Story
Silver without spice and everything that's nice, that's Rothko! His face evokes all the fundamental emotions hence the term "The Rothko Effect!" The number one emotion being love, it's easy to fall hard for this boy. Rothko is a handsome Havanese who enjoys the company of other dogs. He is financially stable and can stand on his own 4 paws. He enjoys the finer things in life and prefers to stop and smell the flowers rather than just giving them a quick glance. If you like your mutts to have confidence, fluff, and be extremely extroverted, Rothko is the guy for you! Here's some notes from his foster: - Rothko is a senior mutt that is young at heart and a ball of energy, you wouldn't guess how this senior dog is actually a 13 year old - he loves spending his time cuddling with his human and napping - he's super loving and warm with his human, always looking for attention and giving you tons of attention too - he is an enthusiastic mutt and always the first one to get out of the door when going for walks - he gets attached quickly and is quick to learn and adapt - he is also potty trained - he doesn't ask for much, just wants your love, attention, affection, cuddles and some usual walks in the day - he is always ready to be picked up in your arms, he's a puppy at heart - there's no place he'd rather be than with his human! - he's really friendly with other dogs! - very good at sitting peacefully and loves people watching! - If you're looking for a dog to be by your side and love you unconditionally, Rothko is the one! Hes always happy to be with you with a smile on his face

Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $800 Cuba is a 3 year old Havanese who was rescued from the shelter. He came in terribly matted with an overgrown coat so the shelter gave him a good haircut and promised they would find him a perfect place to land. Cuba weighs 20 pounds. This world traveler can’t wait to share his adventures with his new forever home! Cuba has a non-shedding coat which makes him an option for those with allergies or who just want less hair around the house.    Cuba is the world’s most outgoing, smiley guy who loves nature almost as much as he loves snuggling into his bed for naps! He loves meeting new people and showing off his cute face. Once he chooses you as his person, he will loyally follow you from room to room as you go about your day. Cuba is a cute bouncy ball of fur running around the house. He has a huge mountain of dog toys he carefully selects from every day. Cuba loves hiking and runs so an active home would be a fabulous fit for this dude!  Cuba’s day starts at 7 AM with a walk in the back garden before breakfast. He then gets a longer walk around 8:30 AM before a nap in his crate while his foster mom gets some work done. During the day, he enjoys some games of fetch and chase in the backyard which he loves. He gets a longer walk at 5 PM before dinner at 5 PM. He winds down with his foster family until bedtime at 9 PM when he heads to bed in his crate and sleeps the night away.  Cuba is a “one dog in the home” kind of pup. He gets along with other dogs once they have a calm intro, but he would prefer not to share the affection of his forever family. Cuba is getting better at his leash walking skills, but will need a home prepared to continue the training he has started in his foster home. We will be looking for a home who can demonstrate their plan for continued learning.    Cuba is only an option for those with prior dog experience. He is only an option for those who are prepared to continue his training and who have a plan for grooming. Kids in the home should be over the age of 12.May 8, 2024, 6:11 pm

Story
7 year old, 22 lb OBESE Lhasa Apso Mix SPAYED FEMALE for ADOPTION  Meet Zucchini Produce !     Zucchini is a ~7 year old Lhasa Apso mix that comes to us from Contra Costa Animal Services.  That sounds like a big range, but she acts like a 4 year old but possibly due to neglect seemed to be a bit older as far as her coat and teeth looked   Zucchini is currently 22 lbs and (like a lot of us) needs to shed a few lbs to be a healthy weight. She needs to be around 18 lbs is what the vet tells us. She is a little picky but obviously likes to eat (sounds like me!).   She is a huge fan of Puppachinos and she gets a bite or two after a long week of eating healthy. She is really good about taking any meds in some wet food. She also loves the sound of her own voice so an apartment would not be the best setting for her long term.     She does have dry eye and will need eye drops for life (a combo of prescription and OTC).    This is what her foster mom has to say about this sweet girl -   'Zucchini is a very active dog. She’s a good girl, very sweet and she loves praise. All she wants to do is play with the other dogs in her foster home. She can be pushy and doesn’t know the meaning of boundaries. We highly recommend training classes to help her learn manners and succeed. She’s super happy and loves to go on walks. Once she sees the leash in your hand she gets crazy happy.   She should lose a few pounds and actually she has since she’s been in her foster home.   She will follow you everywhere if she loves you. She’s not a Velcro dog but she wants to be close enough to you to see you. She loves to give you kisses and receiving lots of belly rubs in return. She HATES staying the kennel and can be very vocal. Car rides are not a favorite of hers either but she’s learning.   We don’t recommend a home with cats because she will chase them. Since she needs help learning her limits, older children in the home is also recommended. She freely uses the potty pads and if taken out she will do her business. She has not yet learned to go out on her own.    Her foster mom says she is spoiled and likely lived in a home who did not give her any boundaries or make her share. She needs to learn boundaries and that the world does not revolve around Zucchini -- as in she came to live at your home and not the other way around   Zucchini is being fostered in the Sac Area in Northern CA.   If you are interested in adding this pretty pup to your family, please send us a detailed email to beourpet@gmail.com If you are unable to adopt but would like to help, please ***SHARE THIS POST***  GENERAL INFO:   Housebroken?: Yes, we think so Crate Trained?: HATES THEM Leash Trained?: Yes but needs practice Rides Well in Car?: Yes Non-Shedding?: Low to no shed Good with cats?: Probably not Good with dogs?: Yes but only if they will play and allow her to be the boss Qualifies for Seniors for Seniors?: yes Umbrella of Hope does not have any strict rules on ages of children because all children are different, but our best approximation is that this animal would do best with children over the age of 12 Umbrella of Hope is an all-volunteer, donation-run, non-profit animal rescue based out of Pittsburg, CA that rescues animals from local shelters, places them in private foster homes, provides them with needed medical care and then finds them new homes.  Also, ask us about our seniors for seniors program, where we adopt animals 5 years or older to qualified homes with a $5 donation as an adoption fee.
