Story
Meet Zafiro, the senior husky mix. Zafiro is sapphire in Spanish. This distinguished gentleman came to the Shelter after his previous guardian was moving out of the country and unable to continue caring for him. He lived with a 5 year old child and did well. Zafiro has a history of enjoying playing with other dogs. At the Shelter, he has met other dogs at the Shelter and solicited some play. Zafiro briefly met a dog-savvy cat and was curious but did not chase them. A home with a feline friend may be a fit with a slow, thoughtful introduction. Zafiro was primarily outdoors in his previous home. He would likely enjoy a home with indoor-outdoor access to give him a plush, cozy spot indoors to relax in but also have the ability to go outdoors if he chooses. If you`re looking for an easy going dog to give a retirement home to, come meet this gem of a dog today! The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering “Pawsitivity Bucks” with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.

Story
Sky is a four year old spayed female with a wonderful personality. She loves to play and snuggle. She walks well on leash and LOVES long walks. If you know Huskies, you know they love to be active. She and her sonare bonded and we are looking for a home for them together. They play well together and that helps burn off a lot of their energy.  Huskies make wonderful family pets, but like most of the working breeds, they do best in specific circumstances. We are looking for adopters who have experience with Huskies or other high drive, highly intelligent breeds (for ex:  Doberman, GSD, Belgian Mal, Cattle Dog, etc)  Sky, and her son, Chimuelo were owned by a family who loved them, but who's circumstances changed to the point where they are not able to give them the attention and care they need.  Luckily for them, they are such wonderful dogs that two neighbors stepped up to supplement the attention the family was able to give. Over time everyone realized the dogs would do best with a single home that could give them what they needed - a place and people to call their own.  The neighbors, Craig and Susan, would each love to take them, but they each have cats, and the dogs are not safe with cats.  These dogs were raised in a family with kids and love them.  Sky in particular loves getting pets from the kids at the park! We are helping Craig and Susan find the right home for this wonderful pair.  (The original owners have surrendered the dogs to them.)  You can fill out an application for either of them and it will apply to both dogs. Please note: Sky needs a home with no cats.Sky is ok with small childrenSky needs lots of exercisePrevious medical records are available for Sky.More information & application [ts=1772092809&src=aap]

I have been taking care of her since and got her fixed and microchipped. I didn't want her to go to the shelter so i am keeping them until i find them new homes. She is an affectionate, friendly dog and loves being petted, walks, running around the yard. She is pals with Duke who will also be listed on this website. They get along very well. They both love eating peanut butter and chewing on rawhides. They love going to the dog park and running around off leash (as long as they are in an enclosed area. The are both very sweet dogs. Story
All of our foster dogs are kept in individual homes.  Go to our website Bayareasiberian.org to get the foster home contact if you do not see it in the bio.Meet Aurora: A Sweet Survivor Ready for Love! Introducing Aurora, a beautiful blue-eyed Husky who has endured a tough past but is now ready to find her forever home. Aurora was rescued from a heartbreaking situation in Texas, where she was stuck in a small pen with two other huskies, deprived of food, water, and shade in the scorching heat. Despite the neglect she faced, Aurora’s spirit remains unbroken, and she is one of the sweetest and friendliest dogs you will ever meet. Aurora loves everyone she meets and has a special way of making you feel loved with her gentle nature. She enjoys being vocal, but her cute howls are more endearing than loud and repetitive. One of her favorite things to do is lean on you and give kisses, showing just how affectionate and grateful she is for any attention and love. On a leash, Aurora is pretty easygoing and prefers a leisurely pace over running. She’s not particularly into toys but finds joy in simple pleasures like walks and cuddles. When greeting new friends, she might jump a little out of excitement, but her enthusiasm is always sweet and never overwhelming. Aurora is looking for a loving home where she can be cherished and cared for. If you’re ready to open your heart to a dog who has so much love to give, Aurora is waiting to meet you. Fill out the adoption form and give this sweet girl the happy ending she deserves.https://docs.google.com/forms/d/17jZd71sPhj-SGmchmWlB80DkIjVq3S-6dB8b33Jn5Ls/edit Please fill out an adoption form to meet her!!
