Story
Adopt Me: Henley Age: 5 years Gender: Spayed Female Breed: Siberian Husky Weight: 42 lbs Location: Humansville, MO Henley is a 5 year old, red Siberian Husky who came to us from an amish commercial breeder. She's a wonderful and sweet Husky who is quite submissive with humans and other dogs. She's quiet and gets along with male and female dogs and is quite tolerant. She does have an old injury or birth defect in her front leg, but as of right now the vet feels it's not painful and she does use it to stabilize herself. On top of all that she was groomed for the first time in 5 years and was "the best behaved husky ever" according to staff! Interested in adopting Henley? Visit www.nmdr.org to submit an adoption application (select Missouri as the location on the application). After submission check email (spam folder too!) for response to set up an adoption appointment. Email bethw@nmdr.org with any questions. We don't allow our pets to fly as cargo or be shipped. Please check your spam folder after submission of application. We respond via email and many responses go into spam. All NMDR dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, heartworm tested, and microchipped.

Story
-Tripod- Missing right hind leg Phoenix (9 yrs. 65 lbs.) is a handsome Husky/Great Pyrenees mix with a strong spirit and a resilient heart. Though he has only three limbs, it doesn’t slow him down—Phoenix walks well on leash and enjoys getting out to explore just like any other dog. Phoenix is still learning to trust and will need a patient, committed home that understands his past and is willing to work with him at his own pace. Building a bond with Phoenix will take time, consistency, and gentle guidance, but the reward will be a loyal companion who continues to grow in confidence. Because Phoenix’s comfort and success in his new home are important, a meet and greet at the shelter will be required with any other dogs in the household to ensure everyone is a good fit. Phoenix is looking for an adopter who can see past his challenges and appreciate his strength, determination, and potential. If you’re ready to offer patience, understanding, and a safe place for Phoenix to continue his journey, he may be the perfect match for you. ------ Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Older kids are often a great fit for our dogs, and homes with younger children will be considered based on each dog’s individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may take a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of these dogs adapt quite quickly. Being a part of their rehabilitation is a truly rewarding experience. To learn more about mill dogs and start the adoption process, visit our website!

Good with kids, Good with dogs, Not good with cats, Needs experienced adopter, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Abby is a typical husky. Very adventurous, a bit of an escape artist, she can still scale a fence less than 4 feet tall, so a secure yard is necessary for her. She also needs to be on leash when out for walks or hikes. Huskies need daily exercise so she can not be in an apartment setting. She needs a house with a secure yard and active owners. She is very vocal like most huskies, a bit of husky talking and will bark when she wants or needs something. She gets along with other dogs, goes to day camp almost weekly and loves dog parks as well. She is older (10) but very healthy. Her fur in longer than most huskys as she is a "wooly" breed husky. She absolutely LOVES the snow and cold temperatures and will stay outside willingly, and almost stubbornly the colder it is. Her tail unfortunately, lost its hair when we moved here from Arizona 5 years ago and it hasn't grown back. The vet said it was probably a combination of allergies and stress from the move perhaps.

Story
available after 1/16/26 Good morning from Goldie girlie! Goldie is a 2-ish year old shepherd husky mix with the most piercing gorgeous eyes! She is shy at first, but would love to be your shadow once she gets settled.  She’s a quiet girlie who loves a good nap but does great on longer walks. She is great on a leash - no pulling, and hasn’t shown aggression towards other dogs on walks.  She is house broken and does well in the crate although she’d much prefer to lounge outside of it.  She’s a lover, not a fighter - no chewing, barking, or resource guarding. (Side note: Her puppies already came to CO back in December and have all been adopted! Now it's her turn for her furever family!)
