Story
Archie was surrendered by his former owner due to his high level of anxiety and resource guarding.  He is currently taking anti-anxiety medication.  These behavioral issues are able to be desensitized with Archie being placed in the right home with a new family who is willing to work with him.  CODAR will include free in home training with our recommended trainer who has vast knowledge of dog language and how to show positive reinforcement while setting boundaries in the home.  He was purchased from a pet store and lived in an adult only home until he was surrendered.  He is approximately 2 years old.  We are unsure if this was a learned behavior or if he was not corrected when it first began.  Archie is super friendly when meeting new people and loves to be petted.  He gets along well with the other dogs staying at our facility.  He walks well on a leash and knows basic commands.  He is up to date on all shots, is neutered and microchipped.  Archie requires an experienced dog owner willing to work with him.  Due to his current issues, we recommend a home without children or visiting grandchildren.   If you are interested in adopting from Castle-of-Dreams Animal Rescue, please complete an Adoption Application We are a 100% volunteer organization and have several opportunities available in fundraising, fostering, dog care, events and lots more!  To join our winning team, please complete a Volunteer Application A healthy pet is a happy pet! Story
Wanderflower is a very loving dog, she is very timid but loves to be around dogs and people. She needs a patient person who will shower her with love. Wanderflower gets along with any dog she meets!  Wanderflower is very timid, curious, and sweet! She is house trained, and loves her crate as her safe space. Wanderflower sheds very little.  Although very timid with people, she is resilient and wants to get close to people. Everyday she shows the love she has to give. Every morning eager to give kisses and a big stretch.  Wanderflower lives with a resident dog, and gets along wonderfully. Her energy level is about a 4, she enjoys exploring the house and laying on the couch. Although very timid, she loves company and has a bit of separation anxiety. Isn’t a loud barker but does whimper if left alone. Would do amazing with a dog to keep her company. Due to her apprehensive nature, walking outside is a learning process. She gets to explore outside in a stroller and does well with outside noise. We are able to get her harness on and off. Her appetite is good, she eats scheduled times and most of her food.  ALL adoptions require a completed application and final contract.  Personality & Characteristics: Moons of Jupiter is a mild-mannered young lady taking city living in stride. She has already mastered navigating the NYC streets, showing no reactivity to other dogs. She is excellent at riding the subway tucked into a little tote bag! She takes a day or two to warm to new people but can easily be swayed with a tasty meal (ground chicken is a favorite) and soft lap. If you are looking for a sweet companion ready to tackle life with you, Moons of Jupiter is your girl.   My foster dog is good with: Dogs and catsMy foster dog is: House-trained and hypoallergenic3 Keywords for your pup: Docile, sweet, gentle soulEnergy Level (1= calm, 10= high energy): 3Barker? Story
Goldie - 1 years & 10lbs, Havanese Mix, Spayed  This dog is eligible to join our foster-to-adopt program starting that day. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal’s name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org. Level of dog ownership experience needed:BEGINNER: This means we predict this dog will be low on the challenge scale due to its breed/age combo. Potentially a good fit for someone who has relevant dog care experience (fostering, dog sitting) and is looking to adopt their first pup.  Energy levelMEDIUM: Needs a daily 60-90 minute walk or window of quick paced exercise (minimum) in addition to potty break strolls (10-30 min each). Also needs significant socializing opportunities outside the home and mental stimulation at home like tricks training practice, chew items, and puzzle toys. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  Potty trained?Probably! Adults usually are, but all will have transitional accidents for the first week or so. A consistent walking route and schedule plus finding spots with grass or dirt can help. Social with other dogs?Yes, but we don’t know to what degree yet. Some like to wrestle with every passing pup, others can coexist well but prefer to keep to themselves. We’ll learn more soon. Social with cats? Not sure yet! Some breed mixes that are generally NOT great matches for homes with cats include large hounds, huskies, and shepherds.  Comfortable with children?  (ALWAYS requires adult supervision)We’re not sure yet, but we try to err on the side of caution. Respectful kids ages 8 and up are probably a safe bet. Children must always be monitored and taught to interact with dogs of any age respectfully.  Okay in the city?We don’t know yet. Most adult dogs do well in the city after they’ve had time to adjust to a new environment, but some never adapt and need homes in the burbs.  Medical statusHealthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm negative; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake How this dog ended up with Social Tees:Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee, Puerto Rico or Southern California. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses though!  This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. Story
Meet Tyson – 10 Pounds of Pure Boss Energy Don’t let the size fool you – Tyson is 10 pounds of attitude, charm, and fetch-playing fury at 6 years old . He’s got the spirit of a lion, the reflexes of a ninja, and the selective snuggling skills of a cat. Loves treats like they owe him money, and plays fetch like it’s an Olympic sport. Petting is strongly encouraged – until it’s not. You’ll know. Tyson struts on a leash like he’s walking a red carpet, but don’t expect him to share the spotlight – he needs to be the one and only dog in your life. Kids? Hard pass. He’s not about that toddler chaos. Tyson’s looking for a grown-up with dog-savvy skills and a taste for tiny drama kings. Think you’ve got what it takes to keep up with this compact legend? Tyson’s ready to rule your heart… and your living room! Neutered with all up to date shots Copy this link and paste into your browser and fill out : https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/POSH/Dog
