Story
We have a transport leaving June 25th 2026 from where we are located in Southern California to NorCal, OR, and surrounding states as needed for our adopting families where we bring our dogs all the way to their homes 💗 For peace of mind we never ask for anything up front. The adoption fee along with your share of travel costs will be due the day we arrive in person ultimately finalizing the adoption then and there with you. We would love to add Amara to our trip for the right family 😊 Meet Amara 💗 Amara is a beautiful Havapoo (Havanese/Poodle mix) who weighs just over 10 pounds and was born on 7/19/25. She has the most gorgeous Havanese-like coat that is soft, silky, and absolutely stunning. Her coat does not shed, making her a wonderful option for those looking for a hypoallergenic companion. She carries herself with a quiet elegance that turns heads wherever she goes, but it’s her loving heart that truly makes her unforgettable. Amara came into our care through no fault of her own. Her owner unexpectedly entered hospice care, and with no family members able to take her in, we were asked to help find her the loving home and family she deserves. While saying goodbye was undoubtedly heartbreaking, we promised that Amara’s next chapter would be filled with love, security, and the happiness every dog deserves. She has been fully vetted and is completely ready to begin that next chapter. Amara is spayed, current on all vaccines, microchipped, and had a wonderful overall exam with our veterinarian. At the time of her spay, she was unknowingly in heat, which required additional anesthesia time and specialized care. She healed beautifully and has done wonderfully throughout her recovery. During her exam, our veterinarian also flushed both of her ears and sent home ear medication as a precaution due to some mild irritation. Her treatment has been completed, her ears look fantastic, and she has been fully cleared to find a home all her own. Amara is house trained and thrives with a consistent daily routine. She enjoys knowing what to expect from her day, and maintaining a schedule in her next home will help her continue to flourish. She is crate trained and currently sleeps peacefully in her crate throughout the night. She also rests comfortably in it if we need to step out of the home for a few hours during the day. That said, she would transition beautifully to sleeping beside your bed or even snuggled under the covers if that’s what you prefer. She is doing very well on leash walks and, with continued practice and encouragement, will only become more confident with time. Car rides have become one of her favorite things because she has learned they often lead to new adventures. Whether it’s a quick errand, a weekend getaway, or simply accompanying you through the routines of daily life, Amara is happiest when she gets to be part of it all. She isn’t much of a barker. If she hears something unfamiliar, she may quietly investigate to satisfy her curiosity, or she’ll simply follow behind you and allow you to handle the situation. There is something incredibly endearing about her gentle confidence and the way she trusts the people she loves. Amara is phenomenal with other dogs. She absolutely loves to run, play, and enjoy every ounce of fun life has to offer. At the same time, she is equally content entertaining herself with her favorite toys or settling in for a cozy afternoon nap. And naps truly are one of her specialties. She will never turn down the opportunity for a midday snooze, especially if it means curling up beside you, resting comfortably in your lap, or being wrapped safely in your arms. She is affectionate without being demanding and has a beautiful way of simply being present. She is incredibly sweet, wonderfully spunky, and full of life. She has a way of brightening even the most ordinary moments and becoming exactly the companion your heart didn’t realize it had been searching for. What makes Amara especially special is the balance she brings. Alongside her playful, joyful side is a serene nature. In the midst of busy or chaotic days, she is often content to quietly observe from a distance until the energy settles, at which point she happily rejoins the fun. She seems to instinctively understand when it’s time to play and when it’s time to simply sit close and offer comfort. Spa days are another one of her favorite indulgences. Not only does she look absolutely beautiful afterward, but you can tell she feels beautiful too. She carries herself with a little extra sparkle and confidence that never fails to make us smile. Amara adores people. She is wonderful with men, women, and children alike. No matter who you are, she has a remarkable way of making you feel seen, important, and deeply loved. Her affection is genuine, unwavering, and given so freely. She makes it her mission to ensure everyone around her knows just how much they matter. If you’re looking for a companion who can join you on life’s adventures, curl up beside you during quiet moments, and fill your days with love, laughter, and devotion, Amara may be exactly who you’ve been waiting for. Her adoption fee is on our website at the bottom of her adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/amara This includes her spay, current vaccinations, microchip, veterinary examinations and care, ear treatment and follow-up care, as well as the months of love, socialization, training, and grooming expenses that have helped shape Amara into the wonderful little dog she is today.

Story
Update 6/14/26 from her foster home: Gigi is a sweet gentle soul who's looking for her forever home. Estimated to be around 6-7 years old she's a calm easy-going companion who loves nothing more than curling up on the sofa next to her person. Despite having limited vision due to cataract. Gigi gets around remarkably well. She listens for your footsteps and follows you from room to room can use the stairs and is great on walks. Her adaptability is amazing and everyone who meets her falls in love because she's so cute gentle and fluffy. What makes Gigi special is she's quiet well mannered and rarely barks. She's cuddly and trusting and just wants to be near you. She's dog friendly and does great with other dogs and feels most secure with a canine companion. She's house trained and an easy eater. Friendly with everyone she meets people and dogs alike. What she needs is a quiet home. Her limited eyesight makes her sensitive to loud or sudden noises so a calm neighborhood is ideal. She'll also need a future spay and potential cataract surgery can help fix her vision and continued eye supplements. She also has a small lump on her stomach which hasn't grown but should be tested. Since arriving in her foster's home Gigi has gained healthy weight and her coat has grown back soft and fluffy. Early vet tests didn't show signs of diabetes or other health issues. She's a happy healthy girl who just needs someone to call her own. FFR has already invested thousands into her early vet care and is fundraising for cataract surgery and dental care. If you'd like help donations are always appreciated: furryfriendsrescue.org/donations Original posting: We rescued Gigi from a distant shelter. The shelter person told us that she was maybe about 4-5 yrs old and very friendly. Great with dog buddy in her kennel. One shelter staff person said she didn't notice all the medical needs that Gigi has. Gigi was neglected matted and very dirty with bad smell. Dog friendly. When she went to our vet he told us she is older and that she needed dental and had some gum inflammation has lump on belly (need to remove & biopsy) not spayed and has double cataracts (vet did eye dye tests). Blood and urine tests shows no diabetes which can cause cataracts. Vet gave her eye drops. She has poor vision but sees light and large objects. She is getting around fine at her foster home and does great on walks. She can manage going up and down stairs. We have spent over $1000 so far on first exam eye blood & urine tests shave down/bath medications and all her vet care. Healthy foods eye vitamins and drops have help her. Healthier and sees well. Donations are greatly needed and appreciated. Thank you. 🥰 https://www.furryfriendsrescue.org/donations 3/14/26 Foster Home Update: Gigi is a really remarkable little girl. I’m surprised by her everyday! She’s able to get around quite easily on her own despite the occasional light booping against my leg or a wall. She listens for my footsteps and able to follow me around. She’s quiet and easy going. Friendly with other dogs and everyone we meet on the street. I’m amazed by how easily she’s adapted to San Francisco streets. Her poor eyesight doesn’t seem to be slowing her down. She’s trusting cuddly and just likes to be nearby. She’s also an easy eater and house trained. All my friends and neighbors who’ve met her think she’s the sweetest.YouTube: https://youtu.be/mQwFiUOiwdAJune 24, 2026, 2:09 pm
