigid when the toy was approached. Because of this, his future family should give him space around high-value toys and allow him to enjoy his belongings without unnecessary interference. Cats & Small Dogs Diesel did not pass his cat test, so a home without cats is recommended. His compatibility with small dogs is still being evaluated, and we will update his profile once that assessment is complete. Diesel's Ideal Home Diesel may be a wonderful match for someone looking for a more independent, confident greyhound who doesn't need constant attention. He would likely appreciate a calm home, comfortable routines, soft places to sleep, and people who understand that greyhounds can have very different personalities. He has shown us that he can enter a new environment, explore it confidently, and settle in without becoming overwhelmed. He's happy to walk, happy to investigate, and happy to simply be there. If you're looking for a handsome, confident gentleman who knows how to relax and enjoy life, Diesel may be your guy.
