Story
Meet Azul! MO4PAWS is networking Azul for a family that can no longer keep him due to their living situation and son moving out of the country. He’s a very good and loving dog, all he wants is attention and love. He loves to go out and has the typical husky energy. He is currently an outdoor dog with the family he resides at. As would any dog, with some training and guidance he will be a wonderful dog for someone! When it comes to kids, he isn't aggressive with other people and has never bit anyone, he just can be a little jumpy as a result of his energy. We want to find a family that will just love him and take him in as part of their own!

Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee. This dog will be at a meet and greet event on Saturday, March 23rd unless he/she is adopted prior to the event with a set up home. The event is from 12 pm to 3 pm at Palo Alto's Pet Food Express. Those interested in meeting the dog can come out to our meet and greet event. We no longer do application approval onsite. Anyone adopting has been previously approved and set up to meet prior to the event. Adoption Fee: $600   Leo is a 4 month old Husky mix who came to us all the way from the Great White Way to find their forever homes! These friendly and goofy brothers came to DPS from the shelter and we promised them we’d find them perfect roles with forever families. These boys will be large pups when fully grown and are excited to keep their new families active! We will be looking for separate homes for each puppy as we do not place siblings in the same home.    Below is a note from Max and Leo’s foster mom. “Max: Max is the first to run around and explore new places when he finds them. He is the leader of his brother and is very confidently curious about everything he experiences. He is also very watchful of his foster family and loves to follow us around for snuggles. He loves to curl up next to us on the couch when he is ready for a nap. He also has a wonderful singing voice and promises to win his new family a Tony for his performances.  Leo: Leo is a gentle, loving pup who loves cuddles and fuzzy blankets. He is often found curled up in front of the heating vent. While his brother is outgoing, Leo is more quietly clever. He quickly learned that sit gets him a treat and is eager to find out what other words get him snacks! Leo has heterochromia and his striking looks garner him attention from all who meet him! This Producer can’t wait to charm his new family!  Max and Leo wake up around 8 AM after sleeping through the night in their crate. After some morning greetings and rubs, they run outside for a potty break and some zoomies. Breakfast is one of their favorite times of the day and they happily chow down on their kibble. After eating, they play with stuffies and chew toys while we get ready for the day. They love playing with our resident dog throughout the day as well! They have a nap around 11-2 before having a quick snack. Dinner is at 6 PM and then we spend the rest of the evening playing and romping around before winding down for bedtime.  Max and Leo play very well with our big dog and have had curious interactions with our two cats. They are working on house training but are puppies, so of course accidents are expected! While the brothers are more mellow than your typical husky, they will still be active pups when fully grown and can’t wait to plan some adventures with their forever families!”   Interested homes should have owned a dog in the past, with priority given to those homes who have experience training large breed dogs. Kids in the home should be over the age of 7.March 25, 2024, 11:42 pm

Story
Mojo’s an ADORABLE 4y/86lb Akita/Husky w/ 2 blue energetic eyes. The SOLE reason we must find him a simpler lifestyle is I bring him to work & he’s very “monogamous” w/ pettg. I work 1-on-1 as a therapist & it’s too much exposure for the Akita in Mojo, so loyal to the owner. My PTSD/cancer clients can pet him only briefly, unlike 8 years w/ my previous Akita-husky-malamute. For the last 3 of Mojo’s 5 mo.s, clients settle for RELISHing him at their feet -tho he sneaks in “quicks licks” to the hand upon greetg. So, Akita = no greetg other dogs, no dog parks. For me, no road trips w/ a friend w/ her dog. BUT, Mojo’s glorious parts made us postpone rehoming: with his owner, he is SUPREMELY affectionate. He walks to my bed & as I plant my feet on the ground & lean over, he nestles his nose in my chest at length. Mojo is FINE w/ friends on walks, at home, etc -as long as they pet briefly. I just need ZEEERO risk a dog will react w/ PTSD/cancer clients for obvious reasons. A gifted Akita!

Story
Three years old, neutered, and was a rescue; it takes some time for him to earn your trust; he is strong and sometimes pulls on leashes when walking. He has typical stubborn husky behavior; no cats or small animals, and no kids under 14, please, due to his mouthy and nipping behavior, and his bite is strong; sometimes you will bleed if you force him, so do not! Always ask for his permission before patting him, especially when he is lying down, which is the most vulnerable position for an outdoor animal like him during his earlier life when he was left outside 24/7 in the yard with a lack of socialization and human interaction. He can stay by himself for around 4 to 6 hours, but remember that Husky is a pack animal, which is not recommended for more than 2 hours. When leaving him alone, you need to lock him outside or create a safe zone for him inside the house; just like most huskies, they will start to be destructive and chew when bored. Generally, after three years old, they will begin to calm down. He was never crate trained, rides decent in the car, but makes lots of exciting noise! Trial adoption is recommended; feel free to see if he fits your family, I need to find him a good home, so I do not mind taking him back if things do not go well with the adoption.

Good with kids, Not good with dogs, Not good with cats, Needs experienced adopter, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
A beautiful husky weighing 58 pounds was found stray from the City of Porterville in California. The animal has a microchip, and all shots are up to date. You need to meet him in person to appreciate it! Mellow and calm, very cuddly and affectionate. He is good with kids over 14 but no small animals, and he does not like big dogs; he is better off being the only animal in the household. Typical escape artist, he will accompany a GPS collar as well. So even if he hops the fence (which he did, according to the previous owner), you can track him whenever, wherever. Having this husky is a commitment, but he is a wonderful companion, and it's better when his handlers work from home most of the time. I will also guide you through his journey by conditioning him and supplying crates and calming remedies when needed. Our commitment to every animal is essential for a successful adoption and saving their lives. We are here whenever you need us after the adoption. Shell this animal is not a good fit, we will gladly accept his return.
