Story
Meet Lexie: A Soft Soul Seeking Her Sunshine At 10 years old and 50 pounds, Lexie the Husky has the kind of quiet wisdom that only time can bring. She’s soft—not just in her beautiful coat, but in her demeanor, her gaze, and her gentle approach to life. Lexie is still learning that people can be kind. She’s a little shy at first, but it’s easy to see the sweetness that shines through as she starts to trust. She enjoys the simple pleasures: a sunny yard to explore, new scents to follow on a leisurely walk, and the peaceful company of another calm dog. She walks beautifully on a leash and would love a human who enjoys quiet strolls as much as she does. Lexie doesn’t need chaos or excitement—just a calm, understanding home where she can continue to grow in confidence at her own pace. Once she bonds with you, it’s deep and loyal—Lexie is the kind of dog who quietly settles into your heart and stays there. ------ Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Older kids are often a great fit for our dogs, and homes with younger children will be considered based on each dog’s individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may take a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of these dogs adapt quite quickly. Being a part of their rehabilitation is a truly rewarding experience. To learn more about mill dogs and start the adoption process, visit our website!

Story
Oliver is a 10-year-old Husky weighing about 60 lbs. He can be a bit timid and shy when first meeting new people or entering new environments, but once he has time to settle in, his gentle nature begins to show. Oliver gets along well with other dogs and enjoys their companionship. Because compatibility is important, a meet and greet at the shelter is required to ensure a good fit for everyone involved. While Oliver is a senior, he is still a Husky at heart—an active, intelligent breed that needs an adopter committed to keeping both his mind and body stimulated. With the right balance of patience, activity, and love, Oliver will make a wonderful and loyal companion. ------ Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Story
Big Fluffy is an 11-year-old (nearly 12!) male Husky whose calm heart and quiet spirit make him an absolute treasure. With his snow-dusted coat and wise eyes, Big Fluffy is exactly what his name promises—big, fluffy, and full of quiet love. He’s a little shy at first, but once he knows he’s safe with you, he enjoys gentle pets and being near kind humans. His favorite activity is meandering through the play yard, taking in all the scents the world has to offer. You won’t find him running zoomies or bouncing off the walls—he’s all about soft grass, soft voices, and soft hearts. Big Fluffy gets along well with other dogs, especially those who share his relaxed, mellow energy. He doesn’t need much—just a peaceful home, a comfy bed, and someone who will love him for who he is: a dignified gentleman who’s ready to spend his golden years simply being adored. A meet and greet at the shelter is required to ensure he’s a great fit for your family and any current pets. ------ Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Story
Riley is a sweet, fun loving, and active girl! She loves to fetch or toss around a stuffy. A yard to run and an active person to walk, run, or hike with her would be preferred. Good places to sniff and use her strong nose is a plus! Once she gets out the wiggles she is happy to rest, chewing on a good bone or snuggling up to you as close as she can get!  Riley is curious about cats, but very respectful of their space. She would like a dog companion to play with after slow and respectful introductions. Riley loves kids, especially if they will throw her toy or give her scratches. She will sometimes need a reminder that kids are small and don’t always want face kisses.  She will be protective of her people, but has never met a stranger.  Riley needs someone who is patient and willing to go on a training journey with her, reminding her she is safe as she builds her confidence in the outside world. She is trying her best to learn about being on a leash. Riley learns quickly and loves a flavorful, protein filled treat for a reward!  To help set her (and you!) up for success, Riley’s adopters will receive a FREE session with a trainer to go over what she’s learning and how to continue supporting her journey.
